I've been prepping to run a one-shot for my family in RL and decided I'd try to run it in PbP as well. It's based on Matt Colville's Tomb of the Delian Order One-Shot. (Please don't look at those particular videos if you want to play)
Here's what I'm looking for:
Brand new players who have been watching videos, listening to podcasts, reading blogs, etc, related to D&D and are now excited to give it a shot for the first time. I would expect you to have done some basic research to know how to play, but anything you don't know we'll figure out together because I'm fairly new as well. If you have played more than once or twice before I'd respectfully ask you to let the brand new folks have this one.
Be able to post Once per Day MINIMUM.
Basic races only (nothing more exotic than Dragonborn). Any regular class is fine.
Overly flowery prose is not required. In fact, you might even say it's frowned upon. We don't need to read 2 paragraphs about the wind flowing through your hair. Not to say you can't get descriptive in your RP, just don't overdo it.
Proper spelling and grammar IS required! Sorry, personal pet peeve of mine. If you use certain words (such as: your, you're, their, there and they're) incorrectly I will give you disadvantage on all of your rolls in the next combat. (Not really, but still...)
Standard Array, no need to worry too much about items, I'll assume everyone has food and the basics, etc. Starting at level 1. I'd suggest finding a pregenerated character sheet and tweaking it for what you would like to play.
Looking for 4-5 players. Post your request and what race/class you want to play in this thread.
I'd like to join this if I can. My character's name is Inlorys. She's a level 1 tiefling ranger. I don't know if tieflings count as more exotic than dragonborn or not.
Pretty sure it doesn't count as "regular," but any room for a Mystic? Soul knife or maybe an Awakened with Restoration to act as a healer?
If not I could run up a quick sorcerer or warlock to contribute some caster-action. I generally DM and would relish being able to play a low-stress once-a-day sort of game.

Jacob Bray - The Call of Lon-Dia, Human Bloodhunter 3
I'd like to join. I've played Pathfinder, but I've barely played DnD.(Never tried PbP.). I've been wanting to try something different and I'm interested in playing a Halfling Druid. ( I understand if you pass me over though.)
Ok, I think we have enough players for now but I don't know how to change the thread from Recruiting. I'll be PMing each of you to send me your character sheets. Thanks all!
(The Young Buck Tavern in the town of Calla is a place like many others. On this early evening, the Tavern is only about half full of your usual tradesmen, farmers and assorted other townspeople. Everyone is drinking and eating and generally having a good time. A young Half-Elf serving boy, Jack, floats around bringing everyone their food and ale.
The door opens and a young man enters. He appears to be a fighter of some sort, a rapier sheathed across his back. The young man looks around, finds the table they are looking for and walks over to the table where a motley crew of adventurers sit, staring at him intently as he silently pulls up a chair and takes a seat. The table has a sign on it that reads ‘1st time adventurers meet here’.)
"Ah, splendid! It looks like you all made it!"
(The tavern owner, a rotund and jolly-looking fellow of about 40, appears at the side of the table, smiling and holding what appears to be an envelope.)
"My name is Willfred, I am the owner of this fine establishment. Glad you all could make it. Your mutual friend has asked me to read this to you when you all arrived."
(He now opens it and takes out the enclosed letter. Unfolding it, he begins to read.)
Greetings, adventurers!
It is I, Craig, your friendly neighborhood shop keeper! You are all here because you all expressed interest in teaming up with other like-minded folks and going on adventures. I had all of your names on my LIST and I think all of you would be a good fit together. I hope I am correct. Take some time to get to know each other; I’m sure you’ll all become fast friends. Go forth and make your mark on the world!
Best of Luck!
Craig
(The 6 assembled adventurers look around the table at each other. Willfred takes a little bow as he backs away.)
"Oh, this IS a good-looking group. You'll do well, very well indeed. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you."
(The crew looks each other over and sits for a few moments, until one of them rises up and begins to speak...)
DM's Notes: Ok, folks, go ahead and introduce your character to each other and give a brief description about your appearance, etc. No need to give your whole backstory, just introduce your character as they would introduce themselves. Looking forward to this! :)
Lena peers over her food at the other members of what is to be her team as they look around. With a sigh, the halfling climbs up to stand in her chair trying to make herself as big as possible, before clearing her throat.
