When the blast occurred, panic could be read on all of the villagers faces. Immediately humans and orcs were pushing and running.
You dash down a dirt road, and cut through a field, taking a b-line for the smoke. You skirt the edge of a densely wooded area.
As you approach the north west edge of the village, you see several townsfolk standing in the street, looking toward the source of the ominous blast. "It's Tsendur's home!" you hear someone say. As Tsendur’s property comes into view, the severity of the destruction is clear. The single floor, wooden cottage, is on fire. The three story wooden tower attached to the east end of the cottage is also on fire and is missing most of its southern wall. A bucket lies on its side about 10 feet in front of the door. While the structure is largely intact, the fire is quickly spreading. There seems to be quite a bit of commotion, and the bucket brigade has stopped. “Something just grabbed him! It grabbed Jasper!” yells one of the villagers. He’s clearly quite distraught.
Following the smoke and villagers to this Tsendur’s home Balos couldn't help but think, "What in the nine hells?" He'd only been in the quiet town a week and was just about to move on. As much as he felt bad for the hermit and his home he was thanking the gods for some action. Then with Balos hearing the distraught cry for help he acts on instinct and runs over to the villager. Hearing that someone was taken, Balos looks and listens around for any sign of struggle or hostile perpetrators.

Bilick rushes towards the smoke, feeling conflicted. He had only been in town for two days -- and that was more than enough. This village was less than a day's journey from his own , long abandoned hometown and he spent all of his time nervous that he would run into some one who had known him from before. Bilick had grown to be nervous in crowds since all those decades ago in the Bridged City, and here he was, rushing into the crowd.
Hearing one of the villagers calling out about someone named Jasper, he will push through the crowd and grab the villager.
"What are ye on aboot, lad? What grabbed yer man, Jasper? Where did they go?"He shouts at the villager urgently, trying to shake sense into him and get some answers.
Unsure of his place in all this, Kendrick lopes along with the others at a steady pace, his longspear normally used as a walking staff clutched in his dominant hand as he moves towards the disturbance. Kendrick's closely cropped black hair and deeply tanned skin speaks of a lifetime in the sun and at sea, and his steady stride towards the danger gives an indication of a warrior's training. Pleased to see a bucket brigade formed, Kendrick is disturbed that it appears to have stopped working, as the last few places in the brigade are left unfilled. Leaving the talking to the others, he grabs the nearest full bucket out of the hands of a distracted townsfolk and runs into the building, planning to do his part dousing the fire--and if there is a creature grabbing townsfolk, he can deal with that too.

"Inside the house... Jasper was trying to put out the fire, and it grabbed him." Says the villager. "It look looked gruesome. Bits of bone showing... moving like it's leg wasn't right." There seems to be some shadowy figures inside of the burning building.
Kendrick nods at the villager and heads into the burning house with the full bucket of water in one hand and the spear in the other, barely pausing to hear the description of the creature the villager was trying to describe. He knows better than to plunge in before looking, though, so he takes a second to look into the building before heading right in.
Perception: 9
Edit: Just saw the map...Kendrick will move to J12. If he sees a monster like the villager described, he will continue moving to engage, rage, and attack. If not, and he sees Jasper, he will try to pull Jasper out of the burning building. If neither happens, he will continue to move in and throw water on the fire, then go out for another bucket.
(Note, he has no idea of the intentions of any of the other party members--as far as he knows, everyone else is just timid villagers until they start acting heroic.)
Hearing some talk of a gruesome creature Balos readies his shortswords and trots up to the door. Leaning his back against the outside wall Balos looks to the human with the longspear, then over his own shoulder deeper into the door. "I'll be right behind ya mate." Says the tall brunette half orc with focus and determination set in his blue eyes.
The main door is on your left, and a crumbling tower is to your your right. The lower wall of the tower has been destroyed, and parts of furniture lay strewn about burning on the lawn.
(Kendrick, do you want to put the fire out on the outside of the building, go in the door, or go in through the gaping hole?)
(Edit: The villager pointed to the gaping hole when asked where Jasper went)
Kendrick nods at the half-orc, happy for some backup. Since the door is shut, he reasons that anything that just grabbed a townsfolk likely came from that big hole. He moves directly in through the hole and takes action (in priority as described previously). Suddenly, a random thought crosses his mind as he moves in..."How did he know I was first mate on the ship?"
Osso gets to the tower, or what's left, just in time to see a hulking half orc and a similarly sized man enter the side of the tower. Seeing the two figures enter the building it seems the fire is in need of attention. Osso heads to the villager handing out buckets. "I help fire" he grunts as he thrusts out his hand.

