Upon his birth, Roald's mother willingly sacrificed herself in a ritual ceremony to Bane, the Black Lord in an attempt to imbue her child with the essence of the evil god. The Cult of the Black Hand, in turn, was to raise Roald as the Avatar of Bane, and did so until his 7th birthday; at which point Knights of Torm found, and executed, all willing members of the cult. Children like Roald were taken and given to the care of priests of Torm in an attempt to reeducate them. Roald resisted the priest's teachings for years before finally understanding that Bane's followers did not care about him because he was their family, but only because he was supposed to be a mortal representation of their good; even then, however, Roald could not completely rid himself of the resentment he felt at being taken from the only thing he'd known by followers of Torm. And, so, when he reached adulthood, and was allowed to leave, he did so. He wandered from town to town, for years, looking for purpose until being approached by a disciple of Hoar, who sung to Roald psalms of retribution and preached of justice for the wronged. It was this meeting that influenced Roald to pick up the sword in the name of vengeance; vengeance against those who used him and vengeance against the Black Lord who guided their hand. Roald only knew one place where he could receive the martial training he would need to pursue his revenge: the church of Torm. He traveled back to his captors, his saviors, and was trained to become a paladin of Torm, all the whole holding the teachings of Hoar in his heart.
Hello, still interested in joining if this is still open. I'm fairly new to 5e, but not 3D&D or PBP so I should be fine. I have a half-orc monk ready, I was planning to turn her into a grapple monk but can be flexible as the party requires.
Julie Dayspring was raised in a monastery after being abandoned by her orc father's tribe, her unrelenting optimism and large stature led the monks to send her out to join an adventuring party so she could fight as a force for good. Naturally too restless for life in a monastery, she was happy to go out and meet all the new friends she was confident were waiting. She always prefers to settle disagreements nonviolently but has been known to crush people with her bare hands when left without options, or to protects the innocent or allies. Joining with a group of trusted allies, she followed them to Star's Landing; where our adventure begins.

Stapper, Female Halfling Monk, Lawful Good
Stapper always had the utmost respect for the monks and teachers of her temple. She was an eager and faithful student, wide-eyed and mouth agape at the stories her teachers told her of the great world beyond the temple doors. When ill fortune befell the temple, she set out on her own, never forgetting the ancient wisdom she was taught: be polite, look for the best in people and fight for what you believe in. She is also a great cook, dazzling her fellow adventurers with cleverly named dishes made from the most exotic - and questionable - ingredients they find on their journey.
Since it looks like you are still recruiting i might as well try my luck too!
Trugir "Eaglenose" Goldnail, Hill Dwarf Ranger at your service!
"Did someone call pest control?" Trugir loves the thrill of the hunt, and absolutely adores fresh hunting trophies.
Trugir is the second son of the Goldnail family. His father, Brottor, a jewellery merchant and of noble birth raised his two sons, Trugir and Kweinir to follow in his footsteps; To become esteemed merchants. Trugir did not like the jewellery business, but his father tried his best to show him the perks of being a wealthy businessman. In addition to being a merchant Brottor had a favourite hobby, hunting. He showed his son his trophyroom, a dusty old library in the Goldnail mansion. Trugir was absolutely amazed by all the trophies on the walls and begged his father to take him and his brother hunting in the caverns under the city. His father agreed to this.
They went hunting for Giant Striders. As they entered the dark caves below something primal awoke inside of Trugir. The thrill of the hunt. Quietly as a mouse he stalked one of the large beasts for minutes, but they felt more like hours. His brother followed suit. Brottor had been following both his sons actions and signaled them to go for the kill shot. Trugir and Kweinir both released their arrows. Kweinir missed, but the younger brother hit it. And what a hit! The birdlike reptile fell the moment the arrow hit it straight through the eye. "Keep a claw", his father smiled as he was gathering a trophy for Kweinir, who started throwing up the very same moment that Trugirs arrow pierced the eye of the monstrosity.
The same evening Trugir begged and begged his father to let him leave the family business and start adventuring. There were so many fascinating beasts to slay! "I will bring you a trophy from every prey i kill father", Trugir pleaded, "And when i come home i promise i will pick up the family trade." His father just smiled and presented his own hunting crossbow as a gift for his eager son. And so Trugir started as a pest exterminator. "You have to start with the smaller beasts", his father had told him before he left.
Trugir now lives in Stars Landing, hunting giant rats and other pesky pests for a living. Regularly sending bits and pieces of his killings home to his father and brother.

I based this character on a FR campaign but can easily adapt. This would also be my first PbP.
