"I'm Cor'avin," the rogue held out her hand. "My friends over there are Larken and Jilwyn. And who, may I ask, are you two?" Cor was short, especially next to her two companions, but she projected a much larger confidence. She had short red hair that barely touched her shoulders and striking green eyes. She would be the first to admit that she was nowhere near as intimidating as the towering fighter behind her, but that was alright by her.
"I am Kulan, Son of Ghurdokk Blood Axe, and Paladin of Ilneval. I'll let my companion introduce herself, but you missed Syndra Silvane by less than a minute."
Kulan take Cor'avin's hand with a firm grasp, then releases it and moves to shake hands with Larken and Jilwyn.

Larken accepts the hand, giving Kulan a nice firm grip. He's curious about the two armored knights. He'd never heard of that god, but that didn't surprise him. His life primarily revolved around Selune's will anyway. "We saw her leaving," he says simply. "We'll be leaving in the morning, so I suggest you purchase whatever wares we need for travel before then. Travelling the jungles will be harsh. Cor can accompany you if needed... she knows the bazaar like the back of her hand."
As Kulan moves off towards the others, Korine greets Cor'avin as well, grasping her forearm in the style of Turmish, as her parents always had. "I am Korine" she offers with a small smile, knowing it helped set people at ease after the sight of her white crest of hair set off against the brown of her skin. "A pleasure to meet you."
She is about to say more, but her words cut off as she gets a better look at Cor's companions. "Perhaps I should meet your friends as well. Would you care to introduce me?," she asks instead.
Jil took Kulan's hand, placing her other hand on top. She was slightly chilled, and his hand felt warm. She smiled sweetly and spoke with a soft voice. "Blessings of the Goddess be with you. I'm Jilwyn Brightwood." She moved to Korine and repeated the process. To the both of them, she said, "Welcome to Chult. If you like cities, you'll love it here. I highly suggest the dinosaur races, those are my favorites. I'm sure Cor will suggest the cinnamon rolls. I'm afraid I won't be joining you to the bazaar. I need to get some rest before..." She paused, thinking of the right words. "Before my nightly rituals." Jil walked back to Larken, and placed a hand on his arm.
"We'll be staying at Kaya's House of Repose," Larken said, getting Jil's hint. He grasps Korine's arm as well, a sturdy grasp as a show of strength. "Please meet us there when you're ready and we can go over the map and plans and get to know each other a bit more. Much of the jungles is unexplored, so I wish to move as soon as possible." He nods to the new companions and turns to escort Jil to Kaya's House of Repose.
Before Cor'avin had a chance to introduce Jilwyn and Larken, they had introduced themselves. As soon as introductions were over, Jilwyn pulled Larken away and the two left for the inn. The rogue sighed, her lack of surprise at their actions not lessening the disappointment in any way. They would always choose each other, and leave her to deal with whatever else needed to get done. She didn't allow her mood to last more than a second, as there were more pressing matters to deal with. Namely the fact that there were two knights in shining armor that she would apparently have to babysit.
"Sorry they left so soon, it's been a long day," she attempted to smooth things over. "I suppose I'll be your tour guide for the evening?" She laughed at her own joke, because damn it all if she wasn't funny. "So, where would you two like to start?"
"Hm. What equipment do you think we would need? Required equipment should be our first priority, and then useful, but non-vital things next. Rations, waterskins, and stuff like that, I'd imagine would be required. I think anything that won't be of any use should be left behind - we don't know how long we'll be in there, do we?"

"Lark is a hunter, but we should still get some rations and waterskins," Cor'avin got down to business right away. She decided that she would like Kulan. He was to the point, if a little formal. He reminded her a little of Hadre, who they used to jokingly call the Grand Master Organizer. "Better weapons will be good. If you have enough gold in that pouch perhaps we can even afford some enchanted items. Lark would know a little better what's required for roughing it in the jungle, to be perfectly honest I have no idea what we'll be facing. There will be jungle, and then after we get there... Who knows."
Korine accepted the greetings from Larken and Jilwyn in turn. As the cleric took her hands she felt a shiver run through her body and had a flash of recognition, though they'd never met. It was often this way with the dreams, and it took her out of the moment just long enough that the woman had pulled away and was leaving with the other warrior already.
