I was planning on being factionless (especially at first) but I can see Elemoth reluctantly joining The Order of the Gauntlet, with perhaps the Emerald Enclave as a backup.
It's totally fine if he's factionless (the only times you need a faction are for LE and Volo people), I was just throwing things out there :D.

He doesn't like that much risk, and if possible, wants to retire comfortably.
Because that always happens in the adventuring life...
Well in that case, I guess I'll stay factionless. As for retiring comfortably, it's more of a goal for him than something I mean for him to realize. Elemoth's a bundle of contradictions. Theoretically he wants to play it safe, but if anyone he cares for is threatened or comes into danger, he'll drop everything and emotionally rush over and try to help them out.
Ideally, he'd like to be rich and have a lot of money and savings... but when his wandering (half-elf) parents come by with financial troubles, he won't hesitate to pull out of his own savings to bail them out. He doesn't like fighting or violence... but when giant rats are storming through the larders, he'll smash their skulls in in a frenzy to prevent his fellow servants from getting bitten by diseased mouths, and he'll call upon holy fire to burn bandits trying to kidnap the children... he's all kinds of contrary.

Basically he's only human (so to speak).
Sounds great! Should be fun to roleplay!
Once Asbestos finishes with the more RP stuff I think that we'll begin. We might go with 5 people, but constant replies must be assured in order to keep the game going!
Hey I'm interested in join I can use my half elf rouge which would most likely make him factionless and there aren't that many spells in that class but then again I'm not really that experienced with spell casters so it's not like I'd be good with them
So I'll have my background later tonight, but since I was doing a cleric too, I might switch to something else? Maybe a warlock? I wouldn't want to double up on classes if it can be avoided.
"The world changed, literally opening new horizons. Somewhere, across the sea there was somewhere…new. How could any tabaxi touched by the Cat Lord’s curiosity resist? Sure it meant a long journey over trackless sea, but there’s a first time for everything. And isn’t the first time always the best? New places, new faces, new foods, new…everything. What a wonderful surprise. What a great gift! The people a tabaxi explorer meets are naturally curious about what a tabaxi is and the land from which the tabaxi came. Isn’t curiosity wonderful? Stay curious you wonderful new people! After all, no cat anywhere ever gave anyone a straight answer. "
I'm a little confused by this. Would saying that when we left the monastery, we crossed the sea to Faerun fulfill this?

I don't know about the DM, but I personally don't mind doubling up on Clerics. Multiplying Clerics tends to make the party better and flexible imo, so I'm up for it. Also, Elemoth would love to have another Cleric to hide behind even with a totally lame excuse like "He should go first because it's easy to see over him, plus, you can fire ranged weapons and spells over his head if you need to."
And if needed, I can switch to another class. You wanted to be a cleric first after all. I can also tweak my guy into a Paladin if need be.

We already have quite a large amount of people who want to play. If you want to join as an alternate, that sounds great! :D

Sounds fine, it's really just a minor thing for legal reasons.

Two of the same class is acceptable; however, I am ok with you looking at what your group is and switching up things. Another option is that if, after the first couple combats, things are not really working out, then you can rebuild/change your character.

I think you've got a good handle on your cleric and background, so I'm okay with switching to something else. Looks like we could use some ranged spell casting, so I might try my hand at a sorcerer or warlock. I'll do up another character later tonight, and see if that works.
Darkvision: Within 60 feet of you, treat dim light as bright, darkness as dim light
Hellish Reisistance: You have resistance to fire damage.
Noble Feature: Thanks to your noble birth, people are inclined to think the best of you. You are welcome in high society, and people assume you have the right to be wherever you are. The common folk make every effort to accommodate you and avoid your displeasure, and other people of high birth treat you as a member of the same social sphere. You can secure an audience with a local noble if you need to.
Bard Features:
Spellcasting
Bardic Inspiration
Personality Trait: Despite my noble birth, I do not place myself above other folk. We all have the same blood.
Ideal: Independence. I must prove that I can handle myself without the coddling of my family. (Chaotic)
Bond:I will face any challenge to win the approval of my family.
Flaw: By my words and actions, I often bring shame to my family.
Equipment: Fine Clothes, Dagger, Diplomat's Pack, Leather Armor, Rapier, Signet Ring, Viol, 25 gp
Torment comes from a noble family of Tieflings. Her parents were fine artists, and much of the rest of her family is proficient in music, language, and other fanciful things that nobles spend their time on. But she didn't have the knack for it. She learned to play instruments, of course, but her family often described listening to her play as being a torment they could not bear. She took the description to heart and her name, and struck out on her own, leaving behind the rich and catered to life she grew up with. Torment found a purpose in Waterdeep, where she helped to organize various festivals, concerts, and other important happenings. She got a taste for adventure when a guild crashed one of her conventions, fought a dracolich in the middle of the concert hall, and then rescued her from a trap set by a delirious shadow dragon. Maybe she could combine her noble upbringing, her mediocre performing skills, and a penchant for business and organization after all. The only question is, where would she adventure first?

