Zylar breathes a sigh of relief. "He'll live, though the boy is lucky to be alive. I cannot say for certain what happened, but perhaps we can learn more by exploring the immediate area."
Zylar turns to the old man. "Good sir, would you happen to know of any dangers that might be lurking on the trail beyond here? And more importantly, would you be willing to take the boy to the next town so he can receive proper healing?"
The old man replies:"i could bring him with us yes. I heard bandits and wild beast attacked a few coaches near the forest near the next village but... Aside from that i think the farms near the hills, following these trails, have had some weird problems lately. Something to do with bad crops or something.
The boy now semi conscious whispers:"Sister... Ritual... Father..." hes breathing heavily. Clearly speaking is very hard for him at the moment. He tries to stand up repeating the words and points to the trail where the blood trace is. He is unable to stand and you fear his wound would reopen.

"Sit down," Reshi barks, "you'll reopen your wounds playing the matyr like that, and that doesn't help any of us. Now, what ritual are you talking about? Your father is performing some ritual on your sister, is that it?"
Sun, who has ben curled up and sleeping for the last hour or so of traveling, hears what's going on outside, jumps to his feet and runs out to the others.
"Bandits?! A monster?! Let's go find whoever did this, right away! I've been longing for exciting adventure ever since we got on this road. I even dreamt about fighting a large group of pirates just now. I know it probably won't be pirates, but I'm still very much excited about this! Which way did they go?"
Sun starts skimming the ground around them to look for tracks or other signs as to where these unknown assailants may have wandered off to.

Zylar looks over toward the trail. "I have many questions about the current situation, though I fear the answers will not be found by simply standing around here and waiting for them. The nearby trail will likely lead us to the lad's attackers, if not the site of this ritual that is supposedly taking place."
Zylar heads to the edge of the trail, steeling himself for the dangers that lie ahead.
At that moment, a young girl arrived on the scene. Her name was Gwen Noire. She was a human who seemed to be a cleric of some sort. During the journey beforehand, this human would have politely nodded at Sun's excited speeches, silently praying for him to go away. Awkward, shy, and quiet, Gwen Noire was not great with people and could be a pushover of sorts, though she was excellent at ranged combat and wielding the powers gifted to her by her god.
Gwen nervously peeked around those who were still crowding around the bleeding boy. "A-ah!" She was startled at his injuries. "I... I think I can help, if... i-if only a bit..."

Gwen realises that Zylar made a good job on analysing the kids wounds. But if nothing is done this kid could reopen his wounds and die later. As such, she gets to the kid and extend her hands. Speaking a prayer to her deity and then, with a flash of divine light, some of the wounds closes up.
The kid breaths less heavily and a smile of relief appears. He sits back down against the tree as he was told. Takes a deep breath as his condition is suddently much better.
Kid:"Thank you strangers!"
*taking another breath*
Kid:"My name is Basil... Basil Artwood."
Looking at each and everyone of you. He says "you are all adventurers too right! I started my journey with my sister two moons ago. Didn't end up too well for us. I couldn't protect her ! And now i fear i plagued our land because of it."
Basil silently sheds tears, but wipes them off. I brought my sisters corpse back to the house... My father never liked the idea of bringing her with me on my journey. He was right... She was too naive and so was i to think i was old enough to do it.
The day after i brought her back here... A plague started killing the crops of our field. Then it spreaded to the other farmstead. I have to burn the corpse, but my father refused to listen to me. My father, Wolfe Artwood, said he found a way to bring her back. We fought. Hes the one who did this to me."
Basil picks a pouch from below his armor and extend it toward your group.
Basil:"This is all i got from adventuring including the golden necklace of my sister Holly. Please... Stop my father before he goes too far. I think hes making some kind of ritual for her. Please... Stop him and put my sister to her rest."

Sun jumps over to Basil and gets down on his knees in front of him. With his own hands he folds the hands of Basil around the necklace and looks him in the eyes: "Oh no, no no, we can't take this. This was your sisters, and you should keep it to remember her always. It's very important to always carry something with you, to remember those you miss or have lost."
He does, however, accept the adventuring-gold (if that's what it is) and hands it up to Reshi: "Maybe you'll keep this safe? You're like from a very important noble house or something, right? You're good with money?"
He looks back to Basil again: "You're father did this? And he took your dead sister? Which way did he go? How can we find him?"
"Yes," Reshi adds condescendingly, stowing the gold. "I am from LIKE a wealthy house. The House of Al'Miir: once the weathiest elven house that ever existed."
Reshi puffs his chest, twisting the ring on his finger as he zones out.
At first sight the neckless is worth about 25 gold or so. It is an intricately well made necklace. Something usually made as a gift for marriage. The small locket at the bottom seems like those necklaces where you can put something in it. It has the shape of a wing.
The pouch has a good weight to it. It feels like it has half a hundred coins in it.

"He's right, you know; the tabaxi," Reshi twists the ring on his finger and chews his bottom lip. "Family is important. I have a sister. We grew up together in Al'Miir Manor; but a few years ago my parents were murdered by a gang of thugs that call themselves the Jackanapes. My sister, Kai, she, uh..."
Reshi chokes and takes a moment."She went on to marry Kaemish Val'Thor: the leader of those bastard Jackanapes." Reshi kicks a nearby rock, manages to stub his toe and fall to the ground; clutching his throbbing toe, he whimpers: "She said she was happy to marry that monster, but I know why she did it. She did it so that an Al'Miir was still inside Al'Miir Manor. She has two children with that animal; two half beasts that are a constant reminder of my failure."
"I don't mean that." Reshi sighs, massaging his foot. "Nothing is more important than family. Much like you, I may never see another member of my family again. That's why I carry my father's sigil ring: as a constant reminder of who my family were."
Reshi stands, shakes the emotion from head and folds his arms. "So, what exactly is waiting down there for us?"
"Woaw, Resh... That's intense, friend. So sorry that happened to you and your family. But it really seems like you need to talk to someone about this, so just let me know. You know? I'm here for you." Sun goes in for a hug.

Zylar stands at the edge of the trail, absorbing every detail of the conversation as it unfolds. "Fascinating. Horrifying and tragic, yet fascinating nonetheless."
"T-t... thank goodness," Gwen breathed a sigh of relief to see the boy become well. She couldn't bear to see such an innocent youth suffer. She listened to his story, but when he tried to offer her any gold or the necklace, she quietly whispered, "N-no, thank you... t-this w-was all in service to my g-god..." Gwen looked at the ground nervously and whispered the god's name under her breath, "Tyr."
Gwen watched the scene with the other characters unfold as she thought. There was no way she could ignore Basil's story. Gwen tried to steady her voice despite the feelings of awkwardness she experienced. "Where can I meet you once I have spoken sense into your father?"

"So, Basil, you will wait in the coach for us and we shall set off after your father," says Reshi with newfound investment in Basil's family problems. "We'll deal with him. It'll be okay."
He pats the boy on the shoulder; an awkward encounter that he instantly regrets. He then looks to the others.
"O-Oh... that makes sense..." Gwen nodded at Reshi's suggestion that Basil stayed in the coach. She wasn't sure if he referenced her in his question of 'Shall we get started?' but she nodded anyway. While she had no presence, she was not useless. Gwen may be weak, but Tyr granted her the strength to continue. Perhaps this was an opportunity for her to prove herself to him.
