The assassin looks furtively around. Ghazrim's thugs begin to close in, some of them calling out to the others. "We've got her!"
"Argh! Fine, I just wanted the beholder dead! I'm sure that's what they wanted. That's why they sent the Gargoyle to give me the gem, I mean, why else would it have done that? Don't let them take me, please!"She looks towards the approaching thugs. "They'll just turn me over to Sirak, and then they'll return me to my House in Menzoberranzen, and then they'll just kill me! Probably... unless I kill the beholder! Oooooooooohhhh." The assassin begins cursing in drow. She seems frantic, and a little mad. The signs are there based on your experiences in the Underdark.
Meanwhile, outside the warehouse, Peebles, the deep gnome with the bag you found in the Duergar Enclave, approaches the area where the attack happened. Belwar, you see him quietly move in and pick up something off the ground, stuffing it in his pale leather bag. Then he rushes back through the pavilion to where people are talking. Sirak and Ghazrim seem to have come to an understanding. Sirak and her drow will return to their enclave. Ghazrim will question the assassin, and then return her to Sirak for them to deal with. It was all just a misunderstanding, but it seems the drow and the Zhentarim would not be forming any alliances this day.
Grimnir pokes Brox's shoulder to get her attention. "Could you ask Dawnbringer to remove any madness? It seems that the Underdark has claim another one..."
Brox nods at Grimnir. "Let's give this a try. But Dawnbringer won't be able to help if she's too far gone."
Brox carefully places Dawnbringer on the shoulder of the assassin and let's her light flow through it (Casting Lesser Restauration). Then she watches for any sign of improvement.
Then she asks: "Who wanted the beholder dead? Who are 'they'?" Then she adds: "Could you show us the gem please?"
The spell from the sword seems to calm down the assassin slightly, but her eyes still look fearful, darting around. It doesn't seem to have cured her, but it has stopped her ranting.
Grimnir is watching closely and as Brox start to ask her questions, he uses his spores to give Brox a simulacre of a divine aura, hoping it will help her interrogating the assassin.
(casting Guidance, you can add a 1d4 to your persuasion roll !!!)
Kinyel smiles at Brox. "Well, when the gargoyle gave me the gem, I assumed it was from House Druu'giir asking me to kill the beholder. Only then could I make up for my past failures. I was so close! If only you hadn't been here," she sighs. "Well, there's no hope for me now, so you might as well see it."She reaches in to a small pouch on her belt and produces a fist sized black jewel. Rather than gleam with the torch light like a normal gem would, this one almost appears to suck in the light, as if it weren't really there, but as she turns it in her hand, you can see hint of edges, and the facets of the gem. It is beautiful in its dark fashion.
At this point the thugs and others are closing in. One of them sees the gem and calls out for Ghaz'rim. He's gonna want to see this.
Brox jumps forward reacting within milliseconds from seeing the gem. "I don't believe this gem was yours to have. And it's not Ghazrim's either. Hand it to me and we'll find his rightful owner!"
Brox is able to snatch the gem from Kinyel both before the assassin has time to rethink her decision, and before the thugs and Ghaz'rim arrive. When they do, they pick up the drow, who does not resist. She seems listless, in the manner of someone who has given up. Ghaz'rim arrives, with Lorthuun behind him. "Take her away, I'll be there to question her in a moment. For now, I need to talk to our new "guests." He utters the last word in a way that shows he is clearly unhappy with your arrival, but he also can't deny your help in stopping the assassin. "Come with me, you can tell me all about why you've been sent down to this lovely city," he says sarcastically.
He leads you out to the pavilion where they had originally intended to parlay with the drow. "Okay, now that that business is behind us, tell me what you're hear for, and how Ghaz'rim can help."
Brox grabs the gem and a dark feeling overcomes her, just for a second. She drops the gem in a her pocket and looks around for Flink, the worried gnome.
When the others walk towards the pavilion, Brox picks up Flink by the scruff and growls in his ear:"Tell me everything about that gem you're looking for. Don't leave anything out!"
He leads you out to the pavilion where they had originally intended to parlay with the drow. "Okay, now that that business is behind us, tell me what you're hear for, and how Ghaz'rim can help."
Grimnir looks around... "I do not know exactly what is going on here. I thought this was a neutral place."
"it's all too chaotic. The same chaos we see in the Underdark. Demons are unleashed, Demon Lords have left the Abyss and are invading our realm. But this is not random, there is a pattern, somebody or something must be the cause of that and that what we are trying to discover."
Grimnir stops a few second to see is Ghaz'rim is following, then continues. "The King Bruenor send us here to meet you, you see, you have some information we need - in particular the location of the Stone Giant Library of Gravenhollow. We NEED it, the world needs it..."
As he talks, Grimnir will use his connection to nature and release some spores to relax the people around (OOC: using guidance , just in case i need to persuade)
"Gravenhollow? Is that what this is all about? You should have just mentioned that before, no need for the theatrics with the drow!"Ghaz'rim lets out a loud laugh, looking around at the group."Well, anyone sent by the Black Network is welcome here, and I recognize Aligor there, so you must have some very important business indeed. Here, take this." Ghaz'rim removes a ring from his finger and hands it to Grimnir. It's a simple gold band with a ruby setting in the shape of a star. "That will lead the way to the library. Now, you're welcome to stay here, but as you can see, we have a fair bit of unrest in Mantol-Derith at the moment. Don't want to bore you with our politics, but it seems we aren't going to be allying with the drow against the duergar or svirfneblin anytime soon,"he lets out an exasperated sigh. "Probably for the best, they likely would have back stabbed us the moment they had the chance."
"It was dark, black, beautiful! But it was also frightening. Did you find it? Tell me! We must return it to Yantha or the the deep gnomes will never stop the Duergar! Oh... dear, I never should have tried to sell it," says Flink.
Grimnir takes the ring and place it on one of his fingers. "That easy, hein? Well thank you Ghaz'rim, we''ll be on our way soon."Looking at Brox and his other companions, he adds "There was this case of kidnapping, a gnome to deliver form the duergar, we might look into that."

