(So I just want to check I'm reading that distancing correct. The 45ft distance is for the left-to-right sides of the map, and it's about 30ft for top-to-bottom?)
Onyx cautiously steps toward the doorway, making sure to stay a good ten feet behind Arbon. He keeps his eyes open for any creatures inside, or for anything that seems a threat.
The evil little creature squelchs and excretes on top the tattered sheets and heavily gnawed meat as it skulks towards the hunter unfazed by the light or the torch. As you all see the tiny monster crawl off the disgusting mound, Grahl moved within striking distance of it. (Grahl AoO on the Demon when combat starts, before anything else)
As Grahl rushes into the room glancing around quickly to see what is going on and out of the corner of his eye sees the creature crawling off the mound near him. Having his axe horizontally in front of him in a defensive hold he simply reacts to the movement tilting the blade of the axe slightly downward on his right side. He then takes a quick step forward while swinging the blade up by moving his right hand up in an arch stretching it in front of him while pulling his left hand back causing the axeblade to move from near the ground upward into the creatures stomach/body area.
Arbon's well informed mind discerns that this is a demon, not a devil, and that it is of medium size. There is not much more to tell.
Marchosias thinks otherwise...
From your surroundings you can determine specifics about both your environment and the creature itself. First, you can tell that this place has more than just an infestation of demons within it. The type of rot, and the growing flesh like substance all about the place gives you a sense that something is pulling the Abyss to this place in a way much more stable than a simple summoning portal. In your readings, you have come across artifacts that are said to corrupt areas in this way, but the specific artifact's name or type is unknown to you at this time.
You can tell that the Maw Demon is a little bit BIGGER 35 than the average bugger, but not any stronger. Well trained in the ways of demonic knowledge, you are aware of every detail available about it.
Grahl's axe slams into the creatures open maw that closes around it as it digs into the flesh and it bites the metal trying to rip it free from his hand. He is too strong, however, and kicks it to the back wall where it resumes its trek to the hunter.
(Demon takes 15 damage, and is in the same location as before the AoO because of the shove)
After Grahls initial attack he gets some time to look at the creature seeing a disturbing image but having heard the hunter still lives his anger does not build further. Specially after pulling the axe free Grahls sees this pitifull creature as weak and mostly weird.
Pulling his axe free force of the pull swings the axe back as Grahl only holds it with his right hand now. The axeblade arches over the ground to his right, the sound of the metal scraping across the floor can clearly be heard only to be surpassed by Grahls growl as he pulls the axe back towards him as he moves forward. Grrraahhh, want taste axe?
Raising the axe above himself judging the distance and lunging forward with his left leg as he grips the axe above him with both hands. Then brings down the axe as Grahl bends forward following the movement of the lunging step putting his strenght into the blow trying to cleave the creature by aiming to land the axe within its jaw so the creature can taste his axe once more.
Peeking into the doorway, Onyx finally spotted the creature in the torch light. He wracked his mind for anything he may have read about such a hideous thing.
(( Arcana Check w/ Advantage: 17 ))
Regardless, after seeing Grahl attack it, Onyx was certain that it was the threat here. The warlock unleashed his magic: a dart composed of pure force energy, deep purple in color, silently shot out from his right hand toward the creature, leaving behind a trail of glowing, softly falling white motes.
Upon striking the creature with a squelching sound, there was an immediate follow-up from a small, sharp BOOM! as his patron added thunder energy to the attack.
Marchosias growls as he recognizes the nature of the demon. There were some unfortunate implications from its presence. Leaning around the frame of the doorway, he takes a single shot with his crossbow.
Attack: 11 Damage: 8
"In case you couldn't guess, you really don't want that thing to bite you. Don't bother with the classic elements either. Best to just use steel."

Marchosias fired his bow quickly at the creature but it leaped off the bed in time for him to miss. Grahl was able to capitalize on its movement, however, and slammed it with a swing left it towards the hunter and leaving a deep gouge in the side of its chest cavity. (demon takes 9 damage)
From the door, Onyx fired an eldritch blasting, sending the toothy flesh pulp crashing into the bed with deep thunderous boom. (demon takes 14 damage +2 Thunder Damage)
Chazrael fired his bow as well, and unfortunately he too missed as the creatures rapid movement from the spell prevented aiming.
