If Lafetha shares the deal to the team, they nod, "sounds fair, depending on how this goes we might turn the blob thing into food, if not... I mean I could kill them, their pretty terrible on land... And even worse if we can get them in the air some how."
They for sure cast Armor of Agathys if they haven't already. And then jump to shore, Athletics9 definitely doesn't make it but climbs up onto the shore with grace and dignity.
They approve the blob stealthily, but then seeing the blob up close immediately breaks stealth, "oooh, so whoever put this here has this thing redirect boats into the dangerous part, boat gets injured and they get to pick up the scraps from the wreck... Good work if you can get it. "
If Wilson is around, "Wilson, you think we could loop something under the hook like a rope and pull it off?Or. Maybe you just shoot the chain off with your fancy murder sticks. I'll make sure no one gets the jump on us.

Sim looks at the Lafetha, eyeballs the crocs, sighs, pulls up his hood and dives into the water and quickly swims to shore. Then moves along the river to get a closer look at the blob.
The massive blob sits in the water, about 10 feet under the water. The mud and gunk continuing to rise and fall as if it was breathing.
Along the shore is random bits of debris. A faint glint of large chain buried under the debris and gunk of the river is about knee deep into the river itself. On the other side, a narrow passage someone could attempt to sail by the blob. But jagged rocks do line along the side, creating a tricky and narrow channel that would likely rip up parts of the hull.

Morgan, looking around a bit more, does notice that the chain is rather thick. It would be a difficult bit to destroy, or at least take awhile. However, with it being mostly under the muck as well, it's impossible to entirely tell.

Sim steps out across the rocks. Taking a look along the debris and others. His foot slips, hitting the water a bit more than intended. A hand shooting out and grabbing along the chain. The breathing blob shifts. Two sets of four eyes snap open as this thing wheels around. It's coloring shifts, the blob being some kind of large fish. Too large to be originally from this river. Part of it's camoflague a set of four, 40 foot long tentacles that were laying down; splayed out. Two of the tentacles end in sharp and jagged ends. A large mouth full of rows of shark-like-teeth opens as it begins to turn.
A large chain from some old wreckage is embedded in its side; having dug deep into one of it's major fins.
Round 1 (Start)
Sim is 5 feet away from the mouth of this creature, having slipped on some rocks. Abigail and Morgan are (10 - 30 feet) away from Sim. Lafetha, Wednesday and Firmin are all on the boat 100 feet away. Wilson is (30 - 100 feet away).

"Shit." Wishing that she had brought her bow with her, Abigail draws her swords, "Well, so much for that reconnaissance mission."
Abigail readier herself at Sim's side, tapping her blades rhythmically together and psyching herself up, "Come on Sim, I know we are not on a mountain or in a forest, but there is no need to be a fish out of water. Let's make short work of this tethered tentacle-trout." ((Giving Sim Bardic Inspiration)) ((Readied Action: Attack the first tentacle/part of the fish that comes within five feet of her.))

Rollo looks out, while gripping the helm. "Does that look like a..?"
Mr. Firmin leaps down. Sprinting over to the ballista. "Yup."
"Ever seen one in the river? Or that small?
"Nope," Firmin again replies. Turning some cranks. The loud sounds of cogs and wood grinding as he begins to aim the weapon. "Old wives tales say they spawn in rivers."
"I've got too many of those already," Rollo says while looking up at Wilson. "Good shot!" He then glances out to the new crew. "Seems like they'll be more like Wilson and Morgan than the last set."

Round 1 (End)
Sim scoots back as the creature suddenly springs to life, letting loose an arrow at the beast (11). Lafetha dives into the water, swimming through the gunk as the crocodiles seem to dive underwater - not wanting to get caught up with the large 'not food'. Coming to shore, she quickly moves further towards her friends. A crack of gunfire rings out, Wilson landing a shot into the side of the creature (12). Morgan hexes the beast, before two streaks of energy fly into it's sides (14). Rollo and Firmin aim the ballista. Abigail gives Sim a bit of inspiration, while cutting at the creature (9). The beast attempts to spear Morgan, but the dart is easily evaded. A club slams into Abigail (8) before trying to pull her into it's large mouth. Another club swings at Sim, it slamming into his breastplate before rolling off with a thud.
Round 2 (Start)
The creature is still thrashing around. Much more visible this time is the large chain. Not quite a hook it's fin, but a anchor from some old wreckage clearly visible.
(To remove the Anchor: STR / Athletics DC 17. Someone can use their action to give another person advantage.)
(If swallowed, take damage at the start of your turn. Acrobatics / DEX DC 14 to escape. OR, someone can use their action to attempt a Acrobatics / DEX DC 14 to pull out the swallowed person. Otherwise, damage threshold of 20 in a round will cause it to spit you out)
