[Mordekii knows Infernal, but doesn't let on the he used his Awakened Mind or that he heard what Asp said to the Tribal Warriors]
Mordekii examines the skins found and says
"Hey, do you guys think these would be worth anything? I remember merchants passing through the city would sometimes sell things like this. Should we takes this back to the captain? Oh look, a spy glass!"
Mordekii tries to use the spy glass. [Does it work at all, despite its damage?]
"Hmm a little damaged, but the captain might like this too."
Hearing the others discussing going further into the jungle Mordekii adds his vote
"Oh yes! Lets go check out the tower Deryck found."
[If we are taking all of the phat loot, who will carry it, my character has only 8 strength so I vote not me :p]
The snake skins came from small snakes so they weigh nothing. The lens of the spyglass is a little cracked.
Note: Waiting for a couple more votes before we go to the spire.

Devious serpent folk devoid of compassion, yuan-ti manipulate other creatures by arousing their doubts, evoking their fears, and elevating and crushing their hopes. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
Kap will offer to hold the loot with their 18 strength.
"I would go to the spire if everyone else wants to," Kap says.
Kap will look at the spear they took from the tribal warrior, think for a moment on what to do with it, and decide to keep it(They never know if the next people they fight will have a weapon)

Deryck, quietly watching the conversations decides to try push his way out of the canopy to try and locate the spire again to ensure that the group heads in the right direction (Perception: 7, if needed)
Once he spots the spire the glides back down to the group to inform them where it is.
"A broken spy glass? Hmmmm let me see." Deryck takes it and looks through. "Hmm could be useful in some situations but will not allow for speed. I will hold onto it until someone needs it more than i do, Thanks". With that Deryck takes flight again, not wanting to be on the ground any longer than he has to.
Gwythian addresss the party, "perhaps while we all still have our strength, luck and plenty of daylight we should push on to the spire, perhaps if any of you is athletic enough they could try and gain a higher vantage point in the taller trees and see if they can see anything through the spy glass. That's if it's not too badly cracked."

You are able to find the spire's location easily. The sun is beginning to set when you arrive at the spire.
"On the far side of the isthmus which connects the east side of the island with the west is a towering spire above the canopy. The structure appears semi-natural, as if it had erupted from the earth rather than being built. The tower itself is mainly made from obsidian and steel. The entrance is little more than a cave mouth."
You come closer.
"Perched on a ledge about 10 feet above the spire's entrance is a hideous creature. It has the head, neck, and tail of a snake, with bat-like wings, and a scaled, humanoid body covered in spines. It is constantly writhing, observing the area."

The spire has some runes written on them. This reveals that the spire has infernal origins. The serpentine creature can be identified with an arcana check (and no I did not mean nature).

Durkslag and Mordekii recognize the creature as some kind of devil. Mordekii sees infernal runes written around the entryway. They have long since faded but he can see that they have an arcane purpose. No dangers seem to be in the jungle around. None of you can see signs of life within the tower. It becomes obvious that only the first few stories of the spire can be occupied, since the higher parts of the tower are too narrow to contain any significant interior space.
Durkslag steps on a twig, snapping it. The spined devil spots him and Gwythian!

The devilish creature telepathically says in Durkslag's head: "Sticks and stones do not satisfy my interests. This is my master's tower and you shall not enter."
It shoots two tail spines: One at Gwythian and the other at Durkslag.
7 to hit. It misses Durkslag.
13 to hit. It partially pierces Gwythian's armor, but not deep enough to pierce his flesh.
Roll initiative (the spined devil has not noticed the other five of you. Only Gwythian and Durkslag).
