If Griselda really wants the tentacle rod , I can give up my staff. Kevash is more of a nature Wizard, but a tad more tanky. So he can go to the front lines, but he will probably try to stay back for a bit. Who knows how things will develop though! It's just something cool that I thought appropriate for Kevash to have. Something handed down to him from the current clan Shaman to aid him on his adventures.
Oh I will research something and see if it is approved. Thanks Oddlot I am looking forward to this adventure as well.
As far as our characters knowing each other I may have been to see you a few times for some healing but not sure any of the others would have to much to do with a Dark Elf and quite a sneaky one at that. I will certainly buy the healing kit as well.
As far as the 500 gold that sounds great. Thanks I should definitely upgrade what gear I can with that.
Ok here is the list I would like to take one of it that's ok. I will put in order that I would like and let you chose. I think my weapons should be Rapier+1 and a normal one as well as a dagger +1
I'll allow the Cloak of Arachnida Lana. Sorry I missed the sheet link Ryvaeus. Browser's not letting me d/l it for some reason, I'll keep trying though. I'd like to give a little more time for anyone else that wants to join in. Then I'm probably going to write the intro to the adventure tomorrow morning, so we'll be starting soon :D
Forgot to ask before (or maybe I overlooked): How are we getting stats? Point Buy, Standard, or Rolls?

Characters:
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
Forgot to ask before (or maybe I overlooked): How are we getting stats? Point Buy, Standard, or Rolls?
Ridgeview mentioned it in the OP, he's okay with either point buy or standard array. I went with point buy myself.
Edit: Might as well list how I spent the allocated 500GP here, both for GM's approval and so I have a record of it somewhere before I can get to editing my character sheet.
Aside from my Barbarian and Pirate starting equipment, I'll purchase the following:
I figured Boresh coming across any of these items could be explained by his life at sea as a pirate. Maybe one of these was the only thing of value he could save after being raided by the corsairs who killed his crew and wrecked his ship.
Personality Traits: If someone is in trouble, I'm always ready to lend help. / I get bored easily. When am I going to get on with my destiny? Ideals: Destiny. Nothing and no one can steer me away from my higher calling. Bonds: I protect those who cannot protect themselves. Flaws: I'm convinced of the significance of my destiny, and blind to my shortcomings and the risk of failure. Background Feature (Inheritance): Tellan's "inheritance" is an old, indecipherable map that Riovar had showed her shortly before his possession and death. He had explained to her that, once he had deciphered it, he and Hellsbane would come out of retirement one last time, follow it to the deadly treasure it marked and properly seal it away for eternity. With Riovar dead and Hellsbane missing, Tell has taken this map as her charge and her ultimate goal. She's out to save the world from the dangers of ancient and wily magic, and surely it doesn't get more dangerous than... whatever this thing is. She'll figure it out when she gets there, probably.*
*This feature doesn't have any specific RP or mechanical benefit, as far as I can tell. It's mostly just backstory fluff. I wouldn't expect it to mean much in a published module like this.
Backstory/Introduction (spoilered for length):
You could call Tellan a treasure hunter, if you wanted to, although she'd probably call herself "treasure security". She's spent all three years of her adventuring career searching out the most potent magical items mentioned in myth and history, intending to ensure that they're in the safest hands possible: their original owners', maybe a good-aligned temple with a super-secret vault or hidden in the lair of a particularly security-conscious metallic dragon. And if none of those are an option, well. That's where her trusty maul comes in. That magic talking shield can't corrupt the king if it's been bashed into a crumpled sheet of tin foil, right? Damn right. (That's totally how it works.)
There's one magical item in particular that Tellan has her eyes on: the sentient greatsword Hellsbane, once the trusted weapon and companion of her village's local hero, the paladin Riovar the Righteous. That all changed when the demonic entity lurking within the blade, after many decades as one of Riovar's most trusted allies, took hold of the unsuspecting warrior and drove him to attack the village in a fit of blind abyssal rage. Riovar's own party had to take him down before he could hurt too many people, and Hellsbane vanished in the confusion. That incident, coupled with all the stories Riovar had told her of the deadly arcane weapons and contraptions he'd encountered over the years, convinced Tellan that old magic left to its own devices was not to be trusted. She took up the paladin's armor and shield, along with a suitably smashy maul, and swore an oath to find Hellsbane and any other powerful artifacts that might be left unguarded or unchecked. She'd make sure they were properly taken care of (or, y'know, smashed), save misguided heroes like Riovar from themselves, and save everyone else from these objects' malign influence, or from someone accidentally flipping a switch on a mechanical murderdragon or something.
