"Honestly, we don't know if anything weird is happening. The goblin raid has crippled us enough that we have been stuck in Greenwood, doing repairs, treating the wounded, training new guards, that sort of thing. The goblins haven't been back since that attack, but I couldn't tell you where they went, besides that they all left in one direction, and you can easily see their path heading out of town." Nighthawk sighs and sits back down. "I will glad help you all in any way I can, but I really don't know much beyond what I've told you."
Crispy gives a saucy wink. "Alrighty! Sounds good!"
She nods her head and walks back outside. Taking in the sun, she looks around. They'll be back. Her hand reflexively touching her short sword holster. Wondering if the monsters left tracks, Greenwood said they came from "one direction" - wondering where they'd strike next. Secretly itching for a fight - a chance to slice open some scum.
"I'd say 30 were in the attack on Greenwood, but we managed to cut down most of them. No kenku or kobolds attacked us, I only have heard from other villages that they have been attacked by those creatures. The goblins we fought weren't terribly good fighters, and I don't actually believe they killed any of our townspeople, just injured a number of them."

Letting the others do most of the talking, Evelyn leans against the wall near the door, her arms crossed over her chest. She focuses in on the conversation, humming to herself as she picks out bits of details she thinks might be important. What creatures attacked the village, how many there were, how well they fought, and quickly stores the information away for later.
"Is anything missing? Did they take anything important during this attack or did they seem to be attacking certain places?" As she ask these questions she begin to think back to her teaching, trying to remember if goblins came up at all. 'The more I know about these creatures the easier it will be to hunt them.' She thinks.
For DM:
I want to see if Evelyn knows anything about goblins. I think its either a Nature check or just Intelligence so I'll just roll once for both, but if its not one of them let me know and I'll roll again for whatever it is.
"No, they didn't take anything, we had everyone do a thorough check of their belongings. They honestly seemed like they were just trying to cause mayhem."
Evelyn, from the bit that you know about goblins you know that they generally are incredibly greedy. It seems incredibly weird to you that they would attack for any reason other than to pillage the town. (I went with Nature, it made sense so I took the better roll)
"Alrighty then. If that's all you know Governor, then I'd rather not waste more time then I need to by repeating questions." She moves toward the door, waving back to the other two.
"You can stay here a keep chatting if you too want, but I'm going to get started on tracking those goblins. You know the old phrase 'the sooner, the better'." She exits the room and makes her way outside to where the elven woman, Crispy, is waiting. She stands there for second observing her, before snapping her fingers to get Crispy's attention.
"Excited are we?" She says, giving the elf a playful smirk before continuing. "You know, Crispy. It's typically better to wait until you have all the answers before running off. Keeps one from falling victim to all sorts of nasty surprises."
Crispy smirks at her new friend as she unfocuses - and points to her elven ears. "Don't you worry, sweet cheeks, I got it all. Oh, and i've got two nasty surprises right HERE.." She pats her short swords, lovingly.
"Lets get this show on the road, eh? " Crispy nudges Evelyn, eager to solve a mystery. "Let go!" She called out the people the house.
30 goblins, but no fatalities. Brunella thinks. Something is wrong. Goblins don't hesitate to kill when they can, and these villagers are about as easy prey as you can get.
She walks outside, and takes a look at the road the goblins took, seeing what tracks she can make out.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Crispy will ask the villagers if they saw anything unusual, asking about what they saw, noting any details she can. She stays close to the group, though, while she investigates. Maybe one of these people know something. Anything.
Brunella, you see a path of trampled grass leading from Greenwood over a nearby hill, and into a forest nearby to the east. It almost seems like all of the goblins just ran off at one point down this exact path.
Crispy, you oversee a man bragging loudly outside of the local tavern, the Hangman's Brew. You hear him saying that he personally killed 10 goblins before an old, half drunk man interrupts him and says "Back in my days, goblins actually fought well! These goblins were more concerned with knocking people on their bums and smashing crates than actually fighting you!" The bragging man then sits down and you hear him mumbling before downing an ale. Then you hear the old man say, "They don't make heroes like they used to."
"Goblins attack a village, leave many injured, burn down several buildings, but then that's it. Not one death, or even an attempt to kidnap someone. They didn't even attempt to steal anything when they left. Now if there's one thing I know about goblins is that they're greedy little bastards, they'll take anything they a get their grubby little hands on. For an attack like this to have no obvious motive behind it, well it just doesn't makes sense." She kneels down besides Brunella.
"While I can think of a few answers, I don't like the thought of any of them." She continues, turning her attention to the dwarf. "Brunella do you see anything?"
"Yes, Evelyn, something is very wrong. Goblins do not hesitate to kill when they have the chance. A town of old men and drunks would have been no challenge for a band of goblins, much less thirty. We should have come to a bloodbath.
"Either people here are lying to us about what happened, or the goblins intentionally went easy on them. Perhaps it is a trap to lure us? I don't know. Perhaps they were paid? Are the villagers lying? I am not good at speaking with people to find out this kind of thing. Are you?"
Brunella then points to the trampled grass. "They went this way, and made no attempt at hiding it. We can follow them, or talk more with people here."
OOC: Brunella is neither thematically nor mechanically good at detective work, but perhaps one of the other PCs is? It might be a good idea to talk to villagers to see what kind of attack this was. It seems like 30 goblins should have razed the village to the ground. Were the goblins holding back, or perhaps we are being lied to?

Crispy looks around the town to see if anything else pops out, any reason that would shed any light on the situation.. Any other clues that might explain something.
"Sadly, no. My appearance is usually quiet unsettling to most people and I always seem to be lacking in most form of social skills." Evelyn sighs, running a hand through her hair.
"Though I suppose it wouldn't really hurt to try and ask around if you think it will help." Evelyn makes her way to the nearest group of people and begins asking about the goblin attack.

The Tiefling flashes a smile as they find the beaten path. "Sounds like we've got some hunting to do! I'm with you, Brunella." With that, he brings his large black bow to bear, readying a few arrows. Zarrakir keeps to the back of the group and scans the area for an ambush. Afterall, what's more perfect to lure people in than an obvious path? It'd be too easy!
Evelyn, you find nothing out that you guys have not already heard. It seems that the town is as clueless as you guys are. Zarrakir, you see a sudden blur of motion dart out at you from a nearby bush (Xero, Please make a Dexterity Saving Throw)

"None of this makes sense.." Crispy thinks to herself. "That's not how goblins behave. Something is strange.."
Crispy takes mental notes, then joins with the rest of the group.