Looks good, and I know this is probably really minor, but the Celtic pantheon isn't a thing in the Forgotten Realms, maybe changing to Waukeen?
Once that minor change has been made we shall begin!
The night was a cool one. A pleasant breeze drifted through the streets of the City of Splendors, leaving only a whisper in the wind in its wake. Nearby taverns and festhalls were alight with many a folk seeking a joyous night. Nevertheless, the Crown Jewel of the North still contained a multitude of its citizens out on the streets. Some were strolling through the metropolis, others ran with obvious purpose, and still others sat huddled on the side of the street, begging for a passerby to be kind enough to grant them even just a nib (copper piece in Waterdeep). While Waterdeep had never been directly affected by most of the recent events, they still had played a pivotal role in almost all of them, with several close calls. From the Council of Waterdeep during the Tyranny of Dragons, to the Elemental Cults in the nearby Dessarin Valley, along with the Rage of Demons that plagued the Underdark just below the Downshadow and the Undermountain, and who of course could forget the rise of the giants during the events of the Storm King's Thunder, wherein an actual Cloud Giant Castle hovered precariously over the entire city itself... Nevertheless, Waterdeep still prospered during this time, for there were no direct attacks on their outer walls, and the citizens still stayed hopeful. Now, with a new era of relative peace, all the Waterdhavians hope that now they can finally get back to their jobs without being stressed out by the newest crisis.
OOC: Obviously everything's going to be fine ;-D
On one particular street there was a bit of an odd sight. Similar sights had been seen before (and can be seen on several other streets in the City of Splendors), but this one might lead to something big... something beyond anyone else on this exact night, or on this exact street, could imagine. Five humanoids stood out amongst a crowd of commoners, receiving several "hidden" looks and glances. While they were adventurers of a sort, adventurers were a common sight in the Crown Jewel of the North, so it was more that something made them... unique. They each had different objectives, they each had different motivations, they each were alone (except for the brothers, but even they themselves were alone), and they each were destined for so, much, more.
OOC: So, character introduction time! How did you get to be strolling along the streets of Waterdeep? What does your character look like? What aura do they exude? How are they walking? Also, thoughts should be in italics, speech should be in bold. You can also color your speech and thoughts to make them stand out from standard action speech. I'm also going to send some of you a certain story-related backstory tidbit. At any rate, once you all post that introductory post then we can see what happens next...
Flame walked alongside his brother down the streets of Waterdeep. While they had been in a few cities since leaving the monastery, he never could be comfortable surrounded by alleys and shadows where any sort of urchin could be waiting to slide a dagger between your ribs and slink away with your coin purse. His light tan Tabaxi fur stood out a bit more than it normally did, somewhat blurring the dark spots covering his coat His tail was tucked tightly against his body, not moving an inch. As he walked, his yellow feline eyes darted back and forth searching every crevasse for danger. "This paranoia will leave me someday. Whether or not that is a good thing, I can't quite be sure of."
As they often did, Flame's thoughts drifted back to his days in the monastery. The Mist Walkers and Shadow were all the family he had ever known. He'd had all of that stripped away from him, but he would protect his brother with his life and more if it came down to it. As of now, The Harpers had connected him and his brother with his current compatriots. With no place to call home, the first course of action was to make some money, and what faster way than to adventure?

I was thinking of going factionless so that I have more of a fish-out-of-the-water experience.
My once per day spell would be Absorb Elements. The builder can seemingly not differentiate because I took Magic Initiate from my own class :/
