Survivor won’t move from the wall, so as not to excite the guards any, “I am traveling with friends,” nodding towards inside the tavern, “Just enjoying the fresh air while they get things settled. And, I am sorry, I am new to these lands, they are ruled by a baroness who is also a regent?”
The two men look you over, crooking their heads back to be able to look up at your face. Pursing his lips for a second the shorter of the two men pipes up. Aye I can tell. His majesty has taken ill, until he returns from his sick bed his cousin the baroness is acting regent. But back to you, what are you and your friends doin in Riverton? Just passing through mayhaps? He says warily. He doesnt look like hes satisfied yet with his questions though it does appear hes just doing his job.
You and anyone else with a good passive perception can just make out Survivor being hailed outside by the two humans.
((How much Passive Perception is good Passive Perception? Is it 14 since that's Aura's Passive Perception and you decided to mention that Aura specifically heard that?))
Aura still thinks it's weird how the Tiefling keeps smiling at her. The way he's acting overall is enough to make her a little suspicious of his intentions, so she backs a little away while looking him through and through.
((I'm making a pointless Insight check just for RPing purpose since I know there isn't anything to be suspicious over, but Aura doesn't. Also, I'd very much have welcomed you rolling a high number to calm Aura's nerves, but 10 is sadly not high enough, in my opinion.))
((Sorry should have specified. Anyone with a passive perception of 14 or higher can make out the conversation happening outside.))
Seing the giant-kin staying outside, Dain would stay with him. He is not the best to be doing information gathering after all anyway.
"As e sed, be waitin fer our pals inside ta et somin rooms set up." Dain says to the two guards. "Ye watin ta av a pint wit en old dwarf?" He asks them with a friendly smile.

Aura is just barely able to tell there was no ill intent between Albanus's words, so she relaxes her muscles a little, but she continues feeling uncomfortable about it, even if it was all fine. Quietly, she asks Albanus. "H-huh... Could you stop with that? You're just making me feel worse, so, huh, maybe you can leave me alone? I'll warm up with time to all of you, but you're forcing it a bit too much..."
With the fumble, Albanus simply nods and says, “As you wish.” Albanus tries to forget her reaction and orders some wine instead. He sits at the bar staring at the black scales that signal his draconian heritage, grimacing the more he thinks about it...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Looking at Aura a bit gently, understanding a bit the fear of new interactions, and exposure to a new world. Remincingly briefly on her own first steps out into the world a while back, and assuming she herself may not be used to people or the world yet like she had been when she first left her valley-vale. “Sure, I don’t mind sharing one if need be. I tend to sleep early, wake up early anyway. I’m also used to sleeping on the floor while traveling if there’s only one bed.”
Upon hearing inklings of Survivor being questioned, but answering soundly and politely, she’ll turn once more to the barkeep, “Oh, Do you have any warm soup on?” awaiting an answer (If so, she will order herself a bowl), but continuing to listen for problematic noises from outside—although she supposes soon there w ill be a musical ruckus inside and she might have to take a table closer to the door with her soup. Which she will once entertainment starts.
11 Perception , if I need to roll it to maintain moderate awareness of the state of the outside situation.
After guaging there will be a high chance of a sing-song, Vulgrom walks over to Manfred and gives him a pat on the shoulder, "All-Father's blessing, lad! You'll do great!"

Seeing you there now, and seemingly satisfied that the goliath isnt up to any mischief, the guard slowly backs away nodding at the two of you and telling his fellow guardsmen that they had to return to their post.

Things seem to have smoothed over outside. At hearing your request Tom informs you they do have a vegtable soup prepared. Also he tells you that the rooms will be 3 silver a night so thats 18 silver in all if you dont show the letters showing youre acting on behalf of the Giamt slayers guild.
(As a general OOC note. I am fine with showing the note and declaring our purpose. Or not. Either way is ultimately fine with Ashtear. She normally would declare openly when on her own, but she's deferring to the seemingly more experienced at this other folks. Also she's distracted by food and a possible show)
"Okay, I'll take some soup please, I'd like to warm up with some food." Ordering then promptly settling in to see what happens for the moment, leaving discussions of rooms, jobs, and other information gathering until after the inn settles down from new visitors. (but will hand over silver for her half of the room if Aura rents)
Got ta respect em dat knowin when dey be workin en when be time fer drinkin." Dain says as the two guards return to their posts. He leans up agianst the building at the opposite side of the door from the giant-kin. He keeps looking around, trying to see if anything out there is out of the usual...
(As soon as a possible performance was mooted, Manfred pretty much promptly forgot everything contained in the letter).
Manfred grins in response to Albanus's question. "Ah yes, you know something of performance, then, eh? I think a little bit of the old prestige might do quite well, Albanus! Maybe a subtle dimming of the lights at just the right time. You'll know when, especially if you're a man of culture as you appear.
He begins to make his way to the front of the tavern, acknowledging Vulgrom's tap on the shoulder with a bow.
As he arrives at the front of the tavern, Manfred announces himself with a loud, shrill blast of his flute. "Ladies and gentlemen, for your pleasure, I shall perform a few songs that shall delight your eyes, lift your heart, and mayhaps touch your soul. My name is Manfred Metternich, late of the Frozen North of the Empire. Gather round, forget your cares, and relax."
With that Manfred immediately begins playing the flute, launching into a lively popular drinking tune. He will follow that with the song Viscount Metternich and the Farmer's Daughter, which is a foul, very likely slanderous and highly amusing tale that ends with Viscount Metternich's manhood being severed by the titular farmer. Then signaling Albanus to dim the lights, he plays another of his original compositions, Keerla's Lament, a slow, sad ballad of an elven woman seperated forcefully from her lover. Those listening closely from the party may recognize the melody that Manfred was humming early in the day. Playing the song seems to take a great deal of effort, and following its conclusion, Manfred immediately bows and goes to the table that Ashtear parked herself at, and silently orders a drink.