"That could actually be of use. If you could manage to quell the feud between the duergar and deep gnomes, perhaps things could get back to normal around here. It's supposed to be a town of trade! Not fighting. Perhaps it was inevitable..."Ghaz'rim trails off, then bids you farewell as he goes off to check in on their prisoner. Some of the other Zhentarim escort you out of the warehouse, and shut the door behind you.
You find yourselves back with your retinue between the Drow and Zhentarim enclaves discussing what path to take next.
Grimnir, the ring on your finger seems to have a magical aura about it. You can feel it pulling you in a particular direction, which you assume to be Gravenhollow. Following the pull of the ring, you can probably navigate the caverns of the Underdark to each your destination.
Brox, Flink is asking for your help in rescuing his master Yantha. He wants to return the black gem to her, and is sorry he ever tried to sell it in the first place, as it's led to so much trouble.
Belwar, you notice that Peebles, the deep gnome with the leather pouch, seems to have gone missing. You last saw him picking up something from the ground right after the battle.
Oorr, you're trying to make sense of all that is happening, discussing options with Aligor and the other members of your entourage, when a voice calls out to you.
"Pardon! Excuse me, I couldn't help but see all that ruckus with the drow and Zhentarim just now. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Zilch Q'Leptin, a drow wizard of some renown. At your service,"says the voice, and you turn to see a male drow with white hair, cut short on one side, and left long on the other. Half of his face is scarred with what may be acid burns. He carries a purple bag, wears robes of black and purple, and walks with a slight limp, using a quarterstaff to brace himself. "You see, I was just passing through on my own journey, when this place sort of devolved into what you see now. It seems you've scared off the other drow. They've gone into hiding in their own warehouse. I'm sure they've locked themselves in, but there are other ways, if you think you might like to follow. I also know some of the area. Perhaps you need a guide?" He smiles, and awaits a reply.

"Greetings. Forgive me for being rude, but it is rather convenient that you come out right here and now, after chaos has been spread."
Oorr points at Flink the gnome, saying: "If you can rescue her mistress, we would be grateful."
Grimnir releases his telepathic spores to talk to his companions privately.
"Good, now that we have a bit of time. I think we all saw the Gem that Brox picked up. It looked different, doesn't it ?" "Can I remind you what Maegra, the fire titan told us...."Beware the black gem... it is tainted by the deceiver... must be destroyed... send it back to the abyss."..." I would be tempted to destroy it. What do you all think?"

*I agree with you, friend. This gem has proved to be quite elusive and a chaos-bringer. When we are in a safe place, I will destroy the gem with Eye of the Storm.*

"It's not convenient, my friend. I'd much rather be any place than here given the current state of affairs. I was merely sitting on a bench eating my lunch when you and your troupe walked in and caused all this mess. I thought, now, there's a group that could use my help. But I am no hero. I'm not going to go and rescue some wayward deep gnome. No. You handle your own affairs, and if you wish to take me up on any of my offers, then you let me know. I'll be over there,"says Zilch. Before you have time to reply, he walks over to a bench about 30 feet away and sits down, opening a small box, and removing some sort of mushroom from it which he proceeds to eat.