So yeah, she hunts down magical items to protect or to smash. How many has she saved so far, you ask? Oh, lots... I mean, more than a few, certainly, like... several, sort of... one or two... uh. Okay, okay, you got her. Tellan has seen precisely zero dangerous artifacts in three years of traveling. The trouble with growing up in an elven village listening to long-lived heroes tell their favorite stories is that a kid gets a distorted sense of just how much time elapsed between all those adventures. Based on all the tales Riovar told, Tellan figured she'd be neck-deep in exploding axes and mind-controlling crystal balls every other week. But nope. Nothing. Nada. Zip, zilch, zero, cockatrice eggs. The only magical items she's encountered so far have been simple enchanted tools or slightly-more-accurate arrows or whatever—nothing that's going to raze a kingdom if she doesn't reduce it to splinters first. She hasn't met any friendly gold dragons who can stash all the treasure she hasn't found. And it turns out she's not so great at tracking that dang Hellsbane sword, either. This is taking forever.
All in all, Tellan's first three years of searching haven't amounted to much. She is getting to experience all the traveling and monster slaying and saving of hapless villages that Riovar waxed lyrical about, and that's been pretty great, but it's not what Tellan belives she was really called to do, and she's bored out of her skull. So when she got word that three powerful weapons had been appropriated from their rightful owners, she was all over that like goblin brains all over the ground when you smash them with a hammer. Here, at last, was a chance to do some good, keep horrible dark magics from enslaving the countryside (or whatever these weapons do, she's not sure, she wasn't really listening), and get some practice in for whenever she comes face to face with Hellsbane. This is her chance to start succeeding where poor Riovar failed. Time to get out there and put a couple dents in some exploding axes! Or, uh, return them to their owners. The clients would probably prefer that. They might not pay her group if the axes have dents in them. Whichever, really, as long as they're taken care of. And then Hellsbane, here she comes.
(That's totally how it works. Just put dents in 'em! Dealing with all this magical stuff is gonna be just that easy. This is gonna be great. Damn right.)
Full character sheet is here. (Hopefully final, although part of me still wants to try dueling fighting style/using a shield... I'll finalize it by the time I add my magic item, though.)
Let me know if I've forgotten something!
I'll take a look through some simple magic items as soon as this is posted. Also, as far as the starting 500 gold goes: Do you want us to spend that now, to buy whatever equipment upgrades, supplies, etc. we want ahead of time, or are we going to have a brief shopping jaunt before we head into the dungeon? If it's the former, I'll update the sheet with my purchases as soon as I can, too!
EDIT: Okay, I looked through some magical items and I have no idea where to start (I've never played a paladin before I don't know how anything works aaaaa), but these looked useful enough and hopefully aren't too swingy. In descending order of preference, pick whichever you feel is fair:
Kept the choices mostly simple, nothing Tell would look at and mistake for something she ought to be putting dents in. It's probably not unreasonable that whatever she has originally belonged to Riovar, so that's most likely where she got it.
Thanks, characters added. I'll give the amulet of health to Boresh and Mithril Armor to Tellan. Switched forum tag to public for now, in case there are any stragglers that still want to jump in.

"Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." -Henry David Thoreau
You've just arrived at the city-state, eager for a brief respite from your last adventure. The city bustles with the activity of merchants and crafters. Shrines to various deities are interspersed among storefronts and taverns. You see its mostly inhabited by humans, but an occasional halfling or gnome scurries by as you make your way through the busy streets. You find your way to the River Quarter, home of the famed Green Dragon Inn. You're just about to enter, when you come across an intriguing flier pinned to the job board next to the entrance.
The flier calls for adventurers to help recover three stolen weapons of great value. The meeting place is written at the bottom of the paper for those interested. Most importantly, it states that those who recover the weapons will receive anything they want if in the owners' power to grant. After some discussion (if you're with others) a consensus is reached to take up the offer. You follow the directions to the wealthy High Quarter where an elaborate mansion awaits. You are welcomed inside by a servant, who escorts you to a parlor. You're relieved to see it is stocked with free refreshments for the guests. An impressive brunch has been laid out consisting of hot buttered scones, juice, tea and other assorted breakfast/lunch fare. Brief introductions are made between you, the other adventurers and three nobles, each owning one of the stolen weapons.
