Flint greets Alaestra and lays out a list of the ingredients he needs. He says quietly to Ink "Ah'm seein' some changes about town, think we should look in on Darathra?"
"We should. Let's take care of the needed provisions first though," replies Ink.
"Did you notice the wizard's hold? Seems like he bought some official protection. Likely more stable than those gargoyles at least," Ink comments. "I'll be honest, not sure what came over me then - once we chased off those gargoyles, we should have backed off. Had we killed him then what? We'd be arrested ourselves."
"That weird grove still thinks it's autumn. Caught wind of it when we were landing. Didn't Marav want to go there? I forget why we convinced him not to visit. He said it was some Grove holy to rangers - perhaps we should pay our respects in his honor."
Once provisions have been made, Ink will head to the center tower to check in with Darathra, along with Flint and the others.
He'll let her know of Marav's fall, and Rip's decision to stay with his family after they were reunited, and Angel's departure.
He'll ask if she's heard of any strange tidings and whether or not he and Flint should expect to get arrested, after commenting on the wizard's increased security.
Alaestra at the Lion’s Share quickly goes about fulfilling Flint’s requests. The majority of the brewing supplies she acquires directly from Triboar’s Alchemist, home of the popular “sweetwater” beverage.
(I’m assuming you are sticking together as a group. Let me know if things are otherwise.)
Meanwhile, the Lord Protector Darathra is pleased tosee Ink and Flint again, and expresses her condolences at the news of Marav’s demise. “I’m glad to see you are still five strong, and still pursuing this giant menace. News of the Triboar Five has spread rapidly around these parts, lots of random rumors and stories flying about. I heard from a contact that you had acquired a flying ship, but I could hardly believe it until I saw it with my own eyes.
“As to the threat of arrest, I officially deputized you as a group so as to avoid any unpleasantries with the Twelve, so you needn’t worry. I know what it’s like to be an adventurer, so you have my sympathy, as well as my support for your actions here against the Fire Giants.
”I am still yet to establish a reliable channel with the Harpers, so my information is less than completely reliable, but I have heard a couple interesting bits of information. Apparently, there was an attempt not long ago to hunt down a red dragon in the Khedrun Valley. The entire party was wiped out by the red dragon, they say, and the only remaining member of the hunting party was a lone dwarf who made it all the way to Xantharl’s Keep, south of Mirabar, where he was recovering from his injuries. Just goes to show, you don’t mess with dragons. That was my motto as an adventurer.
“Also, the scuttlebutt out of Yartar is that one of the nobles there is actively seeking to supplant the Waterbaron. My sources didn’t have a name, but bribe money is being spent left and right there, in a targeted way.
“And the wizard...yes, Kolstaag hired himself some Zhent mercs, a few out of Daggerford, and others from Zhentil Keep. We’ve come to an accord, of sorts; he doesn’t want to be arrested for disturbing the peace, and so has dismissed his gargoyle protectors.”

"We know, or at least have heard of, the Dragon that this hunting party was after... It was, unwise of them to go after such an ancient beast. Still, we should speak to the survivor. Our airship has a benefactor that 7lives in the Khedrun Valley. Seems he appreciates our actions against the giants - so far," Ink replies.

"Hmm... Yartar," Ink muses, "We have a contact there, too. I wouldn't want him involved too much as he's laying low with his family, but perhaps he could find some information - or at least support your contact's efforts. Always worthwhile knowing who the money is in these situations."
Regarding Kolstaag, Ink says, "The gargoyles being gone are good for the town, but take care with those Zhents. Not only might they double cross Kolstaag, they may try to assert power over the whole town."
In the late afternoon while the sun is sinking, Ink, Flint, and the others find a fitting place to lay Marav’s bow. A gnarled conifer, an old yew tree, casts a long shadows deep in the grove the locals call Gwaeron’s Slumber. In the trunk of the yew is a small nook that seems shaped precisely for the broken longbow.
Crownsguard will kneel down, “I hope you enjoy peace, Marav. It is a nice feeling. I am sorry we could not locate your body. However, you do not really need a body now. The human phrase is ‘silver lining.’” He pats the bow.

Flint doesn't say anything but lingers a little longer than the others and busies himself with the details of the place, clearing the area of twigs and finding rocks to place around the base of the tree.
Ink noticing that Flint is starting to clean the area up, empties the contents of one of the shaman component pouches around the base of the tree. He addresses Flint, "Just introducing a little chaos - as Marav was wont to do."
Ink stands in silence for a bit before departing, leaving Flint to his work. Quill stays behind on a high branch of the tree, gently hooting on occasion.
The sun touches the horizon, just visible through the many branches around you. A slight breeze blows through the somber grove, and the branches here seem to bend together, as if to comfort you as you leave your companion’s broken bow at the base of the yew tree.
Hours later, aboard the ship and sailing north to Flint Rock, a strong wind picks up from the south, speeding you along your way in the freezing, starlit night. The cultists keep to themselves as usual, those few off duty playing dragon chess, and the ones currently crewing exchanging time in front of the brazing hot furnace to keep warm.
The sunrise comes late and red, shining with muted rays now upon the murky Evermoors. As you approach Flint Rock, a far-off sound—a roar?—is heard fleetingly before the wind sweeps it away, following you with dark clouds.
Below you is the spirit mound, situated atop a gnarly knob of flinty stone that’s shrouded in fog. Its rings, cairns, and altar mound are created from piles of heaped rock, barren of plant growth. The altar is a rectangular slab of stone 10 feet long, 6 feet wide, and 3 feet tall, its surfaces worn smooth. The enormous basin surrounding the altar mound is shaped like the silhouette of a leaping elk stag, the likeness plainly visible from the sky.
On the higher ground of the ring outside the basin, placed outward from the altar along the cardinal directions, are four huge, solid gray standing stones, similar to what you had found at Raven Rock.
The crew expertly maneuvers the ship to where the ladders drop down on either side of the worn stone altar. The four menhirs (standing stones) on each corner reach about the same length as the 50-foot ladders. They cast long shadows over the flinty rock, over the stone rings and cairns.
The wind whips the ladders around a little, but they are made more steady when you apply weight to them.
You see signs of life below as you climb down: a pair of elk foraging for moss; the bull and cow are about 200 feet or so west of the altar. They are alerted to your presence, but don't seem to be particularly bothered at the moment.

If we still have the broken bow, Ink will suggest leaving it in the rangers' grove.
Outside of that Ink doesn't want to stir up any trouble in Triboar... Whether on purpose or by accident.
