OOC: Full post incoming soon detailing the result of all of these actions. I just wanted to note that I'll probably be purchasing the master tier to allow for you guys to get access to all the books :D.
Is this guy a saint? But hey, should we set up a Discord or something for the OOC chat?
OOC: Do you want me to? I have one that can be used.
The twig creatures were not expecting to be blasted by the holy light of Lathander. However, as the sacred flame comes down, one of the twig children notices and they manage to sink back into the ground, becoming just roots. The light crashes into the ground where the child was just standing (nat 20 on DEX save).
BOOM
Another nearby explosion rocks the city, as the twig child reforms. As Elemoth bangs on his shield the twig creatures begin to stop concentrating on the blood from the dying (but not dead) guard, and towards fresh blood...
The Twigs are surprised; meanwhile, Shadow stands frozen with fear. Marion slinks over towards Elemoth after casting Mage Armor on herself. Torment finds cover, aiming to protect herself, while also inspiring her ally. Flame then drags his frozen brother towards cover from the twig children and the wizard's explosive lines.
ROUND 2:
The twig creatures rush towards Elemoth and Marion (3 and 2 respectively). Their bloodied claws glimmer with a nearby explosion of fire as they seek out new, fresher blood. As the eventually reach their respective targets they try to cut and slash into them, but their attacks slam into Elemoth's shield and Marion's spectral armor. They make a sound of frustration that sounds like branches scratching against the bark of a tree.
@Zingbob: I'd love to claim the second alternate slot if it hasn't been eliminated since you went with 5 active PCs. I always seem to be just that much too slow in seeing new games pop up here. I love the style you're using to run the he game here. Very clean. I'm familar with AL and it's restrictions, and curious to see how you integrate Roll20 for combat mapping. I'll work up a character over the next couple of days if you give me the OK. Thinking Eldritch Knight, Order of the Gauntlet. Not sure about race yet. Thanks.
"Muahahaha" That terrible laugh keeps playing over and over again in Shadow's mind. Finally he hears snaps and he is being pulled behind some cover. Flame....I don't deserve a brother like you. He snaps out his trance as the screams of the innocent wash over him. He springs into action and draws his bow. He sees that Elemoth is surrounded so he quickly fires an arrow at a twig monster.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Marion shrieks and ducks out of the way as the twig creatures attack her. A sighs escapes her when they only hit her ethereal armor. She laughs nervously. “Right, I’m young and nimble again.”
She reaches out with one hand, clenches it into a fist and murmurs an incantation.
Marion casts frostbite on twig 4 for 1d6 (4) cold damage on a failed safe.
(OOC: do I generally roll the damage beforehand?)
She then turns to Elemoth: “M… maybe we could lure them into a fireball?”

Wow, uh... thanks! I'd be happy to have you as an alternate, so yeah just make a character! I'd be happy to have you on my list for alternates.

Shadow regains his composure, but his hands still tremble. As he aims with his bow the terrible laughter still echoes in his ears as he immediately stiffens and lets the arrow fly. He let it go too soon; however, as it flies through the air and lands in the wall of a nearby collapsed building. Screaming can still be heard all around you...
"PLEASE SOMEONE SAVE US!"
"JIMMY ARE YOU THERE?"
"AHHHHHH"
It's impossible to place exactly where the voices are coming from, but it's quite obvious the city is in chaos. Marion then lets loose with an arcane incantation as the twig child she focussed on begins to slow to the pace of a slug until eventually, it stops entirely, for it is frozen solid. She then communicates to Elemoth, but no sooner does she finish that sentence when -
BOOM
A larger explosion rocks all of you. As the building that a couple of you were behind (Shadow and Flame) ignites in flame. The fireball also explodes into the streets, causing even more panic and chaos. In addition, embers go everywhere as they scorch all of you. Some of you, however, do manage to dodge out of the way of the most harmful flames.
All creatures (including the twigs) on the street must succeed on a DC 10 Dexterity save or they take 1 fire damage (or none on a success), meanwhile, the two brothers next to the building take 2 fire damage on a fail and 1 on a success.

OOC: BTW Guys, feel free to join the discord and write in the Play by Post channel (https://discord.gg/7XtpYTY). Also, anyone can post with their actions and they will be sorted out as per the initiative order. Finally, feel free to roll however much you need to. I will roll extra dice if you forget anything / did not wish to roll it in your post (for whatever reason).

