Belwar's storm rumbles and then the rumbling a thunder turn to shock and fire as the Duergar are nearly wiped out. Grimnir runs at the survivors and takes down another one, leaving just one Duergar alive near the deep gnomes. At the edge of the fireball, a lone duergar survives, while the two left at the door to the warehouse exchange wary glances...
The svirfneblin, seemingly ecstatic about the change in their luck disengage and continue to flee from battle.
Oorr flies upward and focuses of the magical connection with Aera, to check on the movements of the sneaky gnomes.
The gnome with the small bag is still watching from a distance as you take on the Duergar, trying to stay out of sight. The other gnomes are making a hasty retreat towards a pool of brackish water at the back of the cavern. It seems you've given them some room to get away.
The duergar who are left, look sideways at each other, drop their war picks, and shrink down to normal size. One of them steps forward to address all of you, "Alright alright, thas enough. Killed enough of us 'ave you? I didn't much like this lot, but I ain't willing to die for 'em neither. We'll be on our way to our own enclave, and let you deal with the miserable little retches." He spits after the last word, and then motions with his head for the others to follow him, as he begins to move away.

Another bolt of lightning arcs off from the storm, delivering a 16-damage shock to the duergar who spoke, then I let them leave. "Miserable little wretches, indeed," I grumble.
"Ah, that was not wise to talk like that to our gnome friend I guess. The rest of you lot can go." then looking at the other gnome, Grimnir says: "Can someone explain to me what is going on ?"
"Ah, that was not wise to talk like that to our gnome friend I guess. The rest of you lot can go." then looking at the other gnome, Grimnir says: "Can someone explain to me what is going on ?"
Grimnir, as you look for one of the deep gnomes that ran away to answer your questions, a faint voice is heard from behind you.
"They... uh, that is... I saw what happened, and can tell you.. it, well.. you see, the Duergar think the Svirneblin have something of theirs... so, they, hmm, it seems, kidnapped the Svirfneblin leader, and then the Svirfneblin barricaded themselves in their warehouse when, well, you saw the Duergar attack." You all turn to see the deep gnome with the small bag that Oorr and Aera had been keeping an eye on. He's pointing towards the warehouse that the duergar were trying to break in to. The other deep gnomes appear, and rush to the warehouse door. They knock on the door in a particular pattern, and you see the door move slightly ajar to let them in. Before it shuts, you see another deep gnome pop its head out, and beckon to you all.
Brox makes sure she picks up the javelin, that is still stuck in one of the dead Duergar. Then she tries to follow the conversation about what is happening here. She looks around if there is any statue, like the one Grimnir described from his scrying.
Oorr drops the spell and approaches the new deep gnome: "What is it in the bag?"
"Just the tools of my trade, and some supplies... uh, you see, I came to Mantol Derith to trade and seek out the truth of the rumors that a beholder lives here! But, well, when I arrived I found the Duergar and Deep Gnomes fighting. I have not seen the Drow camp yet... or, uh, the others, from the surface world, the Zhentarim. My name is Peebles, by the way. Who are you?"says the somewhat shy Peebles.

Brox, you see no sign of a statue, just the scattered market stalls, and the dead duergar. As you scan the area, you see the deep gnome that has come out of the warehouse that the Duergar were trying to break into. They appear to be motioning you over to the warehouse entrance, and rather urgently.

Grimnir approaches. " Greetings, my name is Grimnir. You're talking about a beholder. I saw one. I must say that those rumours are true. It was with a human. We are also trying to understand what is going on here"

"Oh, my that is, uh, good news. But... if it is not here, then perhaps it is a the enclaves across the trench?"suggests Peebles.
Oorr, Peebles seems a little odd, but as far as you can tell, he is telling you the truth. There may be more to his arrival in Mantol-Derith than he is letting on, but that could just be because he has only just met you.

The duergar that are still inside the storm sphere need to make another Str save or take 7 damage.
Then I hit seven with a 23-damage fireball. Then (27) the storm zaps another one for 25 lightning damage.
Then my shield guardian charges the duergar attacking the gnomes (14, 13), but its blows merely hammer into the duergar's shield.