She shook off the brief disorientation, turning back to the pair who remained. They were discussing supplies, and what was needed for the expedition into the jungle. "I'd think fresh water itself will be plentiful, but we'll go through plenty in this heat and humidity, so lots of skins, yes. And dry rations, not fresh. Anything fresh will spoil quickly. As to weapons, I'm more than comfortable with my own already, but does your group need anything more? You're right, we could be facing anything so best to be prepared."
"If he knows the jungle better than you, he should have volunteered himself for shopping duties. Wouldn't dream of fresh rations. Honestly, I'd hazard to call something fresh 'rations' at all. I'm happy with my glaive, and somehow I doubt there's enough money here for magically enhanced weaponry, especially after getting more important things. Perhaps we should move to the shopping district or bazaar or whatever it's called here, and that might make our choices more obvious."

"Well, he didn't," Cor felt anger rising up in the pit of her stomach. She didn't want to to stick a dagger in his eye, especially not on the first day. Perhaps she wouldn't be friends with the orc. "You've got me, because I know the shopkeepers better than he does and I'm good at getting the best prices. I've been out there and I know better than most what it'll take. Like I said before, water and rations aren't going to be a huge issue because we have a great hunter. It won't hurt to buy them, but we shouldn't spend all of our money. Getting our weapons silvered may be a wise decision, because I don't know what monsters we will be facing. Rope and climbing equipment may also be a wise investment. Have you ever been to Chult before? No. I've lived here for years, and trust me, I'm your best bet."
Cor'avin translated in elvish to 'legendary storm,' and it was clear her temper was that storm. There was fire in her eyes, although she never raised her voice. "Are you ready to listen and trust me?"
"Calm down, Cor'avin. You're working yourself up far too much, when you had just said he would know better what would be needed. I never said I wasn't going to listen to you, but if you keep that temper up over silly little things, then you may not give me a choice. As for the silvering of weapons, unless you can find it really cheap here, it ain't happening. Unless you happen to have a hundred gold lying around? Between the allowance Syndra gave to us and our own money, I think we'd barely be able to afford a single weapon being silvered, and that's before we buy more important stuff, like the rope and rig you mentioned."
The quick change in the half-elf temper annoys Kulan, especially as it was over something so minor. The human would have been useful in addition to her, not instead of her. Kulan struggles to remain calm and this is very visible on his face.

Kaya's House of Repose is quiet. The tables that line the bottom floor holds many Chultans settled around, calmly having food and drink. They speak in soft murmurs and tend more to themselves. The House is decorated in silk scarfs and brightly painted murals of dinosaurs and forest settings. You can see a few faceless, masked creatures darting between trees in the bright colors. The serving girls, cook, and innkeeper are all dressed in the bright Chultan clothing and, like their patrons, speak softly.
Stairs are settled in the back corner, twisting up to a second floor where most of the bedrooms are situated with their beds. Baths are available for an additional price as water needs to be drawn and heated for cleaning. The downstairs, with the bar of food and drink, has one set of doors that heads off into additional rooms for rent of a soft bed and a good nights rest. The innkeeper is a brightly dressed woman who whistles, clicks, and lyrically speaks to her employees. She keeps a sharp eye on the door, and a gentle smile across her face. She does not personally greet you, but does nod her head as you enter into the House.
Jil slowly made her way to the innkeeper, a sweet smile present on her lips. "Blessings to you," she said in greeting, with a little bow. "I am Jilwyn Brightwood, and this is my friend Larken Kalman. We have been hired by Syndra Silvane for an expedition into the jungle and are in need of lodgings. We have three more companions joining us, so we would need a large enough room for everyone, or two rooms for us all. If you could give us a good deal, I would personally grateful and offer my services to your patrons." She gave the innkeeper another little bow, praying to the Goddess her gift of talk would work.
After a bit of negotiation, Jil was able to broker a deal on three rooms, more than enough space for everyone. She paid for the rooms and turned to Larken. "I don't feel entirely comfortable sharing quarters with anyone besides you and Cor. Not... right now. I know I won't have that luxury once we're in the jungle, but one last night of privacy would be nice. I get the feeling it will be my last."