Elemoth breathes heavily, trying his best to keep his shield up and in between him and the sudden swarm of foes now pressing in on him. Thankfully they stopped attacking the guard when he was able to gain their attention, but now they're all attacking him and a young woman he doesn't know that appears to have started fighting beside him.
"Lure them... into a fireball?" He replies as Marion speaks to him. "If we can find an opportunity, I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea..."
He pauses as yet another explosion goes off nearby, close enough to singe him. Wincing involuntarily at the sudden pain, he struggles to maintain focus with all the chaos around him, and finds himself regaining his concentration upon hearing some unfamiliar, but yet somehow strangely stirring Viol music. Bolstered by this unexpected bit of encouragement, he raises his mace and takes a swing at the twig creature that was also struck by the most recent fireball, seeing an opportunity to finish it off.
"FALL!" He shouts, bringing the mace in his right hand down at the creature with all his might.
Attack Roll using Bardic Inspiration (D6) 15 and 5 potential damage
OOC: Didn't try to fudge the dice roll by the way. Didn't understand that to add a D6, you have to put +1D6 into the dice roller script, not just "D6". It didn't parse properly the first time. Looks like a miss either way though, honestly.
More OOC - Edit: Now that I look at my character sheet, it looks like I didn't add a Healer's Kit. I foolishly assumed that the "Priest's Pack" I took would have it included. Is it too late to add that in and subtract the 5 gold it costs? Also, right now I am REALLY regretting not taking the one cantrip that allows you to stabilize near-dead people. I had that in there during concept stages, but took it out, figuring that it wouldn't be that useful and that there was NO WAY that the party could ever run into a situation where there would be possibly a ton of people near death that would need something like that to keep them from bleeding out, etc. It's the whole "Nothing could possibly ever go wrong." kind of attitude that gets you.
Torment darts to a nearby location, avoiding rubble and fire as another explosion goes off. We're in danger if we don't get out of here. These twig things are just distracting us! She adjusts her song, and while it's a little off key, it can be recognized as some sort of lullaby. I haven't played this one in awhile, I hope it works.
Torment casts Sleep - Level 1. I want to put it wherever it hits the most twig blights, hopefully all of them are in a 20 foot area? 29

Torment rushes over, trying to find some cover in the ruins of a shop: Cockburn's Continental Conventions. As she looks around, trying to take in the situation, it seems quite clear that all of Waterdeep is under attack. It's also unclear where the safest place, or any form of safety, is from your quick glance around. Nevertheless, she focusses back on the battle, and plays her tune as the creatures collapse to the floor, but as does Marion!
OOC: I'm ending initiative. If anyone wants to do something else, feel free to post and it will be recorded.

OOC: It's fine, you didn't even use it anyway (also don't forget you can use it after you see the roll)! As for the Healer's Kit, that's totally fine, I understand.
What do you all do? The chaos of the area is still all around you, and several bodies lie about. Some are bleeding out and dying, whereas others are crispy and charred...
As Flame pulls Shadow back to lucidity, he takes in his surroundings. There is fire everywhere, with the screams of men, women, and children alike coming from all around. Suddenly the building he is standing next to explodes and throws embers all over him. All he can hear is ringing. He looks down, notices burning fur, and quickly slaps the embers out. His hearing slowly fades back in. The groans of the dying are all around him. He doesn't know much about healing, but the least he can do is try. He runs to a nearby guard that is lying on the ground, blood pouring from a wound. He rips a piece of his shirt off and presses it against the wound. Flame locks eyes with the guard that seems to be fading from life. "I need a healer over here! Quickly!"
Shadow's hands are still trembling as he loosed a pathetic excuse of a shot. The building next to him erupts into flames and explodes. But he is still too stunned to react. The embers that coated his body are enough to snap him out of his trance completely. He quickly puts out burning patches of fur as he sees his brother take off and starts helping the injured. Shadow decides to follow his lead. He spots someone stuck under some rubble so he sprints over there and starts to unbury the person. Why? Who would be so cruel to attack all these innocent people? Tears begin to fall from Shadow's eyes as the cruelty of it all overwhelms him, but he keeps on digging with all of his strength.

As he sees all the twig-creatures suddenly fall asleep along with Marion, Elemoth supresses a gasp of surprise. Seeing that he now has an opportunity to tend to the bleeding guard (who already seems to have a cat-like man attending to him, and calling for aid) he slowly takes a step back from the twigs and chants a healing spell as quietly as he can, reaching out with his shield-hand to direct the magic towards the guard.
(Cast Healing Word6 on Guard)
Afterwards, he gingerly reaches out with his foot to prod Marion to try and wake her up. The twigs are asleep for now, but if we don't find a way to deal with them before they wake up, the people will be in danger again...He thinks to himself, taking a moment to sweep the scene with his eyes and ears to try and figure out what he should do next. Helping the wounded is what he wants to do most, but if the Twig-men aren't finished off, they could wake up and start hurting and killing even more.

"Bwuh-huh?" Marion groggily wipes a bit of drool from her mouth and stands up. “Thanks,” she mumbles under her breath and blushes. "Great Showing."
At least the twig minions seemed to have been affected by what must have been a Sleep spell, too. She quickly grabs the dagger from her belt and tries to slice the nearest twig creature’s “head” off.

