Non of you have ever heard of the MadCap before and this strange ramshackle building disappears in the blink of an eye. You are all left with the feeling of not being quite certain whether what you just saw actually happened. Even the memory seems a bit vague.

Jianyu, rifles through his pack and pulls out his cartography supplies and a handful of maps. He compares the different maps and makes several notations on one. He continues to sit and study the maps longer than you might expect.
Garn opens his mouth, closes it. Opens it again and turns in a circle, eyeing the surroundings. Everything else looked the same... he closes his mouth again and heads back for the graves. "I think we've got this set to rights... think we can salvage any of these wagons? How come you were even in these parts, anyways?" He sounds more curious than suspicious, it's rare that Garn sees humans come to trade.
"Well, what do ya think?" Betit asks. "This place seems to be more dangerous by the moment. We might be best off moving this lady along, or we can keep looking around."
"We are tailors," Ganessa says. "Or were atleast. We came to sell clothes and thought we might extend our business if we moved closer to the mountains... Didn't count on bumping into talking goats and mad wolves. These people we are burying are all I knew of a family." She begins to cry again.

Jianyu, now scarcely aware of his companions, circles the space where The Madcap once stood. His face moves between subtle grins of excitement and discovery, and frowns of deep thought.
As he paces he picks up a handful of soil. He sniffs it. He tastes it. He works it in his fingers as he watches it fall to the ground. He picks a few blades of grass and throws them into the air watching the direction and speed of the breeze as they fall. He looks to the horizon and holds out his fist, measuring the angle of the falling sun.
Then he returns to his map and adds more notations. Trying to determine the methods and magic of planar travel.
Tempest watches Jianyu for a moment before she goes to comfort the human woman. She gives a sad smile to Garn. "Things will be alright, Ganessa." She cooes to the woman.
Tempest joins Jianyu after a moment, hoping to help him with his investigations. "What are you doing exactly, my friend? If you seek assistance with understanding nature, well..." She tilts her head with a grin. "Look no further~. Allow me to help you in any way I can."

Jianyu jumps slightly, as though startled. He puts a finger to his lips with a smile and turns his head as though listening. Not for danger, but to the breeze passing through the branches. He holds the map for Tempest to examine. It's titled "Fey Wild Cross-Planar Incursions" it has a few notes indicating speculations and second or third hand accounts. But at their current location is a known incident with the current date and the word "MadCap".
Jianyu sprinkles sand on the ink, blows it off, and folds it neatly back into his pack.
He claps Tempest on the shoulder with a satisfied nod. Then gestures back to their task.
He picks up his shovel and returns to the job at hand.
After finishing the grizzly task of burying the dead, you accompany Ganessa back to Ruthenia. When you arrive you notice a large gathering of locals outside the Golden Goat. "There they are!" a local male shouts.
"She's leading him astray", a ugly looking old dwarf woman shouts, pointing at Tempest. "She's an evil abomination!"

Garn gets a furious look. His brow lowers, his stance squares up and he actually stomps towards the crowd. "You bunch of liver lillied cowards!"
The amount of volume that the dwarf could muster was impressive. His face was red, his blood pressure was no doubt up. "She risks her life for your worthless hides, and this is how you act? Cowards!" He stomps the earth with an ominous boom.
edit because of my fat fingers: He keeps aggressively advancing on the crowd, looking ready to throw a punch.
Tempest would be taken aback by this, but it is a prejudice she had encountered most of her life on the island. Though her family was proud and well-to-do, they were still Tieflings, and dwarves weren't known for their low voices. She gave a cautious smile to the offended dwarven woman.
"What is the matter?" Tempest stands tall and hopes she appears unyielding. "What have I done to upset you? I apologize if the maiming of the wolves alarmed you... It was difficult," Tempest took a deep breath to keep herself from crying. "But necessary nonetheless."
Tempest knew full well that wasn't what had the people in a tizzy, but she hoped to gleam the truth from the angry mob.

Betrit was not often shocked, yet today was one of those day.
"She left save your town not but a couple nights ago. She helped protect a woman who she didn't even know!" Betrit began.
"And I stand with her, think of all I've done for this town." His voice was rising, and he began point to members of the crowd, "Your foot a saved after the mining accident!" "Your son I cured of the fever!" "I helped you give birth!" "Ye should all be ashamed for these thought. Go home and ask those you worship for forgiveness. And tomorrow find this woman here, aye she's a woman not a demon, and apologize to her and ask how ye can atone for what ya have said tonight."

Betrit begins to shake a bit, Branka stands behind him and he seems to be putting most of his weight on her after his speech.
You cannot discern the precise source of fear that got these people so wound up. Nothing you have said so far has been persuasive. No advantage for anyone in this instance for persuasion, if anyone speaks anymore to the crowd please accompany the roll with persuasion again.
Branka squeaks quietly under Betrit's weight. A man's voice comes from somewhere within the crowd. "His mother said she kidnapped young Garn by using some sort of witchery so he would go with her!"
A moment later Gurdis comes forward from within. "Come home my boy, these people you're with are dangerous and you're going to get yourself killed."

Jianyu almost laughs aloud. The idea that a grown boy would need some magical influence to seek independence... and not a soul in this town sees the absurdity of that... Jianyu only shakes his head. There's not much he can do here to help. He stands confidently. Garn will have to defend his own actions here.
He looks out over the crowd again. The idea is so foolish there may be something more sinister going on here... (Perception: 18 looking for something out of place maybe a woman with a wart on her nose and a pointy hat in the back wringing her hands and cackling...)
Betrit has somehow retreated behind Branka... all his courage has faded and only the fact that Branka is around is keeping him from running, that and the fact that he isn't sure he can run right now.