"Um, Excuse me!"
She calls out to the group, flinching a bit when all eyes immediately snap to her. For a moment, she wonders how strange she may look. A tiny halfling decked out in leather armor, large spear slung on her back, bits of mistletoe sticking out of her short brown hair, standing on a chair, and addressing this much larger group of much larger people.
"My name is Lena Tealeaf of the High Mountain clan. I specialize in druidic magic, healing, and I like to think I'm a very good listener. If you need any healing done I'd be happy to assist. I also have a wide knowledge of magic and nature so I'm always free to answer any questions you may have about those topics. With that said, I look forward to traveling with you all and I hope we can become good friends."
Lena then bows to the group and sits back down in her chair.
Sitting in the corner, a purple skinned tiefling pokes his head up from his tattered robes and looks around. He reluctantly stands to address the table while absentmindedly playing with the frayed ends of his sleeves.
“Um, my name is Carxus. Uh, this is my first job since leaving sanctuary... I hope no one dies.”
He quickly sits back down and sinks into his robes. No one is sure if the reddish hue of his scaly cheeks are from his draconic ancestry or his embarrassment.
Inlorys looks at the odd assortment of adventurers that surround the table and reaches a hand up to brush back a dreadlock that had fallen in front of her horns. Standing, she's about six feet tall, but the horns add at least another foot, which makes her seem taller still. Two pure white eyes stare out of a dark brown face as she looks at the others. She gives a small smile and little wave to those assembled. "I'm Inlorys. Or Lorys. Whichever." She feels as though she should say something else and adds, "Good to meet you all."
The small movements rattle her two back scabbards and she readjusts them. Useful as they are, they do make sitting in a chair difficult at best. Her longbow and quiver are already slung around the back of the chair. Her long, muscled tail is wrapped loosely around them, partly to keep them from falling off and partly to dissuade any of the tavern's patrons from trying to pinch her arrows. It doesn't really seem like the sort of place where she needs to be worried about that, but Lorys sees no need to be complacent.
"Nikta." the man in the dark clothing says in a muffled voice through a scarf wrapped tightly around the lower half of his face, and down over his shoulders. "Nothing for me thanks," he says to Gerard. "not much of a drinker. I'm here to work on some trust issues. Try to get used to playing nicely with others. Be patient with me."
He's monochromatic, in head-to-toe black, charcoal, or otherwise greyscale - with pale almost ashen skin, dark shortish unkempt hair, and black eyes. From under the scarf a web of dark scars peeks out into his cheeks, and he seems to keep his head down to keep his hair obscuring them. A dark backpack is slung over the back of his seat, with a crossbow and quarterstaff hitched to it.

Jacob Bray - The Call of Lon-Dia, Human Bloodhunter 3
(Jack the serving boy nimbly circles the table, dropping off a pint of ale in front of each of party except for Nikita. As he passes near Gerard the young noble absentmindedly reaches into his fine-looking pouch and drops 1gp onto his tray.)
"Keep the change, kid."
(Jack's eyes grow wide with gratitude. Big tips like this are not common in a place like Calla.)
"Th-thank you, my lord."
(The young Half Elf bows to his benefactor as he backs towards the bar. The attention of the party soon returns to the young Wood Elf who has yet to introduce himself.)
Off by the bar is an elven woman with brown hair and bright green eyes. She's thin, attractive, and fit - she's graceful and has been in quite a few fights. You can tell. Don't ask me how. A couple of shortswords dangle from a holster, and she's wearing a tight studded leather outfit with a cloak - almost looks like an old uniform.
She appears to have a small crowd of people around her, listening to outrageous tales of the criminal scum she's bribed, fooled, killed, coerced, and swindled.
"So, my partner and I were driving the cart, on this wild goose chase, and then I asked, 'hey if you run over a mime would he make a sound?' Well, turns out they- OH HEY GUYS!" She waves warmly to the adventuring party after noticing where they are.
She pops down another shot of whiskey before continuing her story...