Torment runs out to the sleeping twigs, taking her viol in her right hand, and drawing her rapier with the left. She stabs the nearest sleeping twig blight through the area that might contain a heart.

She then casts here eyes about and sends a healing word to someone who looks the most grievously injured. 4

Shadow finishes pulling the person from the rubble and looks around to see people slaying some twig monsters. Shadow's eyes narrow, he draws his sword and sprints toward the sleeping twig monsters. He does a twist flip and stabs the monster with all of his might.
Flame rushes over to the dying guard, as he creates the tourniquet the bleeding begins to subside as the guard's pulse stabilizes... he has been saved (for now). Nearby Shadow begins to rummage through the rubble, seeking to unearth a crushed citizen.
BOOM
Another fireball explodes a building on the street over. Meanwhile, Elemoth casts a healing spell on the dying guard as he begins hacking in Flame's arms. He looks stunned and turns to all of you and stutters in a strangely robotic voice: "Tha-tha-thank you. I-I-I don't kn-know what was going to ha-happen to me... Y-You all saved me. I-I won't forget this." He then slowly rises to his feet, with his cuts and injuries healed, he begins to walk and then run towards the screaming citizens, helping to guide them in a bit more of a... controlled manner (or as controlled as everyone can be in this situation). Meanwhile, everyone else begins to chop the "heads" off of the blood-drinking twig monsters, ensuring they will never rouse from their slumber.
"WHAT IS GOING ON?"
"TYMORA WHERE ARE YOU?!"
"THIS WORLD IS OVER, ON TO THE NEX-" (cut short by a fireball somewhere off in the distance)
Amid more screaming and chaos Shadow manages to finish rescuing a small human girl, but she has paint all over her body in ritualistic patterns. As she looks at her savior she simply speaks: "Tex tacta." Before running off down the street towards a segment of the block that has managed to remain fine all throughout the siege (there are some of these locations in the city, but everyone knows it's just a matter of time before something dreadful happens to them so they're simply fleeing) and vanishes into one of the houses/taverns/shops, you can't really tell since your gaze immediately changes to a shout (not a scream).
"FOR BAHAMUT!" Shouts a Silver Dragonborn dressed in shimmering silver platemail wielding a master-crafted warhammer and an illustrious shield. He barrels vthrough a nearby alleyway and runs up the streets towards the mass of flying mages.
"Does he have to shout that every time we fight someone?" Asks a small gnome with several amulets and talismans adorning his wizardly robes. He seems to ask this in a muffled tone as if he doesn't want the dragonborn to hear.
"You know how he is about him, always: 'What would Bahamut do?' Well, why don't you grow a little self-confidence and wonder what you should do!" Answers a half-orc dressed in a simple leather vest and leather pants; however, in her hands, she holds a massive axe with sharp serrated edges that seem to be made out of giant shark teeth. "Now Presto, it's flying time..."
"You know that's not actually my... Bah, finite incantatum aviar!" The gnome says as he and the half-orc begin to fly through the air heading towards the mages. Meanwhile, the dragonborn has climbed up onto one of the still standing houses and is hurling javelins at one of the mages while dodging bolts of lightning and rays of fire. All around the town it is a similar scene, the powerful adventures who call Waterdeep their home have rose (literally) to defend it. There are aerial battles, rooftop battles, all around the mages are beginning to be brought down. This is it! The strength of Waterdeep! The attack is finally ov
RRRRRROOOOOOAAAAARRRRRR
Soaring in from who knows where, a black dragon takes to the sky and begins to fly all around town roaring and sending the city into even more chaos. All of the adventurers (BTW there are like 50-60 or so) who thought they had the attack under control realize that they now have to contend with a plethora of mages and a dragon! But then... it breathes, a line of acid shoots out of the dragon's mouth as buildings that were once stable begin to melt and collapse, and you hear shouts nearby from that section of six or so buildings that were still standing just down the street. There are still people inside! The building is falling and the townsfolk stuck up inside are too frightened (because there's acid all around them obviously) to get down, but if they don't... it's likely that the fall will kill them. Meanwhile, the dragon flies off, destroying even more parts of town.
10 people are inside, the building seems like it will fall in 12 seconds... What do you do?
Marion runs towards the building and casts Minor Illusion. She creates an annoyingly loud, high pitched and off key sound in the building in order to urge the people out of it.
Torment utters an incantation and attempts to open a window or door near where the people are trapped, then begins yelling for the people to quickly jump down, away from the noise. (Thaumaturgy)

DM of Tomb of Annihilation (and more) Group 2 and Group 3
Marion runs towards the building and casts Minor Illusion. She creates an annoyingly loud, high pitched and off key sound in the building in order to urge the people out of it.
"Come on, get out of there!"
Torment utters an incantation and attempts to open a window or door near where the people are trapped, then begins yelling for the people to quickly jump down, away from the noise. (Thaumaturgy)
