James walks up to the front, putting himself between the two groups and looks at each of the pirates blocking their path. He raises his voice loud enough so that what he says is clear for everyone around to hear, but he doesn't yell. "Yes, a few of us have tried to make friends among the crew, in our own way. Doing that was a suggestion that I made to them, so if you want to take it out on anyone it would be me. However, I highly suggest doing so at Bloody Hour when it can be done in front of the entire crew. It would also be wise to do so, because you have less of a risk invoking the Captains ire on yourselves; one person not working from a Bloody Hour punishment is less suspicious then five or more not working from a brawl. Further more, word will reach the Captain of what happens down here and you all run the risk of your own punishments for delaying us from getting to work. Is risking the Captain's ire really worth getting into a scrap with the new boots?"
Action: Attempting to persuade the pirates to not start a brawl and walk away. Persuasion: 11

4 of the pirates (Arreta, Fips, Syl, and Tam) take a step forward, bring Arreta and Fips next to where James had stepped forward to make his speech).
The woman with the large ears snears at James, "Donch you worry none, staying out of the captain's ire is easy enough once you know what you are doing. You are just too shiny for that yet..."
She rears back, sending a haymaker right towards James's temple as the overweight man next to her sends a flabby fist into his abdomen, aiming for his liver.
Builder moves forward, deciding to head towards the stairs. He walks between two of the pirates, if there is a gap, letting them have their attack if they wish, but continuing on towards the stairs.
Ventus looks at the woman who seems to be the leader of the pirates. “So what drove you to piracy? Mommy didn’t love you, so you decided to run away? Or, perhaps the cute boy you had a crush on made fun of the ears that look more like cauliflowers stuck to the side of your head then ears, so you wanted revenge...” He then just smirks at the pirates after casting Vicious Mockery on Aretha.
Aretha needs to make a dc 12 wisdom saving throw or take 1 psychic damage and disadvantage on her next attack roll.

Attack: 5 Damage: 2

"Right then,"Birel nods, stepping around James and Varus to stand toe to toe with SSL (I can't remember that one's name) "Fight it is," and goes to punch them in the face.
Sericea sees the scuffle escalate into a full-fledged fight. She debates throwing her dagger, but it's her only weapon and she worries about hitting a friend in the crowded hold.
She gets more worried as blows fly. She's heard pirates use the phrase "knife fight in a footlocker" in Port Peril, but now she's in one! At first it seems like the walls of the hold are pressing in, but then she realizes she's feeling the force of the sea all around the ship, pressing against the hull. She feels a connection to the water, like in her dreams. Before she realizes she's doing it, moisture condenses out of the air all around her, filling the hold with a thick cloud of fog!
Sericea casts Fog Cloud targeting the bottom-right corner of F5. With a 20-ft radius, it fills the whole left side of the hold. Everyone is blinded (no AOO, no advantage or disadvantage).
Her body almost moving on its own without her noticing, Sericea drags a deep fog up out of the floorboards of the lower deck, engulfing nearly the entire rear of the deck. Everyone save Sericea and Ventus find themselves deep within the fog, struggling to see anyone or anything around them. Sericea and Ventus are right on the edge, able to see behind them and side to side, but directly infront of them is nothing but milky white.
(James has an action before the pirates go...as it is the weekend I get that finding time at a pc for pbp can be difficult. Next post will be after James or at 10AM CST Monday at the latest).

As the fog rises around them the pirates look confused for a moment.
"Wotcher? Peppery? Nah, thas not Peppery, it was that girl there. Get 'er!"
Having noticed that Sericea is the source of the fog, the large pale skinned male (Maheem) blunders toward the fog to where he last saw her and leads with his fist as he reaches the edge of the cloud. (He fights at disadvantage since you aren't in the cloud to be blinded as well)
Attack: 7 Damage: 2
"They are trying to get away! Grab 'em!"
Aretta wipes the blood from the side of her head and takes a deep breath before diving towards Varus in an attempt to restrain him.
BA: Second Wind - 6
Action: Grapple Varus (that's a bad idea) - 4(Varus, please make an opposed athletics or acrobatics check...since you are raging you get advantage if you go athletics) (Edit to add: Well there's no way that succeeds...lol).
Meanwhile, Syl attempts to take advantage of the scuffle between Varus and Aretta to sucker punch the half-elf in the kidney.
Attack: 20 Damage: 2
In the fog the pirates lose the orderly battle line they had formed and all head towards the position of the last advesary they saw. Fipps and Jape close on Builder, while Tam makes a beeline towards where he saw Ventus before the fog rose, stepping out of the fog cloud beside him and throwing a fist out of surprise.
Varus bats aside Arreta's feeble attempt to grab him with ease. Varus barely feels Syl's hit through the adrenaline pumping through his body, and he reaches out a hand to grab ahold of Arreta.
Grapple Athletics: 24
If he manages to get a firm grip, he'll move towards the stairs, dragging her along the way.
(Since she can't beat that athletics [unless she's been hiding a lot of dex] I moved both Varus and Arreta on the battle map. Varus is at half speed due to dragging another person).
Serciea sees James dash off and hears shouts and the sound of punches coming from the fog. Then she startles when Maheem appears in front of her and throws a punch. Fortunately the aim was off and misses.
Acting reflexively, Sericea lunges with her dagger.
Attack (advantage since Maheem is blinded) 24 Damage 3
Edit: was a crit, adding another d4 3 -> 6 total
Immediately after the swing, she ducks and runs following the direction James went. J4 -> I5 -> H4 -> G4 -> F3 -> E3 (I think this is valid with movement costs and won't provoke AOO due to the cloud, if not let me know)
Sent reeling by the dwarf’s punch, Ventus glares at his attacker and says “You actually succeeded at something for the first time! Congratulations! What’s it feel like to not be a complete failure in life” Ventus waits to see how his opponent reacts to the Vicious Mockery.

Varus lays his lyre against the pillar in front of him, cracking his knuckles as he moves to James's right.
