Brox picks up that something must have happened, as people look around, some of them afraid. She grabs Grimnir's shoulder. "What's going on?"
Grimnir uses his telepathic spores to answer to Brox " Sorry Brox, I have just switch my spores on. There has been a big noises coming from there, battle sounds. Let's go see it !"
Aligor nods and starts taking various members to the lifts to head West to the Zhentarim encampment. (Area 7a)
The four of you head up the other side to the market stalls in the East. (Area 3b)
When you finally climb to the main level of the cavern, you see a stretch of tables, tends, and goods that would appear as a busy market, except that they are all turned over, valuables strewn about, tents toppled and debris everywhere. Among the destroyed buildings are the corpses of giant lizards and steeders. About 50 paces in front of you, you see two blurry svirfneblin run across an open area, with two enlarged duergar hot on their heels. Just behind the duergar, hiding under some wreckage, you see a third deep gnome, cowering in his hiding spot. He carries a pale bag under his arm, and his eyes dart around frantically. Other noises of clanging and yelling can be heard further to the North and East towards what looks like a large warehouse (Area 6b).
Oorr cast Beast Sense to make Aera's senses his. With simple squawks, he conveys to the small eagle to stay on and follow deep gnome in hiding and carrying the pale bag. Oorr then leads the party to the warehouse.
You quickly follow after the Duergar chasing the blurred gnomes as they run North. They seem focused on attacking the two creatures, but they're having trouble hitting them. Belwar recognizes this a Blur that the deep gnomes have cast on themselves.
As you reach the North end of the market, you see a dozen bodies of svirfneblin, slain by duergar weapons scattered across a fungal garden. As the warehouse comes into view, you see 4 enlarged duergar banging on large stone doors with war picks, the noise you heard before.
The blurred svirfneblin, originally running to the warehouse, stop suddenly when they see the large duergar banging on the doors. Two more duergar appear out of thin air in front of the deep gnomes, grinning wickedly. The gnomes are now pinned between 4 duergar.
Oorr, your beast sense informs you that the lonely deep gnome spotted your group and followed after you. He is staying a short distance away, watching you. He does not seem to have noticed the hawk.
(OOG You're not technically in battle yet, but let's go ahead and roll initiative for the current situation!)
Grimnir runs towards the Duergars that surround the two gnomes, hands up and open, showing as little agression as possible, and shouts.... "What is this madness !!! I thought that Mantol-Derith was a free trading hub for races of the Underdark. Why are you fighting each others ?"
Brox follows Grimnir. Unsure on the parties involved in this fight, she stands back to gain an insight on what is actually going on - and what side needs help.
Brox, the Duergar definitely seem intent on harming the svirfneblin they were chasing, and judging by the deep gnome bodies littering the area, they are attempting to wipe them out. Most of the tools and scattered stalls seem gnome sized, which indicates this area of Mantol-Derith might be the deep gnome's enclave, and therefore the warehouse belongs to them. The one that the duergar are currently trying to break into with large pick hammers.
Grimnir, when you rush out the two Duergar nearest you turn to face you and your group, somewhat startled. One of them recovers and steps towards you. "This doesn't concern you overlander. You and your friends should retreat before things get messy!" Behind him you see the large duergar attempting to smash the svirfneblin with war picks. Their blur spell seems to helping them avoid the attacks, but they are surrounded now, with nowhere to run, so it's just a matter of time.

Oorr will fly up and land in a position between the duergar and the svirfneblin. "Duergar, you are outnumbered. And what will happen when the other factions will known you are wiping out the gnomes? Stop, or death will fall upon you."

Oorr, when you say this, the duergar near the gnomes exchange glances, and then the lead Duergar says, "Well, can't say we didn't warn you." He grins, as 6 more duergar appear out of thin air, enlarge, and move to attack. The duergar near the gnomes continue to attack the helpless svirfneblin.

"Good going, Oorr; you got them to show part of their hand!" I have to shout to be heard over the winds created by my spell.
I position a storm sphere where it'll hit nine duergar and inconvenience four more. A few syllables, carried away on the wings of the wind, combine with a mirrored pair of lightning-laced gestures and a sizable surge of power to give birth to a particularly chaotic miniature hurricane. Intricately interlocking cyclones buffet the duergar (4 bludgeoning damage, DC 15 Str save for none) and generate sparks where they meet. Some of those sparks form up into a full-fledged lightning strike that (25) hits the duergar in the center of the storm for 17 lightning damage.
Meanwhile, my shield guardian engages Grimnir's duergar with a stomp to the hip (22) that slides off his armor, then pivots slightly on that heel and drops into a crouch that leads into a punch to the neck (12, 15 bludgeoning damage) that knocks the duergar's head into the cobblestone, knocking him out--with potentially fatal injuries.

The bolt of lightning sweeps through multiple duergar dealing a massive shock to them as it passes. When it finally hits its target in a duergar at the door to the warehouse, the bolt of lightning explodes, and pieces of the duergar fly everywhere. Grimnir flexes his muscles and runs behind Oorr. "Nice, a bit of action !"