Finally, Arbon jumped in alongside Grahl and slammed the beasty into the floor before it could get up! (demon takes 8 damage)
The hunter swore up and down as the demon and entire group flew towards him, dashing for the space behind the door! (disengage)
Walking up, its clear that the demon had clearly died after the thunderous boom. but at least you are sure that its dead. (Combat over)
"That was brief but satisfying," Arbon laughs and turns to Grahl and slaps him on the shoulder, "That was some quick thinking and fancy work with that axe of your's, my orcish friend. I'm looking forward to fighting side-by-side with you! Though, you'll see that I was the one that finished this one off," he says with a chuckle as he teases Grahl.
As he tries to get the demon goop off his mace, Arbon turns to Marchosias. "You seem to know your demons. I appreciated the advice. I have some knowledge here, but your insight is much sharper than my own on these creatures." He then addresses the group, "A good first encounter, no? As we continue further friends, if any of you have any ideas on how to keep them focussed on Grahl and I, other than us obviously hitting them, I'm all ears. I think it best we keep them contained and you all safe."
(( Just FYI, I'll always be sure to add that thunder damage into Onyx's rolls. ))
As he stepped into the room, being sure to get close to the still-lit torch, Onyx simply nodded at Arbon. He surprised himself that he didn't speak--and it was then that he recognized just how heavily he was breathing. True, he had been scared, but he realized it was the sheer intensity of being in combat with a demon that made the encounter so... so exhilarating.
"Well," he finally began, once able to formulate a sentence, "I'll try to keep them focused on you by staying as far away as I can!" The warlock chuckled at his own obviously self-deprecating joke before going silent for a moment.
He suddenly turned to Marchosias. "Yes," he added, "I have to agree with Arbon; that was useful knowledge. Apparently we have much to learn from each other on this mission."
It was then that he turned his attention to the downed monster. He cast Prestidigitation on it to clean it a bit as he knelt beside it, examining its features.
"A wolf does not grow old if it does not know the hunt," Marchosias grumbles, acknowledging the complement. Zariel had given him more knowledge than he had thought. He wasn't sure he liked it. He loads another bolt, cautiously following the others into the room. He turns towards the Hunter. "What's going on here? What kind of relic is causing this?"

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Grahls muscles tense and as his grip on his axe goes firmer at the touch of Arbons slap on his shoulder. Raising his axe a few inches in instinct as Grahls head turns quickly towards him to see a potential target but he stops himself before going further. Adrenaline still clearly coursing through Grahl as he calms down slowly.
He nods as Arbon complements his skill with the axe. His face a bit angry when Arbon says its his kill. Taking it as an insult Grahl did not finish it off himself. Grahl gazes at the creature seeing his axe left large wounds knowing he did a great amount of damage to the creature but having seen his axe was not the blow that took down the creature he only blames himself. He merely says Grahl will do better next fight.
At the moment Arbon says they should all try to get enemies to attack Grahl he responds shocked and growls Grr, human no like Grahl? Not sure why someone with armor and a large shield would suggest Grahl to get attacked too while he is not even wearing a shirt (He would not know his rage reduces dmg. He stares at Arbon with an angry face for a moment
He burst out in a short laugh Hahah, human jealous of Grahl. Grahl understand he says as he walks a few steps around the room checking to see if there is anything of note here and listening to the others that seem to know about these creatures. (investigation 16)
Arbon laughs with Grahl at his last comment. "It's not that I don't like you, my friend. I've seen barbarians in the heat of battle before, and they are a sight to behold. If you and I are at the forefront, the squishier of our new friends will be safer," Arbon subtly thumbs towards Onyx, then laughs. (Arbon's background is an order knight, so he would have seen barbarians before. He is only new to being a cleric.) "Besides, you did a grand job Grahl. It's just that I got the killing blow," he beams a grin at the half-orc, "We could make it a competition to see who gets the most kills?" Arbon holds out his hand in offer of a handshake to seal his newly formed idea of competition between he and Grahl.
