The room has no windows or doors, just the portal entryway, that turns into an alcove when the portal is closed. The room is lit by a glowing orb on the long table next to the couch. The food, as expected, is really good; and the drinks mix well with the tastes. It almost feels like time moves too fast before the portal opens once more, this time with a silvery glimmer to it. As you step through it you once again find yourself at the base of the Arena entrance. The massive magical projections circle the Arena, showing all of the emerging heroes; and the crowd erupts in thunderous cheers and chants. To your surprise, the pale green skinned woman from before is already standing there, having exited before you.
"You are either impatient, or just very ready." Vadek chuckles to himself. He checks his weapon none last time, the switching mechanism right and ready to go. The strings for it's bow mode holding the glaive blade tight in place.
The smell of sulfur and urine hits you both, and you immediately turn towards the portal. An exceptionally muscular female stands there, with flames literally flickering along her toned red skin and along her many muscles. Her darker red hair spills across her back and the freshly tanned leather gear, still stinking from treatment, as she stretches. She then turns towards you both with a blanked look upon her face, which quickly turns to mistrust, and then anger. It only holds for a moment before her eyes drift over to the Arena before her and the crowded seats. She walks past both of you, pulls out her thick longbow, and thrusts it up high in a new eruption of audience cheers. A look of deep disapproval can be seen on the green skinned girl.
Vadek chuckles, he tried not to overly boast, but he wasn't a stranger to enticing the crowds himself. He steps up to the woman, and raises his glaive over his head as well, looking over his shoulder at the green haired woman, "Come'on, for the crowds."
The red skinned woman slants you a look of mistrust from the corner of her eye, but says nothing. The green skinned girl begins to take a step forward when you all hear a surprisingly deep voice say; "Whooo, I thought I just left the farm! What smells here?" Standing infront of the portal is a tall yellow skinned, boil and wart covered goblin, in loose peasant clothing. He is bald, with bright orange eyes. "Oh, hello everyone, it is a pleasure to meet you all... though not as much to smell you." He says with a smile.
Vadek gestures to the goblin to join them, riling up the crowd was one of the ways the favorites became favorites. He he growled and roared, showing his fangs, and his readiness for action. Vadek calms after a time, letting the crowd begin to simmer themselves so the proceedings could begin. "My name is Vadek, I am a caster, and warrior." He takes his signature broken bronze mask from it's place at his belt, and dons it. "Let's get this show on the road."
Not wanted to be outdone, the red woman at your side yells even louder; "ZOLIS OWNS YOU ALL!!!" It is met with more confusion than cheers; but she doesn't seem to notice. The green skinned woman hesitates for a moment staring at the goblin for some time before turning towards the audience. For a second red outlines her cheeks; and a glimmer of a tear can be seen in the corner of her eye. It quickly fades away as her look of defiant arrogance returns to her face. At the end of your cheer, you see a shadow fall over you and, with a twist, the goblin leaps and flips over your head; landing infront of you, going into a flurry of kicks and swings of punches and elbows.
"You can see we are ready, let us begin!" Vadek shouts, and slams the butt of his glaive into the ground, the spiked tip cracking the stone beneath his feet. A small, locked chest rattles in it's mesh netting hanging from his backpack.
The gigantic image of the Baron Lord of Golden Crown appears in the center of the arena. "The time has come, once again! These heroes you see before you, yet again must fight against the growing dangers of the world and to earn their rank among the Heroes of the Realm!!!" The Arena erupts into a deafening roar. After a few moments he continues; "As usual, the heroes have been randomly placed together to see how they can handle the diverse dangers of the world with whomever around them may be able to aid. You never know who will come to your aid at the moment evil lurks.
He turns around, facing the other half of the Arena; his long silver lined red cloak billows briefly behind him, matching his long silvered red hair. "In mere moments the portals will reactive and the heroes will step back through; this time as the team that they will hopefully survive and succeed together! Good luck, trust your judgement, and spread the honor of the Arena and the glorious city of Golden Crown!!" The cheers echo through the arena, only interrupted by the sound of the portal behind you reactivating.
Vadek is the first through the portal, his glaive at the ready, he was eager to accomplish the mission. He jumps as he enters the portal, to give himself time to react to whatever was on the other side.
