Vistani was surprised that the shiphand wound up on the ground instead of her. The collision definitely hurt and she'd probably have a bruise. Thankfully none of her instruments were damaged thanks to good cases. If something happened to her viol she might have been coaxing something out of him in return. She watched him run off into the crowd before stepping up to the harbormaster.
"He is scared witless, but maybe no one will take him serious, especially if he tells the tale drunk." She keeps her voice low. "Any reason there would be more activity than the usual around? Any signs of major storms brewing?" Hopefully he knew she alluded to storms made by pirates.
She rolled the shoulder on the side the shiphand had run into. It made her grit her teeth even while she tried to smile. Why did she wind up with a body so easily bruised? Hopefully that didn't lead to her being an easy victim to the curse. Even if she could not get more information than the rumors she had already heard, the new people she had met at the bakery proved truth rang in the rumors.

"Aldani Basin," Larken says, thinking for a moment. "That's along the River Soshenstar... and is in the direction we will be headed." He looks to Jil as he says this, "We can take her. I see no reason why not." It's settled in his head. He doesn't even think about what would happen if the girl dies on the journey or how she's expected to get back. It may be a delay to investigate the happenings in the camp, but 100gp going towards the travel expenses would be a big help.
Jil frowned considering all angles. "We are meeting with others, who will be joining us. We can't accept until everyone is gathered and hears your story. Would you be able to stay, or even come back in the morning?" She smiled at Inete. "This isn't me saying no. Larken and I just can't decide for everyone."
Inete fidgeted for a moment, then sighed heavily. "I understand. Come...come find me at the Temple when you've decided, even if it is to say no. Please?" She looks at Jil imploringly. "And please...it is important. Stress that to your friends for me? These dreams...these visions...they disturb me so much. I am afraid that something sinister is afoot." Inete ducked her head, and placed a single gold coin down onto the table.
"For food and drink," she mumbled. "I'm sorry for taking up your time." Hands clasped tight in front of her robes she quickly shuffles off. Given her tense posture it is apparent she is worried you will say no.
Jil tried to give the gold back. "No, Inete..." but she was already gone. She pushed the gold piece to Larken, worry on her face. "I've never seen her like this before." She pulled out her journal and made a few notes. "Do you think we can help her?"
"They've been more helpful than the temple of Gond, Jil. Remember that... we knew they'd ask for something after your spending nearly a year in their libraries." It seemed a small enough request to him. He's guided a few people down the river in the past, but usually to one of the more well known camps. He can't imagine they'd say no to her, but he also feels the loss of the 100gp that they could have added to Cor's shopping. But it was a good judgement call. They knew nothing of the newcomers, so to assume they would be ok transporting a priestess to a camp that may have been completely overran would have been a bad call. Finally he adds, "We can help her, I think."
Her eyes widen as Zinder grabbede her hand and pressed a paper into it while pulling her close. "Maybe if you had some friends, I'd think about it." He let go just as quickly and shooed her away. (Meta: Persuasion 6)
She walked off rubbing her wrist and stopped in a quieter spot to open the paper crumpled in her hand.
Bounty for pirate ships Dragonfang, Emerald Eye, and Strige. 2,000gp for each capture. Bonus 500gp for each pirate captain capture. By order of the Merchant Princes. It had a seal on it that she recognized. (Meta: Int roll - 20 )
Her brows arched looking at the seal. It did not belong to any of the Merchant Princes. It belonged to the Ytepka Society. She stuffed it in her pocket as she whistled in shock. She quickly started whistling a jaunty tune to cover her surprised whistle as she moved back amongst the crowds. The Ytepka Society was the balance keeper of Port Nyanzaru. They always worked in the shadows using sanctions with the Merchant Princes to mete out the punishments to make sure the government remained intact and nefarious forces never hindered the city for long. So even though it said the order was by the Merchant Princes, she knew full well the Ytepka Society was probably paying. The amount listed was probably only a share to anyone that helped a Merchant Prince be the catcher of any of these pirates and their ships.
So how did one go about enticing a pirate captain into a trap? The thought made her laugh interrupting her whistling. She pulled out a flute to play as she walked toward the inn where she would meet the interesting people again from the bakery. She didn't have much to help them, but had interesting information about pirates and nature spirits of the jungle. Who knew what else might turn up before she got there?
"Small slights only grow," Cor'avin muttered to herself in Elven. Perhaps it wasn't the most constructive motto, but she was still alive so it had to serve her well. "I'm what you've got, temper and all," she reverted to common. "If I'm not enough for you then you are more than welcome to find your own way or head back to Kaya's."
The rogue turned without another word, beginning the trek to the bazaar. As they walked, she passed by Ifan Talro's and an idea sparked in her head. Cor gave a short whistle, catching the attention of a small urchin boy. She flipped him copper, which he caught with ease. "Kayn, would you mind doing another favor for me?" She asked with a smile. This was not the first time she had done this, as she considered the city's urchins to be one of the most underutilized resources. "Can you inquire for me how much a dinosaur mount would be?" The ten-year old boy nodded emphatically before scampering off.
Before long, they had arrived at Ekene-Afa's, home to all of the adventuring equipment she could hope for. As soon as she stepped through the door, a pair of attendants grabbed her and ushered her into a familiar back room, leaving her two new paladin friends behind. "Ekkie! It's been too long," she announced her presence as she entered the room. Just as she had expected, the shop owner sat waiting for. "How have you been, my dear?"
Jil closed her eyes, and rubbed the bridge of her nose. "I know. I know. I just don't feel like we can agree to this without talking to Cor and the others. This journey is going to be difficult enough without forcing people to do something they haven't agreed to. We can only hope they will agree, and we can help Inete." She opened her eyes and thought about their more recent situation. "We have three rooms. My only request is that I don't sleep with the new people. I don't want to wake them when I leave tonight for my rituals..." She trailed off, lost in her thoughts.
"I'll stay with you," Larken responds, "That won't be a problem. The others may not even want a room here... another assumption." He winks at Jil before getting the attention of an attendant. He hands the kid the gold and says, "We are expecting additional people. Please have food and drink ready for them."
"They'd be fools to turn down a free room." Jil smiled back at Larken. "Besides, I'm sure Cor will join us. That leaves 2 rooms open. They each can have their own private room. Can't turn that down, can you?" She got quiet a moment, gathering her thoughts, then leaned closer and spoke quietly. "Do you think we'll really find it? Do you think we can find a cure?"
Larken sighs, but looks back at Jil and locks his gaze on her eyes, "You've seen Syndra. Her desperate certainty makes me certain we'll find it. I bet we're merely the first of many she's sending out in the jungles. This curse will be broken... if not by us than by others." He breaks the gaze and looks about the inn for a moment, "I still don't think you should go."
Jil placed a hand on his. "Do you know what I see when I look at Syndra? A glimpse into my future. It's going to become more and more difficult to hide. If there's anyone determined enough to find this cure, it's me." She gave his hand a squeeze. "Besides, I'd rather spend my last days with you."
Vistani stepped into the inn with a swirl of skirts, but quietly. She knew not to disturb a higher end establishment though she got a lot of looks. She smiled at the patrons while searching for any of the three from the bakery. She easily found two of them. At least, the woman looked more awake at the moment.
"Always something interesting in this city." She took a seat after carefully setting her instruments next to her chair. "Oh, they have depictions of the nature spirits in that mural." She pointed. "They are mostly harmless, but I'm thinking they can be quite dangerous if something is threatening them. Plenty of them about the jungle."

