"And you. I wasn't insulting you before but simply trying to save your life. A battlefield is a dangerous place for a woman. How do you think this half-orc we are off to kill came to be? I would dare say a fine human woman did not seek out a filthy green skin. No, they **** and pillage and someone of your... Appearance would be a prime target." says Graxxy.
Graxxy looks to the stinky dwarf.
"With me in the front it may be best if you're in the back. We can hold off threats long enough for the others to use their skills." Says Graxxy
Ulala hears half of Graxxy’s words, expending most of her energy to appear sober. It’s questionable whether even her memories from just moments ago are clear.
Ulala has a flashback of what happened two minutes ago:
Sensing the young guard’s weak will, Ulala’s eyes start to glow as she walks up to him. “A real soldier! Wow! Thank you for always protecting us at night. Those dark, lonely nights… You know, if I come back to this city alive, maybe I could thank you for your help on one of nights. Only, it might be a bit less lonely...” Ulala runs her finger along the crossbow that the young soldier is holding.
The solider in the tent moves uncomfortably for a moment but says to Ulala "If you promise to return it and when you get back, you maybe fancy me to a night out? I'll let you borrow it for the day and I'll give you 20 bolts. The name is Darin." he holds out a shaking hand to Ulala.
Ulala recalls feeling the inexperienced man’s excitement as she grasped his hand in agreement. “We might just have a deal, Darin...”
Returning to the present moment, Ulala looks down to realize that she is holding a crossbow. “Don’t be so quick to make judgments, paladin. My race is quite familiar with the mixing of species… Besides, have you not noticed the tools that our kind friends have provided us?” Ulala raises the crossbow to her eye-line and makes a shooting motion towards the sky. One can almost see her make a pewpew gesture with her lips. It is difficult for the young woman to keep up her usual appearances this early in the morning.
Before Ulala leaves the tent, a frantic Darin asks "Well could you at least tell me your name to tie me over for now?"
Melcher responds to Gorlok saying "Our previous scouting reported that their is a single large Orc encampment that Grush is normally is at. There are fewer smaller campsites that surround the large encampment. It should be easy enough to track based on the trails throughout the woods. Grush likes to adorn himself and his lieutenants with the bones of his enemies, so my advice is follow the bones."
The group, now fully assembled is greeted my Melcher by saying “Good morning. Glad to see we have no deserters or late sleepers in this group. This unit is in charge of starting the southern flank of the forest. From here you will head about 2 hours south then west into the forest. Search for any and all encampments of orcs and eliminate them as you see fit. Remember, Grush is worth 300g dead and 500g alive. I wish you the best of luck.”
The group departs heading two hours south, then turning west towards the looming forest.
The forest was colossal, clear, and prospering. Its canopy was demanded by juniper, pine, and buxus, enough light shimmered through their crowns for vibrant herbs to grow in the stony grounds below. Curving branches held onto the occasional tree, and a range of flowers, which desperately tried to avoid the shadows, spruced up the otherwise uniform view. A discord of sounds, belonging mostly to the swaying of tree tops in the wind was the only noise that greeted them. With a final agreement the group set into the western forest in search of the orcs.
OOC: Could I get one person to roll a "Survival" check to track the orcs. If multiple people roll I will take the lowest of the rolls
OOC: Moving into this next area, it got hard to tell if I left the top of the trees on, so we will only be seeing the tree trunks. Here is a quick legend.
For trees, they are large tree on average 50-60 feet tall with the lowest branches being bout 20-30 feet off the ground. The tree trunks are large enough that if fully behind a tree, it gives full cover.
For bushes, they are thick bushes that can bee traveled through, but you move at 50% move speed reduction. They also give half cover in regards to trying to shoot through them at someone behind them.
Rocks are large boulders on the order of about 10 feet tall at its pinnacle, they can be climbed over and on, but climbing up requires 20 feet of movement per boulder. Jumping down will be considered free since the boulder is not high enough to cause fall damage. Being totally behind a rock will count as total cover.
"A woodland battle it is then... I prefer an open field but the Lord of Battles tests his faithful accordingly." says Graxxy.
Graxxy puts his shield on his left arm and holds the net in his right hand. He slaps the net against the shield a few times and twists his head around in a stretching matter.
"Watch the trees. This is their home. They will know we are coming far before we know where they are. Keep close tanks and use the trees and rocks for cover." says Graxxy motioning high and low accordingly with his hands.
"The good thing about attacking someone at home is... It's hard to hide your tracks when you walk the same paths for tendays on end." says Graxxy as he begins to look along the ground for worn paths.
"They said the main encampment was surrounded by smaller camps. I say we cut through one of these and go straight through the middle and kill half breed. Douse the flame of hope that burns within these orcs by taking their leader before they can mount a defense. What say any of you?" asks Graxxy.
"It certainly seems like the way that eould save as many human lives as possible, but it would probably put us relatively alone in the middle of their encampment. I do think killing him would be the simplest method, but might give him a warriors death still honorable and heartening to orcs. If you can humiliate their great leader. That might truly bream themn and if he lives earn us more coin."
Percy smiles at the thought of extra coin
" but humiliating an orc is another challenge as well."
“Are we there yet?” Ulala asks tiredly, eyes half open. She grabs her gourde for some water and realizes that it is filled with alcohol. Recoiling and wincing at its smell, she turns to her party: “Does anyone have some water? I was not ready for this kind of we...” Ulala looks dizzy. “What’s the weather like right now again…?”
with a toothful grin gorlok reaches deep into his beard and pulls out a water skin for ulala. covered in dirt, hair and crusty dried spittle, its clear that the flask has seldom, if ever, been cleaned.
“oolaaala Aye give you a swig o mine fer a swig of yurs”
(Appearing out of the shadows and addressing the militia quartermaster) I would like to requisition 40 arrows and a rapier from your stocks sir. (Testing the balance of his new weapon and addressing the party) If it would be helpful I can scout ahead and investigate these orc camps so that we can formulate our plan of attack.

As the group advances into the woods it becomes quite obvious that this will not be a stealth mission. The clanking of chainmail and weapons can be heard from far away. Regardless, Graxxy peers into the forest, through the undergrowth and is able to an orc foot print. With due diligence, the group is able to follow the footprints further and further into the woods. After about an hour, Loramir silent but always diligent, spots 2 groups of 3 orcs as they seem to have been planning an ambush!! Loramir (OOC I'm assuming you would notifty) quickly alerts his fellow party members and everyone is ready to defend themselves.
Percy once again reaches deep into his bag and takes out what appears to be a modified crossbow.
"I'm going to miss that bag, but I think the sweet taste of victory will do and that look on Gorlok's face is definitely worth it."
He touches the mechanism and it begins glowing with blue energy and spinning up.
Graxxy looks down at the crossbow.
"That'll do Percy." says Graxxy.
Graxxy then turns to the hungover Ulala.
