Kestrell snaps out of his daydream to hear the last of Balrich's taunting of Vin.
"It's going to be kind of hard to do that with my foot up your ass. Leave her alone and watch over your boss. We wouldn't want any harm to come to him while he's on your watch, would we?"
Vin is going to step forward out of the corner and for the first time make direct eye-contact with Balrich, allowing him to see that her eyes are pitch black. She then smiles to Kestrell as he confronts the man, and reverts her attention back up to the thug standing over her. "I'm impressed. It must be difficult for you, exhausting your entire vocabulary in one sentence. If you know of any 'real men' around here, feel free to send them by. If you're talking about yourself, however, I'm afraid any woman can tell you're not half the man you think you are. Now, as my friend said, if you'd get back to your job of standing quietly by the door, that would be great."
Balrich looks back and forth between Vin and Kes. He’s not used to people standing up to him and Vin’s cool confidence combined with Kes’ threat have unnerved him. Probably frigid anyway, I’ll not waste my time on either of you. He looks back at Graddik clearly ready to be away from this place. Where the hells is Lors, Halfin’s been gone long enough by far. He says to no one in particular. ((I may not have been clear, but it’s actually just Balrich in there with you guys, only he and Halfin came in with Graddik.))
Con walks past the door (still on the outside, right?) keeping his head down, and finds a nice dark alley where he can see the tough and the door to the inn, and maybe even where he can hear Lors' stupid voice, and he puts his hands in his pockets, leans against a wall, looks up and down the street as if he's watching or waiting for some passer-by, and settles down to wait.
Mendax monitors Graddik by checking his heart by resting his ear on Graddik's chest while Kes and Vin get into a spat with Balrich. Satisfied with his own work he looks up at Balrich and says, "I am going to get a bit of fresh air and some silence. Balrich, keep your mouth shut and your eyes on your boss. Vin, if you don't mind cleaning up the place while I step out for a moment. Kes, keep an eye on Balrich, make sure he doesn't tamper with any of my tinctures and tonics." Mendax then takes a step out into the street and takes a deep breath. Mendax's thoughts go to his brother and smile creeps across his face knowing that his brother is out of debt and danger. He then looks up and down the street for Con. "Where the hells are you?" he says under his breath.
Vin stands firm as she locks eyes with Balrich, but as soon as he turns away she shudders and wraps her arms around herself for a moment. Then, at Mendax's request, she busies herself with Prestidigitating the mess away around the work area, and returning everything to its rightful place. She finds a moment of solace in this work, but also catches herself glancing to the window, and mutters a quick prayer for Con's safety.

Con remains outside and posts up across the street in an inconspicuous spot where he keep an eye on the door. The tough looks up at you for a moment assessing your threat level based on your new location before giving a half sigh and going back to his whittling. You can hear Lors’ voice occasionally above the general din of the tavern but you can’t quite make out what he’s saying. The door opens and you see a serving girl setting plates of food and a new pitcher of ale in front of Lors and his men, it seems they won’t be going anywhere for a while now that Halfin has been taken care of. What would you like to do?
Balrich is beginning to sweat a bit now, he glares at Kes with a bit of desperation She’s enjoying Graddik’s hospitality at the moment. If you want her to stay happy and healthy you’ll watch your tone with me. Graddik will hear about anything you do while he’s out, so just behave yourself.
He turns to look at Mendax, clearly a bit uneasy about the dwarf as well. I won’t touch your things, dwarf, just get Graddik on his feet so we can be gone from here.
Mendax, you step out into the crisp Fall night, the deep sigh of relief that comes from knowing your brother is safe almost mists the air.
Vin, Balrich is now studiously avoiding your gaze and he jumps a bit as you magically clean up the mess left from the surgery. You see Mendax standing outside by the window as you say your prayer for Con.
Mendax blows hot air into his hands as he stands outside for a beat longer and then turns around and walks into his makeshift medical office. He looks down at Graddik and then looks over at Balrich. "I don't know where your friend went, but you and your boss Graddik need to get a move on. I can give him something that will give him a shock of energy. Enough that he won't be too much of a burden for you," Mendax says as he passes by Vin and heads over to his set of apothecary tools and starts concocting medicine for Graddik.
She’s enjoying Graddik’s hospitality at the moment. If you want her to stay happy and healthy you’ll watch your tone with me. Graddik will hear about anything you do while he’s out, so just behave yourself.
"You don't watch a tone, you listen to it, dipshit."Kestrell puts his horn to his lips and plays an annoyingly high pitched note.
((Mendax has the fantasy equivalent of smelling salts, which may well be just plain old smelling salts, so no roll necessary.))
As Mendax goes to get the smelling salts Balrich responds to Kestrell. Look, boy, I get paid to keep my eyes open not my mouth And if you keep running yours I might shut it for free. He is feeling emboldened now that he knows Graddik will be up soon.
Mendax pops the salts under Graddik’s nose and his eyes snap open and he sits up. Where’s Lors? Bloody Halfin, I’ll have his guts for garters. Let’s get a move on, Balrich, we’ve imposed on these fine people long enough. He says with a sneer as he gets up off the table. Balrich sneers his own sneer at Kestrell as he says I think the boy had a question for you before we leave, boss, wants to know about sweet little Racheal. Graddik fixes Kes with a cold smile. Is that so? Well, she’s doing just fine down at our place and if we get our money soon she’ll be doing fine when she leaves too. Feel free to stop by and see her durning business hours, boy, any friend of Mendax etcetera etcetera, we’re down on Grafton street, Mendax knows where. Goodbye now. With that Graddik and Balrich move for the door and if no one stops them will head back to their headquarters.
As the two thugs leave, Vin crosses her arms and scowls at their backs, then turns to address Mendax and Kestrell. "Well, that was... annoying. So what's the plan now? If the two of them find Con... You know what Graddik's men did to him last time, and Con won't back down." Vin begins, and then focuses her attention on Mendax. "Doctor, how long until... well, until Graddik isn't an issue anymore?"
Mendax watches Graddik and Balrich leaves and then lets out a heavy sigh. He wipes some of the sweat that has accumulated at his brow and then answers, "In three days Graddik will feel a little light-headed, he'll want to maybe rest, and then when he goes to nap and will never wake up again."
Mendax then watches Kes pack his bag. "What's your plan, Kes? Wait the three days before you do anything brash. Graddik will be out of the way." Mendax will the walk Kes to the door and when Kes leaves Mendax locks it.
Con gives a short nod of satisfaction at a job seemingly well done, adjusts his hood to keep it low over his face, and heads back to the temple and Mendax's office.
Vin glances around the office with unease, arms folded as if she were hugging herself.
"I'll come with you, Kestrell. Something in the air tonight is making me uneasy; I don't like the idea of you out there by yourself. I doubt we'll be able to see her at this time of night, but maybe we'll be able to make sure she's actually alright. If we're lucky we might find Con, too. The last thing I want is either of you showing up bloodied on our doorstep again." She then turns to address Mendax as they are leaving. "Doctor, not much is open, but do you require anything while we're out?"

Vin, give me a intimidation check at advantage because of Kestrell’s aid.
