Valrish rushes up behind Oorr and Grimnir tackling the tiny Derro to the ground before he can run away.
Meanwhile, three derro have broken away from the mob throwing debris to attack you directly. They are wielding makeshift spears as weapons. "Go back home! We don't want you here! Take your hands off him!" they shout.
(OOG Each of you has one action to take (including Oorr, since you don't have to grapple Droki now. Then go ahead and roll initiative. That will make this easier.)
Since I'm not using my attack of Opp. I'm placing my manacles on the feet and hands of the Derro. "Ok we have the load, time to tun for the doors, back to the duergars. Valrish, can you transport him ?"

OOC: Any idea where the speedy thing was coming from, you said he clicked his heels... does he wear uncommon boots ?

Oorr initiative 21
(OOC as the derro close around you, the only visible way out is down that hole, or back through the gate you entered. You have a clear path to the hole in the ground. There are about two dozen derro blocking your path to the gate.)
Scene: You have caught up to and grabbed Droki. Grimnir has placed manacles on him to prevent him running away again. Droki is struggling against his bindings, calling for help. A dozen derro rush out of the crowd, armed with makeshift spears and crossbows, while others toss debris at you. They are calling for your death, and claiming you are duergar sympathizers.
(OOG I forget you have NPC companions sometimes. Eldeth, Derendil, and JimJar are with you. For expediency, we'll say they are helping fend off the derro so you can focus on capturing Droki, however these dozen derro have broken through and are now attacking you.)
OOC: What do I remember about duergar-derro relations?
Initiative: 4
I seem to be lost in thought.
You would know that 500 years ago the derro lead an uprising against the deepkingdom and lost. They were brought to Gracklstugh in chains and used as slave labor. Not very long before now, the current deepking, Horgar Steelshadow V, freed the derro, making them citizens of the city, however they are still looked down on by much of the duergar population, and many of the derro now live in squalor in the East and West cleft districts of the furrow. Tensions have been rising between the two in recent years.
Griming remembers that our gnome is particularly good in finding the little things, even better with our new gift from the Stonespeaker. "hummm, Belwar, could you quickly check him out. Any idea where the incredible speed was coming from ?".
Then looking at the different solution in front of them, says "This might be a bit too much Derro, I'm happy to try the hole also ! I hope we won't find too many weird things in there ! ".
"He's wearing boots of speed," I remark, casually. I devote a small fraction of my intellect to explaining what boots of speed are, while the rest of my attention is focused on figuring out whether or not I want to risk reigniting the duergar-derro war to get us out of here safely.

OOC: Ok as an action, I would like to to continue heading for the hole, releasing his bag of Caltrops (bag of 20) on the floor between the group and the angry crowd. Trying to look impressive, Grimnir will shout "Back off derros ! Or my friend Dragonborn here will release his burning breath !"
As you pull Droki towards the hole, he gnashes his teeth, screaming for help at the top of his lungs, and struggling against his bonds. "I'm not going to make it now! Stop! No time!" he yells.
The derro with spears leap forward to attack, but rush into the caltrops dropped by Grimnir. Dexterity Saving Throws: 515191153
All but two of them fall flat on their faces, injuring themselves and giving you more time to reach the hole in the furrow. The two that manage to navigate the caltrops move to attack Grimnir and Oor who are holding the crazed Droki.
The derro seem to lack any sort of focus, flailing about madly with their weapons. The attacks miss. Several other derro are cowed by Grimnir's threat, and the menacing look that Valrish gives.
The short distraction gives you enough time to dive into the hole in the ground, Droki in hand, but still screaming bloody murder. The derro don't follow you, seemingly unwilling to go after you into the side of the furrow. You can still hear them chanting and yelling outside the entrance.
The glow of faerzress casts an eerie soft light across this cavern, swirling into spiral patterns and casting dancing shadows from the jagged pillars lining the walls. The air smells and tastes slightly metallic, and the sound around you is strangely muted. The dripping of water makes no echo, as if you stood in open air.
"Ah. Lovely," I remark. "I wonder if the Stonespeaker will be terribly upset when we ask him to cure us again."
I shrug and set about examining the faerzress.Investigation: 26
It suffuses the area, and stretches on as far as you can see into the cavern, which continues on from the entrance to the East. You have yet to encounter such a strong source of the Faezress. You surmise that the whirling stone patterns on the walls are actually results of the continued churning power of the faezress in this area.
Oorr inspects the layout of the cavern, searching for a way out.
Perception 24
The tunnel you've entered continues East into darkness. You can just make out a branching path ahead, about 30 feet, where an offshoot from the main cavern heads left and right. This is with the visible light from the entrance. Beyond that is pitch black. Water drips from stalactites nearby, forming fetid pools of water on the ground. They produce no echos in this roomy cavern.
Droki continues to struggle, yelling for his release. "We're here! We're here! Put me down down down! I have business!"
(OOG Oorr and Grimnir please make STR (Athletics) checks to hold on to the struggling Droki)
