Right then! A full round on the house Bonney! Except for the lass! He shouted wholeheartedly to the barkeep as she seemed to anticipate this and was already filling several glasses from the keg. Glad you could make it of course. I heard youre quite the protege. He told the woman before answering her question.
(Just confirming with two questions. Did you mean "prodigy"? And, does "the woman" refer to Aura? Just in case, because I think that makes sense, but it isn't explicit.)
(Yes and yes sorry about that, was going for protégé)
(Protégé means a completely different thing, and that's what got me confused. You're fine, I was just trying to get a bit more clarity on that.)
Aura hears the compliment and looks to the side, hiding her face from Leon, but anyone who could still see her would notice her blush. "W-well... Yeah, I've been good at my skills at a younger age... Huh... Thanks...?" She had a lot of difficulties expressing herself in social interactions, and it was shining through with this seemingly simple interaction.
The conversation shifts away from her, and she takes that as an opportunity to relax and give a better response when Leon asks everyone his question. "About our reward, I feel like I might not have much use for gold pieces, but I think I could try to see what I could get from the vault. Even if nothing interests me there, I'll be in this mission for the gold, then."
Manfred looks at each man and woman around the table and begins silently compiling a list of words that rhyme with each's name, with a heavy focus on the most profane words he can think of.
"The chance to pull an item from the Giant Slayer's guild vault is just to good to pass up. Indeed, with this assortment of, um, individuals, there's bound to be a song in it somewhere. My flute and blade are yours. For now."
Ashtear Feels awkward as she missed her chance to refuse the drink, hoping no one notices, pours a small vial into her drink. Which fizzes briefly before turning clear, with solids on the bottom before picking it up and drinking the now clear water, and leaving concentrated liquers on the bottom of the cup.
"Well, I came for travel money... but the vault sounds like a fun bet. So lets go with that-I can always open another foodstall if I come up short on gold but how often does one get to play in a guild vault. Honestly though, happy to help kind folks in a spot. Ah.. but if songs do come up from this. I'd prefer to not be minstrel famed. Its just weird to hear someone talking about me."
Pushing her drink off to the side and looking at the menu to order anything earmarked for 'unique' or 'specialty of the house' or at least spicy before continuing after ordering, "Did the original requesters have any information they left with you? Did your man send back any updates? Would be nice to have a starting place, or at least an idea of what we'll walk into.... Ah. Just to be sure--You've had word, in general, from that township lately?"
(effectively she's trying to gather background information they might've collected, As well as confirming the town itself hasn't lost contact in the 3 weeks since then as well. She's worried about walking into a vanished or destroyed town unprepared. Not something she'd like to see again)
As the others made their way to the table Survivor would have followed, but remained standing after a glance at the small wooden chairs, uncertain they'd support his weight. He'd have remained quiet for most of the chatter, only politely thanking the barmaid for a drink and ordering some food to go with it. After the offer and his new companions discussion quiets for a moment, he'll speak up in his quiet gentle voice, "Yes, I will go search for the man who is lost, I will be happy to travel with you all. We can discuss the reward when we return. When shall we go?" He presents a strange sight, a massive figure leaning on a huge battleaxe, speaking softly and very politely, careful not to interrupt.
You all will be well compensated for this job. On my humane side I want those people found and one of the best friends ive had. The buisness side also doesnt want my guild to lose any more face, and one of my best going missing would be a big blow. I'm willing to give all of you either two hundred gold a piece, or one of the items from the guilds vault. Completely up to you! What do ya say?
"Indeed," Albanus says with a smile. Like Manfred, at the mention of a guild opening up its vault his mind begins to wander, wondering what magical treasures or information might be found therein. Perhaps something to help with my....traveler. At the very thought, a low growl resonates in Albanus' head - a warning? Shaking his head slightly, Albanus says, "I'll lend my talents as well. Does anyone need to get anything before we go? What say you, Leon? Anything out there we should be wary of?"
Albanus finishes his sweet wine and waits for the others to decide.
"Vulgrom's in!" The dwarf would exclaim, raising his glass to it. "Oh aye, they've got a point with the questions; we expecting things to get... messy." He would gently pat his warhammer before a mischievous grin and a mumble into a sip of his drink.
Leon grimaced but only for a moment as he realized he may have caused some social anxiety in the Genasi monk. Not meaning to embarrass Aura with his statement, he turned and nodded towards Manfred while leaning forward slightly to give him a pat on the arm.
Thats what I like to hear! I like this one!
As he was about to ask what had happened to the half elfs ale he lost his train of thought as she had some more pertinent questions for him. The woman ordered and took the opportunity to point to his almost empty glass with a comical expression on his face. Bonney sighed and gave him smile before nodding at the womans request
Well, the family, they didnt have much to go on. Their father and two brothers were gone one morning upon their waking. The mother and daughter have no idea what could have happened. And as far as Johan goes, we usually dont hear back from him until he returns so this isnt too far out of the ordinary. He could pass you on the road and all this worrying could be for nothin'.
