Silent, you swing your greatsword in a horizontal arc, and hit the groove exactly. The shell cracks in two, and your sword continues through and chops the crab into two pieces in a single blow. Crab 2 is dead, and Pockets is instantly released from the grapple.
OOC: There is one way to use an attack to end someone else's grapple, and you just found it! :)
Nearer to the ship, you see the sahuagin lash out against the sailors, with teeth and spear. The first attacks Sailor 2:
Attack: 12 Damage: 4 Attack: 19 Damage: 6
The bite misses (disadvantage rolled below), but the sailor screams as the spear skewers him.
The other sahuagin attacks Sailor 4:
Attack: 13 Damage: 5 Attack: 8 Damage: 7
(Oops - first attack from Sahuagin 2 had disadvantage from Frostbite, so the other roll is 9)
The first attack from Sahuagin 1 hits, the second misses.
The boy backs away a little, still clearly terrified, but also determined to do what he can. He takes aim, and once again the shimmer of radiant light surrounds the second sahuagin. DEX save: 18
First group: Eldon, Arael and Keyo, in any order. Second group: Crabs 1, 3 and 4 (Crab 2 is dead) Third group: Sailors, several of whom are wounded. Fourth group: Silent Fifth group: Sahuagin Sixth group: Boy
Off to the side, you see the Blue Torrent is sinking fast, and several of the crew, who even Pockets had barely spent any time with, are being dragged down below the ocean by sahuagin. The sailors of this ship see the others' fates, and fight even harder to save themselves.
(OOC: on mobile, didn’t realize a die roll was at top of text box. Is there a way to bring it back? I’m ok with taking the two lowest rolls)
No, sorry, it means all the rolls in the post are unreliable now - sometimes they change each time you refresh. In any case, whenever you get this message, make a new post with the corrected dice rolls please.
Pockets, your crossbow flies over the crab, but seems to draw its attention for a moment - it's hard to tell. But whatever it is, it distracts the crab just long enough for Arael's first dagger to clatter harmlessly against its shell, but the second to plunge deep through the crack and into the flesh beneath. It's too much for the creature - it falter, then slumps, and doesn't move. Crab 4 is dead.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Opportunity Attack from Crab 1: Attack: 13 Damage: 5
The claw reaches towards Keyo but snaps closed on thin air as the elf dodges and darts away.
Keyo, your tiny mote of fire hits the crab, scorching the shell but not doing much damage.
The crabs are next. Crabs 2 and 4 are dead.
Crab 1 chases down Keyo, and makes another attempt at a grab:
Attack: 23 Damage: 7
It's a nearer miss this time. Much nearer. The claw grazes your arm as you pull it out of the way - it does no damage, but once again the crab is next to you.
Crab 3 stabs its free claw at sailor 1:
Attack: 12 Damage: 6
The young sailor looks panicked, still held fast and close to death.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Silent nods at Pockets and, carried by the momentum of his strike against the crab, he runs towards Sahuagin 1 and aims a vertical slice along the length of its spine.
Since Sailor 2 is flanking the sahuagin I'm going to roll the greatsword attack with advantage.
Both attacks hit. Sailor 4 takes the bite, Sailor 3 takes the spear through his thigh. They're both looking weakened, but resolute. Kill them, one sailor shouts at Silent. We need to get out of here!
The boy nods in agreement, and casts his spell again, on Sahuagin 1 this time.
Sahuagin's DEX save: 12
Radiant light surrounds the creature and burns it for 1 damage.

Arael resheathes her daggers with a twirl of her fingers and runs fifteen feet towards the water.
She stares down the attackers and casts Magic Missile at Sahuangin 1 (if he's still alive after Pockets's attack, otherwise Crab 1), Sahuagin 2 and Crab 3.
Pockets rushes east, almost to one of the small piers that juts out into the ocean, but stops, lines up his crossbow and shoots - and misses, as the sahuagin spins in its attack on the sailors.
The three Magic Missiles spring forth from Arael's hands. The first dart staggers Sahuagin 1, but cannot quite bring him down. The second dart explodes as it hits Sahuagin 2, in a pulse of magic light; he also staggers, then falls to the ground. Sahuagin 2 is dead. The third dart impacts on its crab target, but it doesn't seem deterred.

