Humans, dwarves, elves, and their ilk have always terrorized your people. They call you a monster, but they've robbed your people of gold, prized weapons, and family heirlooms. After centuries of fighting, they have driven you from your homelands to build kingdoms of their own. Hope was lost until the foundation of the first city to welcome the "non-desirables." Dorborden, called by humans as the City of Monsters, came to be in the last century or so. This is where you live now. Perhaps you traveled to Dorborden from your ravaged homeland or were born there. In the next week, Walpurgisnacht, the first festival of its kind, will begin where hags divine the future of Dorborden and some of her people.
What is Oethea's Chosen?
This campaign will feature roleplaying, collaborative world building, settlement building, and adventuring. Humans, dwarves, elves, halflings, etc., the typical kind of adventurers, are the enemy! You will work together to protect your people and icons from their grubby, greedy hands!
Oethea is the name of the planet as given by the 'monster' races. They are chosen in that they believe they are blessed by the planet itself to protect certain objects, icons, and heirlooms from the 'human' races. This takes place in a setting apart from the Forgotten Realms and is something the DM and the players will work to build together. Players won't be expected to make up the world, but are able to make up if they would like: the land of their origin, the religiosity of their clan (or entire race if they are the only ones playing said race), and help come up with NPCs. This is at the discretion of the DM. The DM will be responsible for tying together all the players' input, creating the enemies, and throwing out adventuring opportunities.
Character Submission
Please leave a comment with: Your name, your proposed race, your proposed class, proposed background, and a backstory no longer than 500 words. Feel free to make up NPCs, jobs, towns, customs, or other things to flesh out your backstory. You may be asked to tweak your backstory if you are chosen to play.
As this is a particular kind of game, races will be limited to:
Bugbear
Firbolg
Goblin
Hobgoblin
Kenku
Kobold
Lizardfolk
Orc
Tabaxi
Triton
Yuan-Ti Pureblood
Others (If you have something in mind that doesn't exist, feel free to post it anyway, but have a back-up in case. EX: Gnoll)
No class limits. Everyone will start at level 1.
Details to keep in mind before you apply:
All characters will be considered 'young people.' So no seasoned warriors, mystics, or troop leaders. Since everyone is level 1 with 0 EXP, please treat your backstory accordingly.
There will be 'downtime' between major events. After a major event or an adventure has been completed, they will be in-game week(s) that go by with no major events. This will be represented in IRL time by players roleplaying out part of the day and talking about whatever they are doing downtime wise. More exact details will be discussed later. This will allow time for players to roleplay and get to know their characters and other characters.
There will be posting limits during events. When major events are going on, such as talking to NPCs or going on an adventure, players can only post twice without having to wait for EVERYONE to have a chance to post. Example, while walking on a trail toward a cave to invite trolls to join Dorborden, the two Goblins in the group can post twice, however, they can't post again until the Firbolg in their team has had a chance to react to what is happening.
With these things in mind, please apply if this game seems appealing to you! Four players will be chosen, and the game will begin late September/early October depending on how quickly people submit applications. The in-game thread will be separate from this one.

While characters are adventuring, you can't have a lot of back and forth banter as you approach a cave for example. This can alienate other players and make them feel they aren't involved. This campaign will be generous to those of us who cannot post as many times a day as others. In the example I gave, it would allow the firbolg character a chance to respond to what is going on with the other PCs. I will be requesting everyone be capable of posting at least once a day, and the specifics of that will be discussed by people who are chosen to participate.

Yes. I am looking to make a game of COMPLETELY outcasted races, such as goblins. Tieflings and Drow, while not really liked by society at large in any setting I've played in, they can still find some acceptance somewhere or at least find refuge in cities. This is for the completely undesirable.