And if Albanus's assistance gave me advantage: 17
Sitting at the bar, at several points, Albanus will use Thaumaturgy with his metamagic - subtle spell ability to create amplified claps, eerie sounds, and dimming the lights/fires when Manfred signals for it, and some extra clapping at the end (OOC: Subtle means that I can cast spells that require verbal or somatic without using those things, i.e. no one looking at me can tell I cast a spell. For this I will say I have used 2 sorcerer points to do these things).
"Well done, Manfred," Albanus says to the bard as he walks up from the bar. "What a treat! Let's hope this sterling performance helps loosen some tongues around here. You have legitimized my fear of farmers and farmer's daughters! Though, if I had to guess those were closer to reality than some may realize. Do we have to worry about a farmer coming to call for our dear Manfred?" Albanus wonders aloud as he sips from his wine, looking alternatively from Ash to Manfred.
(OOC: I am also fine with showing our papers now that the show is over. I was thinking that maybe the performance gives us a bit of an "in" with the crowd).
(Hey, huh, you rolled +13 for those two rolls... Was that supposed to have happened? Are you doing that because of Guidance? Because I feel like there's something wrong since you should have been adding +1d4 instead of +4 to your rolls. Just thought I'd point it out to see what you'd explain.)
Artistic expressions were something that even when isolated in a monastery, you'd get to experience. Aura was used to songs and found it quite pleasing to hear the bard's performance. She never learned to play any instruments herself, but just because she chose not to since she knew they'd teach her if she asked. She was liking it while paying attention to the melody but when she realized the lyrics to the first song, she stopped wanting to hear it and started paying attention to the room more than to the music.
(This is my first PbP on here and I'm not great with the dice tags, so I use the dice roller tab. I do have a +9 to Performance thanks to Expertise, but I couldn't figure out how to add a d4 to the roll and my Performance so I rolled a d4 IRL while I was typing the post. I promise its legit. I'm just technologically incompetent. )

He takes a large drink of his ale and looks around, first at his companions, then the tavernfolk, hoping for a reaction.

While a few of the regulars barely turn their heads at first hearing about your performance, that quickly is replaced by you captivating their full attention. Several of the patrons begin humming or stomping their feet in harmony with the song. Where there was a bit meloncholy, now theres a bit of laughter and merriment as you continue to the next song. With Albanus help the mood softly changes and the ballad seems to be a hit with these few folks here.
With the final notes sung and taking a bow, several patrons stand and applauded, one even coming to hand over a gold piece and give his appreciation for a good performance. The tavern owner arrives at your table with a few drinks and a fuller smile on his face. Very well done good sir! Haven't heard singing like that round here in ages.
Oh and here comes your soup! This is Janice, shes been helping me for the past few weeks, dont know how I managed without her all these years! The halfing says to Ashtear gesturing towards the woman approaching the table. Looking to be in her early 30s and very fair skinned. She has blonde hair green eyes and wearing a traditional red and white dirndl. She seems to ignore everyone else as she sets the tray of soup in front of Ashtear and another glass of wine to Albanus, but takes a long moment to look at Manfred before asking I dont suppose you could give me some singing lessons? Ive always wanted to learn. Not like theres singing coaches out here in Riverton.

(Well, you could've told me that earlier. To roll 1d20+1d4+9, which would be the normal d20 roll +1d4 from guidance +9 from your expertise, you type [ roll ] 1d20+1d4+9 [ /roll ] without the spaces. Or, what I'd probably recommend is making the roll like this: [ roll ] 1d20+9 [ /roll ] + [ roll ] 1d4 [ /roll ] that's basically you rolling your die as normal and then putting the guidance separate so the DM knows to add the two results together.)
"Seemin lik em got da place ready fer us." dain says as the music ends inside and the people start clapping. "No gonna fin oot notin oot ere afta all." He nods to the giant-kin and heads inside, moving over to sit at the bar.

Upon hearing this the halfling looks up sharply. Perhaps now realizing the more severe cause for your arrival. I see I see. Let me just see what our friend Mr.Leon has to say now. He says taking the letter and looking it over briefly before setting it on the table. Right then. I suppose never mind about making up a bill for you all, bein paid for by his guild and all that. Good thing he sent more of you this time, that last chap seemed like a good lad, hope nothin bad happened to the man.

Looking around the room, things seem pretty normal. The regulars are getting drunk, the owner is conversating with patrons here and there. The beermaid seems a little more preoccupied with looking at Manfred and your group than she is actually concerned with serving the customers however.