Vadek comes out the other side of the portal with a loud thud! The sound of melodic pipe music suddenly and abruptly stops, the sound of small creatures skittering away, and the strong smell of oil fills the area. "Nooow whyy theee heeeell diiiid yyyoooouuu dooo thaaaat!?!" The goat like Satyr infront of you says. He is sitting on a tree stump in the center of a thick woods. Before you can reply, the roaring charging form of the Zolis comes out of the portal behind you, nearly knocking you out of the way. "Where is the prey!?" She calls out. "Show me the monster!" The Satyr screams an ear piercing scream, that silences the forest. "Nooow thaaat III haaavee yyyooouur aaatteeentiiiooon, Woouuuld yyoouu miiind teeelliiing meee whyyy yyyooouu aaareee chaaargiiing iiin heeeree???"
"Weeell weelcoomee too thee Gliimeerwooood. III aam Striilaat; III aam thee oonee thaat coontaacteed thee Guuiild. Duuoon claaiimeed myy friieend Kheessoouus Graaniiteejaaw; tooook hiim straaiight froom thee tooweer. Oonee oof hiis feelloow guuaards saaw hiim geet luureed aawaayy byy thaat cuursiid Daarkliing moomeents beefooree theeyy vaaniisheed iintoo daarkneess." Strilat says; a look of great sadness and despair on his face.
At this moment the Goblin leaps through the portal, landing next to you fist at the ready. He quickly assess the situation and puts his arms down. "Okay, so it is definitely one of you two that smells; its not our Water Genasi friend." He says, pointing his thumb back at the portal. "Oh, and now I smell a weird oily scent; does anyone else smell that?"
Vadek nods towards the satyr, "He might have something to do with the oil smell." Vadek was clean, his clothes and armor were clean, and polished. He had to work harder as a hobgoblin to not draw the ire of the fairer races, so he presented himself well at all times.
"IIt iis noot III thaat thee ooiil coomees froom; buut thee Boogglees thaat yyoouu aall scaareed ooff!" He looks offended. "Saatyyrs doon't smeell oof ooiil!" The Water Genasi girl then calmly walks through the portal and it closes behind her, revealing a hollowed out tree behind it. "So." She says. "What's the situation." And after a pause. "Is this area about to be lit on fire? We should probably move." Her face still holds the look of arrogance, even though there is a hint of concern in her voice.
"No, just boogles, I guess." Vadek replied to the Genasi. He looks back to Satyr, "Which way is the tower?" And to the others, "We can start our investigation there."
"Noot Booooglees, Booggles. AAnd III caan leeaad yyoouu too thee tooweer." Strilat says; getting up from the tree trunk and putting away his pipes. There is a slight skip to his step, that you feel would be higher if not for his depressed state. Zolis leans over to the Water Genasi and loudly whispers; "I could start a fire if you want?" She smiles, almost sinisterly. "I'm hot like that." And then she laughs a deep laugh.
Vadek follows the satyr, using his glaivebow as a walking stick, his gear rattling as it shifts position. The mouse, Crag, has popped out of a compartment on the backpack, carrying a chunk of bread, nibbling on it from Vadek's shoulder, squeaking lightly and sniffing the wilderness air.
Before Strilat can begin leading the way, the portal opens once more, with three horses and an Oxen walking out; with your animal companions included. Zolis hops up onto her large black horse, and pulls it up behind Strilat. "Follow my lead; I am a scout, so I'll scout out the best path for your horses...and whatever that thing is." She says, motioning towards the Oxen.
The water genasi visibly reaches out towards Crag; before turning to see her silver haired horse appear. She takes a moment to climb on top of her and then notices your Ice Spider and Raven. "Oh, so many critters. You are an interesting person Vadek." She says with a smile on her face.
Vadek nods to her, "As you are. I have never met a Genasi, let alone a water Genasi." He loads his gear on to his very large draft horse, and lifts the dog Bolt on to the horse, before climbing on himself, his raven cawing agitatedly at him jostling the cage as he climbs on. "Easy now Riven, easy." He says to the raven. He attaches the ice spiders cage back to his belt, dropping a beetle into it as he does.
"Ice spiders make a fantastically strong silk, that comes out cold, very useful to bring on long trips. And quite friendly when fed and cared for properly." He says to the Genasi, stripped of most his gear as it is now hanging from his horse.