Lord Vovos Umbersea the Triton Oath of Devotion Paladin Noble.
Backstory:
Lord Vovos Umbersea use to live deep in the ocean until now. Vovos is the youngest son of Duke Marlos Umbersea. The Umbersea family has held a spot on King Varques council for many years. Growing up Vovos was trained in martial combat and received the best education money could buy; not that Vovos ever paid attention. He instead choice to fight and party. One day his partying got a little out of hand and Vovos rode a giant Sea Horse into the middle of a Council meeting. Embarrassed at his son's action Marlos sent Vovos to the temple of Persana, deity of the Tritons. It was there that he became a Paladin of Persana. As a young Paladin it is his duty to go on a pilgrimage to practice and uphold the duty of Persana. Vovos pilgrimage has sent him up to the surface world. However, this pilgrimage is going to be harder than he expected; especially since nobody know about his family and title. He is used to giving out orders that are expected to be obeyed. Used to be living in the best conditions possible. Even at the temple he had servants to wash his armor. However, everyone here just looks at him confused and doesn’t obey his orders. When he talks about how great the Tritons are everyone has no idea about anything he is saying. Vovos simply cannot let this go on any longer. It is his new goal to spread the word of how great Tritons, specifically himself, are and how they should be eternally grateful to them.
Shahk was born into a spiritual, nature bound tribe of Orcs. They believed in the laws of nature. Nomadic in nature the Greenhand tribe wandered. For centuries they were not bothered, and remained much like a pack of wolves. That all changed when the [s]fire nation attacked[/s] elves moved in. Elves know better, they are the true guardians of the forest. The Greenhand clan did not respond nicely to this intrusion. They evicted the first wave with extreme prejudice and savagery unlike anything they'd seen before. The elves decided the orcs were violent, got reinforcements, and wiped out most of the tribe in a joint attack. Shahk was ten when this happened.
He will always remember the flames and horror of that day, which he does not speak of to outsiders. Shahk was carried into the woods by a stag asked for help. There he was largely raised by nature itself, and strives to honor the half understood ways of his dead tribe. He reveres nature as such, even as he still struggles to deal with the aftermath years later. Shahk heard about Dorborden from a young man traveling there himself. He could scarcely believe that there was such a thing and journeyed to the festival to see if perhaps there was hope in a bleak future.

Carturak never fit in among his kind. he was always disliked by his brethren, being pushed around and beaten up. "You are so bad at fighting!" or "You will never be as good as the worst of us!" or the worst, "you do not belong here! you should have never been born!" But they were almost right. he may not have been the greatest fighter, but he was smarter. he was actually the smartest in his homeland. he researched everything abut his kind he could get his hands on. one day, while he was reading about the great Minotaur leaders, they attacked. a large group of adventurers seeking treasure and glory. they killed his fellow villagers, his leader, and his family all for the fun of it. he hid from them, leading to only his survival. everyone else was killed. he gathered his belongings, and set off to another homeland. he finally found another village to live in after many months of travel. the villagers all treated him better. they wouldn't call him a bad fighter (they weren't the best fighters themselves...). they all researched many things, an Carturak became known as the most powerful Minotaur there.
Trikt the Goblin Outlander Ranger (Eventually Beastmaster): Neutral Evil to the goody two shoes, Chaotic Neutral among the misunderstood folks of Oethea
Trikt is a Goblin Hunter, his tribe has held a modestly sized dungeon in a remote forest for as long as he can remember, and for the most part went unmolested by the 'civilized' races during his childhood. Trikt didn't hate being one of the tribe, especially when the women folk would put on a large pot of rabbit or rat stew. However there was something about being out among the tree's and the forest that just felt right for Trikt. He felt like he could really be himself out there with the wild creatures. So one day, before his hunting group woke up, he poisoned their rations with wild berries and left. It felt like the right thing for him to do, they were really only holding him back anyways. When he came across the Dorborden in his travels he felt the urge to be around others grow and he gave in, after all if it didn't work out he could just leave...like he did last time.
Physical Description: Trikt is a tall Goblin, at 4'1", and built athletically. He has mud brown skin and pale orange eyes. His black hair is long and kept tied back at all times, woven into his hair are the feathers and claws of some of the creatures he has slain.
Odarryss comes from a land of mighty beasts--enormous, terrifying reptiles. His people learned to hunt them and managed to eke out an acceptable living. Over time, they became more and more vicious and more and more dangerous, and Odarryss' tribe lost more and more hunters. Eventually, a Moschops stampede wiped out the few remaining survivors, with the exception of Odarryss. Now he travels in search of a safe haven away from the dinosaur hordes he only subconsciously suspects exist.
He still carries a throwing weapon made from six Compsognathus teeth--three large and three small--tied together to form a pseudo-round disk of sorts. (simple ranged weapon, Light, Finesse, Thrown (range 20/60), 1d4 slashing damage)
