// If Don is intending to get a read on Sanra, that would be Wisdom (Insight) rather than Perception, but as it is, he can't detect any duplicity in her statements—more like desperation. //
"I have never seen anything like that...thing...before," Sanra says to Ink, after witnessing Flint's awesome healing powers. "Never in my life. You don't know what it was, either?"
Several minutes later, you arrive back at the scene of the short battle to find no sign of any bodies. The broken water bucket and sparse footprints in the snow are all that remain of any signs that there were a fight here.
Ink takes the broken water bucket, using his cloak to place it into the bag of holding.
Ink asks Sanra again, "I understand that you've never seen something like this before, but your husband - did he mention anything to you in passing that he found odd or dangerous? Anything about Brenner?"
"Regarding, squid tongue.... Likely some abberation of some kind. It was a caster of sorts to - but it didn't seem arcane in nature.... Perhaps some sort of religion or cult I've not heard of with a fascination with sea creatures, and apparently the elemental plane of water. We've run into cultists that worshipped an ancient air elemental titan... This might be similar."
//. Does it look like bodies were dragged away, picked up and carried, or got up on their own? Survival? 7
//. Does Quill from her vantage point see anything that could be a group of people hauling off bodies? Perception? 15
// Did we find any symbols or markers that looked like could represent a group, religion, among any of the people we fought, etc?
Sanra shrugs and shakes her head, looking around as if she can't believe the bodies are gone. As she speaks, she grows more frustrated. "I knew about Brenner. He was always a guard you could...y'know...count on being lenient. If properly motivated. I don't think I ever thought to mention him to Harthal. I...I don't know! Okay? I didn't see this coming, I didn't have any reason to suspect that Harthal was in danger, didn't know anything about whatever kind of conspiracy is going on here..."
As she talks, Sanra's feet suddenly give out from under her and she slips on icy ground, landing hard on the cobblestone with a surprised cry! You notice that the street is more slippery than before. She lay there for a moment, wincing in pain.
Quill doesn't see anybody lurking among the tight-packed buildings here. It's getting well towards deepnight, and it's cold.
There are guards on duty, but Flint’s previous connection will do the trick to get them in. Nestra Ruthiol is obviously a night owl, and is still in her daytime outfit when she receives you for a second time.
”I trust this is important? The hour is late and I have much still to do.” She fixes you with her shrewd stare.
"Lady Nestra, we've more information now than before. We got testimony that Zymorven is innocent, an ah can get th' truth t'morrow. Would ye grant a stay o' execution on me word ye'll know th' truth? We also got this..." Flint gestures to the body Crownsguard has been carrying and relates the attack.
Don steps forward, "It is true milady. There is something afoot in your city." He smiles, "Someone wants you to kill this boy, or he maybe just a pawn." He hesitates, "Could someone be trying to make you an enemy of Zymorven Hall?"
"This is all very confusing for all of us. We came to get a sword, but now we see something is wrong. All parties need to be questioned. With your leave, before the boy is put to the headmans axe we'd like to talk to all involved. Either I can get the truth out of them my way." he touches his daggers lightly. "But pained confessions are not reliable. The other option is our friend Flint I believe can cast a spell that will take care of the issue for compell them to tell the truth."
"I want to make sure you are safe and secure milady. After all when we are done with the whole mess with the giants I believe you and I have dinner plans."
Persuasion: 9 //Trying to get her to delay so we can question everyone involved//
Crownsguard considers, “I believe that the boat would be the better choice. The guard of the city has been compromised. This is one of the few situations where fanatical devotion to a dragon will provide a safer environment than a justice system.”