The owners and their weapons are as follows:
Half-Elf Lady Naesala: Owns the trident Wave, a three pronged pole weapon made of cobalt blue steel. The lady wears nautical themed jewelry and clothing.
Dwarf Lord Thralgrock: Owns the hammer Whelm. A single handed blunt weapon suitable for throwing if necessary. It is of Dwarven make and has the intricate craftsmanship to show for it. It consists of polished silver, studded with gems and its handle is wrapped in brown patent leather. The dwarf has the look of a hardened adventurer, but is in his advanced years and likely retired. He sits on a rocking chair and his sullen eyes dart from side to side cautiously.
Human Lord Jaspar: Owns the long sword Blackrazor. An all black sword that shines like a star filled sky. Its sheathed in a black scabbard decorated with pieces of black obsidian. Jaspar has a thin physique and is fine featured. He leans against the wall, arms folded. Is expression is understandably perturbed, given the situation.
When pressed for details, the nobles have little to offer. Each one received a mysterious note left in their homes in the middle of the night. Contents of the note:
Search ye far or search ye near. You’ll find no trace of the three Unless you follow instructions clear. For the weapons abide with me.
North past forest, farm and furrow. You must go to the feathered mound. Then down away from the sun you’ll burrow. Forget life, forget light, forget sound.
To rescue Wave, you must do battle With the Beast in the Boiling Bubble. Crost cavern vast, where chain-links rattle Lies Whelm, past water-spouts double.
Blackrazor yet remains to be won Underneath inverted ziggurat. That garnered, think not that you’re done. For now you’ll find you are caught.
I care not, former owners brave What heroes you seek to hire. Though mighty, I’II make each one my slave Or send him to the fire.
One of the cleverer nobles ascertained that the feathered mound in the note undoubtedly refers to White Plume Mountain, located just outside the city limits, and usually avoided as a haunted place. Those who have strayed to close to it have disappeared. Since that is the likeliest place the weapons could be, they urge you to travel there as soon as possible.
There is one other curious thing they can tell the party: Keraptis was last seen at White Plume Mountain fifteen hundred years ago and never returned. No one thinks he could be alive after so long, and that the note's writer must be posing as the late eccentric wizard.
Convinced you have all the information you need to start, you make your final preparations and head out to the mountain.
White Plume Mountain
High Noon
The party makes its way to the summit without incident. However, the stories surrounding the site and the eerie silence may put you ill at ease. You make your way to the center of the mountaintop, looking for any obvious entry point into its depths. You cut through a swath of overgrowth, eventually stumbling upon what you were looking for: a stone spiral staircase carved into the rock.
It seems there's nothing left to do but make your final preparations, discuss a plan and decide who's brave enough to enter first...
OOC: Leaving it here for character intros, interactions, plans, etc. I'll check in till about 10am EST. Will plan to be back on around 8pm EST. Hope no one minds if I skipped over the meeting with the nobles. They don't know much more than the party does, so pressing them for more info wouldn't achieve much. I elaborated on that part myself, as the module is kind of vague in keeping with the way early D&D modules were written.

"Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake." -Henry David Thoreau
OOC: So before I post the intro, I just want to confirm that Kevash was able to make his preparations for the journey. Mainly just purchases. They are all common and in the Adventuring Gear section of the PHB.
The hike was hardly difficult, yet Boresh's breath is short and labored - not due to the excursion, but out of superstitious anxiety. Big and burly Boresh may be, but no amount of strength behind the sword would vanquish a ghost, spirit, or other incorporeal foe.
Still, the half-orc had a face to put on, so he steeled his resolve and turned to his companions with his hand on the hunting horn tied round his waist, and as much a grin as his square-jawed, fang-toothed face could contort into (a look he's undoubtedly had to practice).
"Looks like we're first to arrive," he says, breaking the silence. "I'm all for goin' ahead and gettin' this over with, but it wouldn't be fair for us to do all the work 'afore the rest of the party shows up."
OOC Edit: Left this open-ended as to who else is actually around, as I dunno if everyone who's pledged to join this RP will actually reply in-character in time for GM to push forward with the module.