He said seemingly trying to convince himself more than anyone else at the table that his friend was fine. And yes there is a magistrate in that town that sent a message that Johan had arrived. A few days ago I sent them a courier asking if they had news on him and they responded yesterday that they had no new updates for me.
He said before nodding at the Goliath standing beside them. He was a behemoth of a man, but spoke quietly and confidently. Something he always liked, though he found himself to be quite the opposite. As soon as you all would like. Although id say the sooner the better. If you need any basic supplies in sure Bonney has most of what you would need there behind the bar.
He said motioning to the woman who was hurriedly making drinks before running back to the kitchen to check on the food, then looking back to the Tiefling. Id say the only thing to look out for are the dire wolves and giant boars. But of course theyre hard to miss! He said laughing joyously at his own stupid joke and nodded to Vulgrom and smiled big as the dwarf patted his warhammer.
Well if you have any more questions go ahead and ask. Otherwise I'll be needing to get a few other things squared away. He said motioning with his head towards the stairs he had just come from and made another motion with his hands like he was doing some sort of paperwork.
"How far da ye mean wen ye sayin not a few miles?" Dain asks. "Is dis place close nuff ta get der taday or en we shouldin be leavin en da mornin?" He picks up the second pint nad takes a long pull, wanting to not leave a full pint on the table if they are hurrying out.
(What time of day is it ? I've been assuming it was evening or late night, due to traveling but realized I don't think I ever confirmed time of day) (If its late night then) "Traveling at night, without transport...Doesn't sound the best, much less having just arrived. If the rest want to go now, we can, otherwise getting a few hours of sleep and heading out at first light seems better. ...Well, unless its like an hour's walk."
(If it's mid day/afternoon) "Heading out after we eat sounds good. Maybe do our best to avoid camping out in territory people keep disappearing from. "

(If it's mid day/afternoon) "Heading out after we eat sounds good. Maybe do our best to avoid camping out in territory people keep disappearing from. "
Manfred nods to Dain. "Agreed. Leaving within the hour is wise. I do not sleep rough, even in the best of circumstances. I do assume this village has a tavern or some place for us to set up a base of operations for this investigation?"
Survivor will simply quietly eat his food when it shows up, paying little attention to what it actually is, just eating whatever is served, watching a listening as the others hammer out the details.
"He can point it on a map, can't he? There's a road to the town, no?" Vulgrom is looking around the bar, tapping fingers as he does, "there's a menu for dinner, right?" He turns back to his ale, which sure is fine.
"I, huh, think I agree with them. Leaving today seems like the best way to go. I already have everything I need, so I'll be leaving as soon as all of you will." Aura replies to the group since the conversation seemed to be mostly focused on that topic. It was to note that Aura didn't order anything yet, nor food, nor any drinks, she seemed content sitting there with nothing in front of her.
At the mention of boars and wolves, a small shiver runs through Albanus’ body. Dirty things, he thinks to himself. “Yes, I’m with the monk on this one,” Albanus says to the group, giving the genasi a smile. I wonder if she could help me? he thinks to himself, recalling that monks have superior control over their inner selves.
Leon nodded as the dwarf and the human male conversated about leaving before he was reminded about something from the bards question. Ah yes thank you for reminding me! He said pulling two more letters out from his pocket and handing them over to Manfred. Give these here to the owner of the inn when you arrive. They state how you are actibg on the guds behalf and will get you free room and board. While youre there if you need anything just send a letter and I'll respond with haste. He said before standing and taking one last long sip of his ale and stepped away from the table to go to the map of the local region and pointed to the town.
Its here. Just take the road heading northeast at the crossroads in the center of town. Shouldnt be more than three or four hour hike from here. As the crow flies at least. He said in response Dain and Vulgrom. Now if you all will excuse me, I've got a few more things to handle before the day is done. He said with a gentle smile, slowly backing his way back towards the stairs. I greatly appreciate your help, all of you. He said before turning on his heels and heading back upstairs.
Just as he did Bonney returned, bringing a few more drinks out as well as a menu for Vulgrom. When she noticed Aura hadnt had anything she stopped beside her, still carrying half an arm full of tankers. You sure you dont want anything?eon dont often let strangers get drinks on the house, you should take advantage. she said smiling to the Genasi. But then again, Mr.Leon does want you all to get going as soon as you can. I can make something to go if youd like?
"Ready fer da road ere..." Dain says, finishing off his second tankard and getting to his feet. "No reason ta be burnin daylight me says." He nods to the others. "Ye all up fer a bit of hiken?" He starts for the door once everyone is ready. "Could av justend told us ta meet up in dis place, probably less hiken if we ad done so..." He grumbles mostly under his breath, barely having let the dust settle since he had walked into town and here he was leaving it already.
