Cedrik sees Brugo and Hardi taking on their goblin. He doesn't think it stands a chance. He then decides to join in on the fun and chase after the fleeing goblin. As he runs, he realizes that it might have allies or a hideout nearby. He decides to take it out so he doesn't have to find out.
Wait, dragon man, I will be much more capable of following this thing without being seen, give me 10 min then follow, I will mark the way.
with that Kyle slips into the trees and follows after in stealth. Kyle examines the trail as he goes hoping to glean some use of the trail. After the ten minutes he puts an arrow on the ground with the head in the direction of travel.
OOG: Using natural explorer to stealth full speed and figure out trail use. If you need a roll let me know. :)
75 XP for each character. Well done, great role-playing!
Kyle, from your perception check, this is what you discern:
The inspection of the area, and the trail, reveals that the goblins have been using this particular area to stage ambushes for some time. The thickets part and you find the trail the goblin was fleeing on - it leads northwest, opposite of Phandalin. Also, you can tell two large bodies have been dragged along this path.
At this point, you guys can continue to Phandalin, OR follow the trail northwest and see where it leads. If you wish to explore the trail, the cart and oxen can easily be tied off the road while you all explore. If you do choose to explore, please let me know what the marching order will be.
"We make a pretty good team, eh?" He says to Brugo. "Me n'you should do that more often!" Hardi igives the monk a quick, but firm handshake, retrieves his shield, and returns to the cart. After hefting himself back up, ushers the horse past Kyle and comes to a stop again. "If we're gonna be corralling more'a these little fellas, we best be hidin' the cart somewheres, ya know?"
Hardi will make a roll (perception?) to see if any place nearby seems suitable for stashing the goods in the mean time.
Kriv groans "Gold is gold, we're not being paid to kill these creatures unless they attack us first. But I guess these goblins could have something of value."
He helps Hardi hid the cart grabbing fallen branches and brush covering the cart where he can. After he grabs his bag from the cart and stands by Kyle
((OOC Where there any bounties for goblins in the area?))
Kyle, the rolls you made were good enough to discern that it APPEARS to be goblin footmarks, with human sized size "drag" tracks. Other than the fact that it appears this particular immediate area looks like a worn ambush spot the goblins must be using to surprise caravans, that's all you can tell. But...isn't this Gundren and Sildars horses....?
Hardi, you find a decent spot to tie up the oxen and make the carts look hidden. Anyone not actively looking won't notice the cart for a bit.
After a moment you realize it almost appears as if the forest is beckoning you to enter it. Taunting you, almost. Like a dare. But you shake it off. It's probably nerves, or the adrenaline from the goblin fight playing tricks on you.
And no. No goblin bounties that you know of, Kriv. =)
"We can't just leave'em to do this to others either! Who knows how many they've mugged before us, ya know?" Hardi rests the head of his hammer over his shoulder. "I'm gonna put a stop to this little wingdangdoodle they've got going on here" Henods at the cart, satisfied with its concealment. "Oh and thanks for the help, by the way" He gives Kriv a sturdy clap on the back.

Cedrik's firebolt hit reduces the fleeing goblin to a pile of cinders. Nice shot!
Kyle i'll need a PERCEPTION check, please, as you chase the now dead goblin and head into the forest.
OOC: Woohoo! Is Brugo and Hardi's goblin dead?
OOG: ok, cool, will do, didn't realize where that shot was going though...

Not yet, my friend =) but he's got a big bruise welling up on his face from that kick. Lets see who gets the killing blow.
You're absolutely right. I totally missed that, my bad!! Sorry - lots to read and keep track of.
Kyle I will have your perception results up shortly.
END OF COMBAT.

I will be going down that trail these horses, riders need my help I would say... you have 2 minutes then I go.
He then goes to check the corpses of the horses closely, to get an idea of who their riders might have been.
Kyle, it's hard to tell. But the horses do, somewhat, look...familiar....
Kyle mutters to anyone listening.
I think these horses are familiar.
Kyle looks around for more evidence for what happened and who was involved.
investigation: 17
edit: i think there is another +3 on top...
"familiar how? All horses look the same to me. Come on let's get going we have a schedule to keep."
no, we have people to save and goblins to hunt. Now if anyone else cares about more than their next paycheck, fellow me.
Kyle then heads down the trail.
"We make a pretty good team, eh?" He says to Brugo. "Me n'you should do that more often!" Hardi igives the monk a quick, but firm handshake, retrieves his shield, and returns to the cart. If you brave souls DO wish to head up the goblin trail, don't forget to establish a marching order.