Thank you, Mister...sorry, Silent. Pockets reloads his crossbow and takes aim at Crab 4. After firing he puts himself ten feet behind silent.
Attack - Attack: 23 Damage: 7
Arael dagger, daggers Crab 4
Attack: 13 Damage: 3
Attack: 8 Damage: 3
(OOC: thanks for the patience and mulligan y’all)

Keyo is up.
Keyo will leap back from the crab in front of him. Moving 10ft up. (Provoking an attack from the crab)
"We must break through and help the sailors escape!"
Keyo then holds out his hand once more and sends another Fire Bolt at Crab 1
Attack: 20 Damage: 2
Opportunity Attack from Crab 1: Attack: 13 Damage: 5
The claw reaches towards Keyo but snaps closed on thin air as the elf dodges and darts away.

Crab 3 stabs its free claw at sailor 1:
Attack: 12 Damage: 6
The young sailor looks panicked, still held fast and close to death.
Sailors are up next.
Sailor 2 attempts to kill the crab that is grappling his friend:
Attack: 22 Damage: 5
He hits, but most of the damage is deflected by the shell.
Sailor 1 also tries to strike at his tormentor:
Attack: 11 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
but his fear is getting the better of him, and he almost drops his weapon.
Sailors 3 and 4 continue their attack on the sahuagin between them:
Attack: 11 Damage: 5
Attack: 19 Damage: 5
The sahuagin warrior takes two slices across front and back, but he's a formidable foe and not down yet.
Silent is up.
Silent nods at Pockets and, carried by the momentum of his strike against the crab, he runs towards Sahuagin 1 and aims a vertical slice along the length of its spine.
Since Sailor 2 is flanking the sahuagin I'm going to roll the greatsword attack with advantage.
Attack: 23 Damage: 12
(OOC: That's Sahuagin 2. I don't know why I didn't number them from left to right. I've got mixed up over that already.)
That's a nasty slice across the creature's back. It's still up, but losing blood fast.
Sahuagin 2 turns, and snarls something in a language you don't understand (anyone speak Sahuagin?). It directs its anger at you, the new attacker:
Bite: Attack: 18 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
Spear: Attack: 7 Damage: 5
The teeth rake against your exposed arm, gouging through the flesh and probably leaving a nice scar. The spear misses.
Sahuagin 1 is trying to take down the two sailors surrounding it:
Bite: Attack: 12 Damage: 5
Spear: Attack: 20 Damage: 4
Both attacks hit. Sailor 4 takes the bite, Sailor 3 takes the spear through his thigh. They're both looking weakened, but resolute. Kill them, one sailor shouts at Silent. We need to get out of here!

Third group: Sailors, several of whom are wounded.
Fourth group: Silent
Fifth group: Sahuagin, both of whom are wounded.
Sixth group: Boy
Eldon, Arael and Keyo are up.
Pockets moves quickly to line himself up with Sahuagin 1, reloads his crossbow and fires at it. Please die!
Attack: 8 Damage: 5
Arael resheathes her daggers with a twirl of her fingers and runs fifteen feet towards the water.
She stares down the attackers and casts Magic Missile at Sahuangin 1 (if he's still alive after Pockets's attack, otherwise Crab 1), Sahuagin 2 and Crab 3.

3rd dart: 2

The third dart impacts on its crab target, but it doesn't seem deterred.
Keyo is up.
Keyo flips the dagger out from his belt and slashes at crab 1.
Attack: 20 Damage: 6
Keyo then moves 5ft to the right to put himself between the crab and the boy.
"Run child, get to safety!"
Keyo, the dagger catches on a part of the crab's shell and is almost wrenched out of your hand.
The two remaining crabs are next. Crab 1 really wants to grab tightly to this annoying elf that keeps eluding him:
Attack: 20 Damage: 4
Snap! Another pincer closes on thin air, as Keyo dodges skillfully.
Crab 3, still holding Sailor 1 with one claw, grabs with the other:
Attack: 13 Damage: 2
and he rips the man's throat out. Sailor 1 is dead.