As soon as you are done with the innkeeper a young woman dressed in the robes of a Savras acolyte--whom you actually recognize as Inete, granddaughter of Zitembe and the head of the Temple of Savras with whom you've had dealings from visiting the Temple library. She too recognizes you as she comes up to your group. For a moment she fidgets, a little unsure of herself, before she blurts out:
"I need your help!"
There is a pause, and then Inete covers her face with a groan.
"Oh that is not what I meant to say," she whines into her hands. She pulls them away. "Let me try again," she says. "Greetings fair friends. I have a request of you, if you would hear me out." Inete pauses again. "That is much better."
Harbormaster's Plight
Vistani; as you travel through the harbor, one of the best places to gather the best rumors you know of--there are plenty of travelers, explorer's, and budding expeditions that often start out in the harbor, not to mention a frequent source of guides for within the wilderness--you hear the Harbormaster Zinder, a half-gold dragon, cursing up a bright storm as he stared at his manifest, and then at the battered shiphand who winces.
"I'm sorry, sir. It is the truth, sir."
Zinder huffs. "Another mess to clean up. Get, get! I have to think."
"But the Pirates, sir--" the shiphand is wide-eyed and fearful.
Zinder rounds back upon the shiphand. "Quiet! Do you want the entire port to hear you? Idiot boy! Go, go and get!"
With wide eyes the shiphand darts off. He clips your shoulder, spins, and crashes to the ground. With a groan he pulls himself back up.
"Sorry, sorry," he mumbles, and darts back off again.
"Peace, friends, stop this bickering." Korine steps between Cor'avin and Kulan, laying a hand on each of their arms. "If what Silvane told us is true, time is of the essence and all we are doing now is wasting it. We've merely gotten off on the wrong foot, I'm sure. Now, the three of us are the ones left to gather supplies, so we must make the best of it. Cor'avin, would you be so kind as to lead us to the bazaar?"
She steps back again, giving Kulan a stern look when Cor turns away. "Larkin was caring for the cleric, she isn't well," she whispers to the half-orc. "Helping her is part of the reason we've ended up here." She leaves it at that and follows Cor. As she does, she feels a warm splat and something running down the side of her head. "Gah!," she equals out, eloquence lost. "Damn bird!," she adds as she looks up and glimpses the culprit flying off.
"Inete," Jil said, taking the girl's hands in her own. "What has happened? Come," she said, pulling the girl over to a table. "Sit, tell us everything."
Larken was always impressed in how buttered Jul's tongue was. No matter where they had gone she was able to find lodging, sometimes even for free. When the small girl came stumbling up to him, he just stared at her with a blank expression. He hadn't had much dealing with the temple so he barely recognized who she was. When Jil once again stepped in and grabbed a table with the girl, he felt a wave of relief.
He sits himself at the table and awaits to hear the girl's story. It was an odd time for her to ask for help when they were just on the cusp of leaving.
Inete followed after Jil and settled at the table. She sucked in a deep breath of air to settle her nerves. Her hands trembled a bit.
"Lately I have been...having dreams," Inete said cautiously. "Visions," she amended, "of red-robes and magic foul. I see the Aldani Basin, a camp, and the sense of illness in the air." Inete clasps her hands tight. "There is too much on Grandfather Zitembe's mind to...seek out the source, the reason for my--for what I see." Inete looked up, eyes pleading. "I feel...I feel as if Savras is sending me a message. With Grandfather's blessing I am allowed to investigate and...I know of your prowess. Of your knowledge." She looks to Larken. "Of your skill as a hunter in the forests of the jungle. Of your friend Cor's...proclivities." Her face twists a bit, mildly frustrated at the things Cor'avin has gotten up to these past years.
It takes a second, but then Inete leans forward earnestly. She seems to gather her wits and in a rush says, "I ask if you would come with me to the Aldani Basin. I have 100 gold I can offer to cover expenses, and any food and water for myself I can provide easily enough so that you don't need to worry about the costs to feed me. I just need safe passage to do Savras' will. By myself I will surely die, but with friends and allies I have a better chance to find the truth of this. Please, please will you accompany me to the Basin? The coin is yours if you agree, for whatever you feel you need!"
"I'm Cor'avin," the rogue held out her hand. "My friends over there are Larken and Jilwyn. And who, may I ask, are you two?"