Kevash grunted with effort climbing up the mountain. He was no weakling, mind you, but he hated mountains and hated climbing them. Everything is just too 'up'. Not enough 'down'. Forests he could tolerate. They were a lot like his swamp, after all. Mountains had woods and forests, but they are just hilly impostors. Kevash turned to his friend and saw the somewhat pained smile. He nodded and clapped the half-orc on the shoulder "Do not worry. I hate mountains too" he said, giving what he thought would be comfort.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The young Drow moved her way up the mountain with ease as the terrain was not much different than the Underdark except for the bright sun during the day. The daytime was still her hardest to travel through though she had adjusted over the past decade it still bothered her some. Her long flowing white hair peeked out from under the cowl of her cloak. Her body hidden under fine leather armor with two seeming matching Rapiers at her side. A closer look and you can see a finely carved dagger on her hip and one coming out of her boot. Her eyes a pink hue as she looks around at the others arrived before her. "I can check and see if there are any traps at the entrance if need me to?" she speaks quietly but confidently.
The friendly gesture was enough to calm Boresh, and his slightly forced smile relaxed into a more genuine expression. Recognizing that the excursion probably proved more difficult for some of the others in the group, he sits down close to the cave entrance. "Might as well rest up while we can. Wouldn't want to be caught out of breath in the middle of a fight. Not like that alligator incident, eh Kevash?" He chuckles at the memory. "Aye, remind me never again to march into a gator-infested swamp on an empty stomach."
He wouldn't have seen the drow had she not spoke up. "Ach, aren't you a sneaky one! Kiellie, right? I hardly even noticed you were there, and here you are already scouting ahead. Looks like I'm not the only one eager to finish the job."
Boresh passes the time by sharpening his greataxe. While doing so, he begins singing a sea shanty he once heard back on the deck of the Baleful Boar, the bassy baritone of his voice softly rumbling in beat with the scraping of whetstone against steel.
OOC: LanaTay, I took a peek at your character sheet from the link you shared back in page 2 (mainly to find out his/her name, as I couldn't see it mentioned in the posts and the intro presumes we'd all already met at the nobles' estate anyway). Is your character really only leveled up to 3 right now? I believe the GM advised us to go up to 5 :)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kevash stroked his chin as he thought back to the trial. "The giant alligator was most formidable! Still, the hardest challenges bring the greatest victories...and trophies" he said, gesturing to his various alligator-harvested vestments. His favorite by far was the scimitar fashioned from jawbone of that giant alligator.
He turned to the Drow who was already busy sizing up the entrance to the dungeon. " Dark one, allow me to assist with a blessing" Kevash said, breaking into a short chant for Kiellie. It was spoken in primordial and oddly synced up to the shanty being sung by Boresh.
How about the amulet of health for now? The staff looks like a pretty good way to boost the party's damage output without needing the tentacle rod.

If Griselda really wants the tentacle rod , I can give up my staff. Kevash is more of a nature Wizard, but a tad more tanky. Really looking forward to this! I so rarely get to play in a game these days. Usually I'm the one DMing.
Forgot to ask before (or maybe I overlooked): How are we getting stats? Point Buy, Standard, or Rolls?
Characters:
Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser
Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale
Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
Total cost of these is 491GP.
As for my magical item, I was hoping to receive any one of the following (GM's choice, in decreasing order of personal preference):
I figured Boresh coming across any of these items could be explained by his life at sea as a pirate. Maybe one of these was the only thing of value he could save after being raided by the corsairs who killed his crew and wrecked his ship.
Whew! Okay. Sorry for the delay; hope there's still room in the party! Let's see if I've got this right:
Full character sheet is here. (Hopefully final, although part of me still wants to try dueling fighting style/using a shield... I'll finalize it by the time I add my magic item, though.)

Mithral Armor (plate, or splint if that's too expensive)
Boots of Elvenkind
Ring of Protection (or Cloak of Protection)
Stone of Good Luck (Luckstone)
Ring of Free Action
Sentinel Shield (really only considering this if I do switch to dueling style)
Kept the choices mostly simple, nothing Tell would look at and mistake for something she ought to be putting dents in. It's probably not unreasonable that whatever she has originally belonged to Riovar, so that's most likely where she got it.