Larken raises her hand to his cheek and closes his eyes. He leans into it with his head for more pressure. It reminded him of another place and another time. When there was less worry in the air and less death all around. The sound of Vistani's approach broke him out of his reverie.
"Thank you for returning Vistani." He hands Jil's hand back to her. "I am Larken and this is Jilwyn. We've been tasked, along with others, to remove the curse that is plaguing the world. So... what have you found for us?" He asks, getting right down to business. Food begins arriving just in time for Vistani to tell her tale.
"Yer not listening. I never said you were useless, so get those thoughts that I said things such as that outta yer head now. Dino mounts too for that matter. We only got 50 gold from Syndra, unless you and yer friends have a whole lot more you haven't informed us of?"
Kulan is very annoyed at Cor'avin's continued disagreement over something he has already clarified. He turns to Korine when Cor'avin goes into the back room. He decides to tell her that she missed some of the bird droppings, and then speaks of more important matters.
"Jilwyn Brightwood either uses the same perfume as Syndra, or she's also been struck down before, and raised back up. That much is very obvious. Worst case scenario, we find out about more money we can spend and he comes along in the morning with Cor'avin and one of us."

She looks at the food set before her and the aroma makes her stomach growl. She hadn't bothered to eat that overly sweet, sticky bun, but did finish the pastry she had ordered with the java. The snack had wore off with her running around town.
"Well, one is to be wary of the nature spirits."
She takes a bite of the food finding it quite tasty with some of her favorite seasonings found in this city. After taking her time chewing it and a look about the inn, she says, "I know other things of import to the city though not related to what you wanted. That seems to have nothing new to speak of on the streets. I'll tell you the things of import not related later because you should know." "Aye, I could sense the same about her. The way those people are starting to look already, you needn't be a paladin or priest to tell. That is very troubling."
She looks about the shop, and considers their needs compared to the coin they have to spend. "At least the girl seems to have plenty of connections here. That may help stretch the coin a bit, though not if she has thoughts of dinosaur mounts in her head." She chuckles at the thought. "I expect her friends are more serious than she is. Likely help keep her out of trouble. You don't need to keep on about it with her. She'll only get even more defensive and we do need to work with them, and each other."Maybe try not to look angry ALL the time, she thinks, but doesn't add out loud.
Larken nods. Not much information given, but he knows the value of someone with her skills. "Would you be interested in joining the expedition?" He asks. "We could use someone with your set of skills. As someone that can get information when we need it, you would be quite valuable. It'll be dangerous, but I notice you walk the streets armed. Have you explored the jungles at all since you've been here?"
Larken watches as she eats the spiced foods. His stomach hurts merely from the thought of consuming it. He'll be more than happy to eat a proper meal out in the jungle.
Jil picked at her food while Larken and Vistani talked. While she could hear them, she wasn't listening. She was deep in thought, mentally preparing for what was to come. Ritual tonight, she thought to herself. I'll leave the shrine, I have enough supplies to make a temporary shrine for myself in the jungle. I'll just need to figure out how to prevent myself from disturbing the others. At least I'll have some privacy tonight. One last night. She sighed to herself, still picking at the food in front of her.
