I was detained and could not make the meeting, I was told the direction you headed off in and had to track you down. I hope no one has been hurt do to my tardiness.
"Your tardiness has had no ill effect. We encountered two giant rats but they were overcome by a single blow to each. Now, we must continue. The Sunless Citadel awaits."
Gavin looks about the area, watching for any movement or sign of danger. This abandoned place may not be as abandoned as it seems.
Gavin, you see that the courtyard is a proverbial dump. It is positively filled with debris from the initial collapse and ages and ages of disrepair. There is no clear or clean path to the door of the tower and moving through the mess will be quite difficult, but do-able with enough time. It is difficult to see a lot in clear detail. The most light you get is quite dim even in the brightest areas. The rest is covered in shadows cast down from high on the ravine. The only light available here is whatever you bring with you.
Barnos, with you keen eyes you see that there is a space before the tower door that appears to be somewhat less junk-filled than the rest of the courtyard. It is about a 10ft area. Something has clearly moved stuff away from the entrance. You also occasionally here the settling of clutter and debris following feint skittering of things that call this mess home (possibly more giant rats).
Great job, Barnos. You deftly navigate the field with your nimbleness. With your movement, you feel you can make your way directly up to the door to the tower if you wanted to.
Once i reach the door i will put the torch down (not out) put away the short sword and cover everyone else with my longbow until the rest of the party gets to the door.
Barnos, as you approach the door, you reach the rough clearing. Setting foot in the perimeter of it, you hear a distinct click! The floor gives way and swings open straight down. You fall 10 feet into a pit and land prone (Oh no!). With your torch, you can clearly see the remains of some long forgotten goblin in the opposite corner. It's being munched on by a Giant Rat! You surprise each other, but the rat is poised to claim some fresh meat and intends to attack. Make an Initiative roll to see who gets the drop first!
(Also, feel free to go ahead and let me know what you'd like to do during your turn in initiative)
(The rest of the party hasn't posted anything in a while. So we are just going to move on. I haven't heard anything from Alos or Dashing all week. Plus another player (the monk) hasn't posted at all. We still have Wynn though)
You've definitely seen all there is to be seen just at this entryway. All that's left is to make your way through the debris field (requiring a Dexterity(Acrobatics) check) and maybe help Barnos out of the pit trap.
Gavin, in an attempt to navigate the field as deftly as Barnos, you set right out! Unfortunately, you barely make any distance at all. Your feet keep sinking into the rubble and getting caught on bits of debris. Then you watch Barnos fall from site! You can make another Acrobatic check to attempt to make up some time and distance.
Barnos, the rat gets the drop you (uh oh!). It leaps forward and makes a bite attack! It's large sharp teeth just manage to find purchase, dealing 4 points of piercing damage.
You swing at the creature, but you miss! The rat is hungry for something fresh and in a fit!
Seizing the opening from your attack, it takes another bite. This time you're ready and shove the creature off before its teeth sink in! Barnos, you may attempt another attack.
(Also, if you are using two light melee weapons, you can use your bonus action to make an extra attack! So if you want, you can make two attacks this turn)
EDIT: Typo for damage. Removed the 1. So 4 damage and not 14

Following Gavin I would like to check the area for any other signs of recent passage

Lighting a torch and making ready a short sword I proceed toward the door, Barnos quietly mutters We are not alone ,
Barnos, the way is quite treacherous! Make a Dexterity(Acrobatics) check to keep your footing along the way.

OOC: Sorry, I didn't word that quite how I meant it. What I meant was where I am and if I saw Barnos fall.
Gavin will try to get to Barnos. He is pretty sure that he can easily get past the rubble.
Acrobatics: 8
OOC: Oh no problem
