You have never had reason to trust Jorlan, but you know he's been sulking and distant since Shoor replaced him as Ilvara's lover. From the desperate way in which he speaks to you now, you believe he will do as he says, and somehow provide you a means to escape the slave pen. It's likely his assistance will only go that far, however, and it will be up to you to escape Velkynvelve and the rest of the drow.
"Smart," Jorlan says. "Tomorrow morning when you are served your meal, I'll leave the gate to your pen open, and distract the guards momentarily, giving you time to escape." He points to the stalactite just across from you. "That is the guard room, and above it is an armory. I suggest you make your way quietly there, grab what you can, and then jump off the edge into the web below. If you can contend with the spiders, then you may be able to fall to the water below. The rest is up to you." Jorlan abruptly steps away from the gate as the guard comes over.
"What are you up to, Jorlan. Your shift isn't til morning," says the guard.
"Just thought I'd come soak in the misery of these prisoners," replies Jorlan, "It's so refreshing to see them suffer." The other guard laughs, and they walk away together. Jorlan shoots a pointed glare back at the pen before disappearing around the corner.
"Spiders will be a tough fight but we don't need to fight till death... But we need to know where we are going from here..."
Turning to the rest of the slaves." Does anybody knows where is our location ? Any city close by ? I noted 3 tunnels, one going south, one north-west and one north-east" Turning towards Sarith "You know this place. What is the best way to reach the surface from here ?"
(O0C outside the slave pen you can cast any prepared spells that do not require a material component. You will need to find a component pouch or your arcane focus to cast the rest, and your spell book to prepare new spells.)

Sensing the need, Stool releases spoors into the air, allowing everyone to speak telepathically. He then begins hopping excitedly as you hear the joyous voice of the sprout in your mind, "Neverlight Grove! Neverlight Grove! We could go home! The Myoconid could provide shelter and aid, I'm sure!"
Sarith gives a wry smile. "Perhaps this grove is not a bad idea. I can navigate, but I'm not sure of the best way to reach the surface. Perhaps there would be information and supplies in this grove. At the very least, we'd be returning Stool to his home. I believe the western tunnel is our best bet."
"Bah!"snorts Bupiddo,"If you want supplies, then we should head to Gracklstugh. My people make the finest equipment in the Underdark, and if we can somehow cross the Darklake, we'd save a lot of time. Nobody likes hoofing it through the dark."
"The Darklake," warbles Shuushar, "yes, the lake, I can sense it to the West. My people live upon the lake in Sloobludoop. It is not far. We could provide boats to cross the lake."
"Well, I will be of no use to you all. As an Elf Prince, I am unfamiliar with the Underdark,"states Derendil. "I will happily go with you, however. Perhaps I can find someway to break this curse."
"I don't know the area very well, either, but I'm a fair good tracker. And we'll need supplies and food for the journey,"says Eldeth,"I am a bit worried about the wee one though. She did just lose her brother."
"Well, she'll be from Blingdenstone, same as me,"Jimjar chimes in,"and I'd wager a small fortune that she has family there. Problem is... we'd be traveling pretty close to the drow city of Menzoberranzan. That would be the North tunnel. If you want to find access to the surface world, Bling town is the place to be."
All of the prisoners look around at each other, uneasy about traveling so close to the dark elf city. Travel will be tough, even if you manage to find your gear or some new supplies. And it's likely Ilvara will pursue you once she finds you've escaped. Finally, Ront speaks up, "I don't know where the hell we are, but even if that drow does leave the gate open, we ain't getting far all shackled up like this." He holds up his chained hands and gives the heavy metal links a shake.
"Good point, Ront. I have a iron bar hidden here, maybe we could use it as a lever and break our shakes ?". Grimnir gives the iron bar to Ront, "give it a try." Grimnir glance at Valrish. "Or maybe our strong Dragonborn barbarian here could give it a go" (OOC) Grimnir is helping Ront/Valrish if there's any Strength Test to get advantage.
"For the direction, well, it looks like West is a good idea, toward the home of Shuushar, Stool and Bupiddo. Crossing that Darklake might be a good way to lose any drows trying to follow us" He looks at Eldeth sadly. " I don't really want to run toward Menzoberranzan. We could get to Blingdenstone once we resupply at Gracklstugh ?"
Grimnir turns toward the others. "What do you say?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC anyone who would like can attempt a strength check to break the chains, and/or a dexterity check to slip out of them. Using the iron bar will lower the DC. And aiding each other will give you advantage.)
Ront takes the iron bar, sets it through his shackles, and then slams his wrists on the ground.
Strengh Check: 13
The impact makes a loud noise, but the guards appear to be far enough away they don't hear it. Ronts chains are still intact, but he seems to have loosened them a little. He tries to wiggle his hand free.
Dexterity Check: 10
Ront's hands slip free from the shackles. His lips curl up into a smile, as he hands the rod back to Grimnir.
Oorr towards his compaions: " The risk is high, but it might be our only chance to escape. I say we take it."
Valrish grunts, nodding. "Okay for me, but I don't trust him." He glares at the drow.