Zan's ears perked up at the talk of monsters.
"Bits of bone showing... moving like it's leg wasn't right."
Probably some foul undead creature he thought.
Amid the chaos, carefully considering his options, Zan decided to check for any tracks leading to the building. Maybe he could learn something about the creature inside.
Watching the figures enter the large gaping hole that emerged in the side of the tower, and another rough-looking dwarf grabbing a bucket, Bilick hesitates for a moment.
Fine, he thinks, I'll help put this conflagration out then I'll be on me way, and give those big men a chance to save whoever's inside.
He joins Osso near the villager, "Howyadoing, fella?" he growls in Dwarvish adding "Watch yerself lad, there be some kinda beastie inside the building."
Grabbing a bucket and thinking how much easier this would have been if he prepared one his water spells, Bilick will rush as fast as his little stubby dwarf legs will carry him towards the flames closer to the hole where Balos and Kendrick are about to enter.
"I'll be making a path for yew boys." he yells to the two of them.
Tella moves to M13 and casts Ray of Frost on the nearest fire. The pureblood has dark purple hair reaching down to the top of her waist, her clothes are a set of traveler's clothes, wearing a long-sleeved white shirt and lavender colored skirt. She's paler than most yuan-ti, yet her hazelnut colored eyes reveal what she is.

Kendrick 14HP Rage=+2 to damage - enter building and attacks Zombie 1 attack:13 vs AC 8 damage if hit 11
Balos 12HP - enters and attacks Zombie 1 attack:7 vs AC 8 damage if hit 7
Osso 14HP - helping put the fire out
Zan 9HP - Looking for tracks
Bilick 11HP- helping put out fire
Tella 7-1=6HP- Moves to M13 and cast Ray of Frost
Smoke fills the room. Three zombies fall down the stairs on the far side of the tower creating a storm of embers. They seem to glow like iron hot from a smith's forge.
When Tella casts her Ray of Frost she feels a pang of pain. (taking 1 psychic damage) There is something amiss with magic that seems to have started about the time of the explosion.
Zan examines the ground, (and rolled a 20!) and finds that seven creatures recently entered the building, but only one exited.
Zombie 1 22 HP Prone (stumbling over each other, but getting up.)
Zombie 2 18 HP Prone (stumbling over each other, but getting up.)
Zombie 3 15 HP Prone (stumbling over each other, but getting up.)

Balos finds out first hand that the glow from the zombies is indeed heat. These are Scorch Zombies. Balos takes 1 fire damage. Kendrick is lucky that his pike can reach 10 feet.

Balos will attack Zombie 1 then move up to attack Zombie 2 with his offhand.
Hearing the sounds of battle from within the building, Osso tosses the bucket towards the villager he got it from. "Now I help inside" With that he Dashes around his new found dwarven friend and into the building (assuming he has enough movement) "Come, kill bad guys" can be heard as he enters the battle.

seven creatures recently entered the building, but only one exited Zan thought to himself. Not entirely sure what to make of the information. Perhaps there were 6 inside, but where had the 7th gone...
Zan looks up and sees a purple haired Yuan-Ti attempt to cast a spell but something unseen seem to prevent her. He makes his way diagonally, shortbow drawn and at the ready, towards the newly formed entrance of the tower. He positions himself just in front, and slightly to the left, of the Yuan-Ti. (L12)
Three zombies are now visible. Zan sees a Half-Orc attack one and then move on to attack the next.
It's getting up and distracted with the Half-Orc. An opportune time for a quick arrow. Zan thinks as looses the arrow from his bow.
((Advantage + Sneak Attack (friendly player within 5ft) extra 1d6 damage on a successful hit on Zombie 2))
Attack: 16 Damage: 12
Zan then shouts out to the assembled combatants:
"I have counted the tracks of seven, only one has left. Take caution, strangers!"
Seeing the foul undead beasts spill out in front of him, Kendrick stabs powerfully at the creatures, keeping a bit of distance away from their fiery bodies if possible.
(Not sure when Kendrick goes in the initiative versus the others, so I will abstract his turn a bit). Kendrick stabs at the most wounded zombie, using a Great Weapon Master strike if it is still prone or he otherwise has advantage to attack it (so either +5 / 1d10+5 or +0 adv / 1d10+15). If that reduces a zombie to zero hp or is a critical, he will use his bonus action to repeat the attack against the next most wounded zombie.
