I am new to dnd and I'm busy building my first character for my first campaign. The sheet is done but there is something that troubles me.
I focused my stats into certain ability scores, but dumping strength. They have a strength of 8 with a (-1) modifier.
My worry is this: Does this mean that with every level up, my character will loose 1 strength until they hit 0 by level 9? I feel like this isn't true since it would mean 0 carrying capacity by that level which would be silly, but I'm not sure on the actual mechanic of it. There is a pc of a member in my team who has a wizard also with a (-1) modifier and they are a regular dnder, so it doesn't seem like it's an issue to me.
So my thing is that I don't want my character to be slowed by a reducing carrying capacity, and also because I later plan to don the heavy armor proficiency through multicalssing which would make it worse.
My guess is that negative ability scores simply don't affect your stats when you level up, but I don't know. Even so, my carrying capacity will be low and with heavy armor I'm at high risk of being slowed in my walking speed.
Will I have to swap one of my chosen stats for strength in order to fix this or am I missing something in the mechanics?
Post this in Tips & Tactics, or Rules & Game Mechanics please. You already posted a thread in here yesterday asking a similar question. This is for actual games and recruitment.
Not sure if you can delete a thread, so you might have to repost it.
The question is still about rules and game mechanics, so doesn’t belong in this part of the forum, regardless of whether your asking about attacks, carrying capacity, or anything else.

Oh okay. Am I able to move my thread or do I have to re post it?
Also the other question was about multiple attacks where this one is about carrying capacity, so it's not similar to the first.

Apologies for my confusion. Thank you.
