Kia turns to include Bors in the conversation. "Yes, I came here to hunt, at my guide's direction. He opened a portal for me. He is a Celestial named Arkiel." To Martha, "Last night I heard you and the strange girl speaking of Celestials. I have learned some of their language from him, though it is difficult for me to master, and I could not follow all you said."
Lilitu remains quiet her heart still racing at Loo Loo's pain. She does what she can to clean and dress the dolly' bleeding eye as she would a living person dreadfully worried and concerned for her best friend. After doing all she can for the dolly Lilitu, tears in her own eyes take a moment to look about but does not dally long wanting to reach the town as quickly as possible, she follows the road west, following it towards Barovia. As she walks she will continue to check on Loo Loo.
OOC: DM, I don’t suppose Martha has ever heard of Arkiel, has she?
”Yeah, you got that right...” Turning back to Kia, “Yes, it would seem that she and that doll share a bit of a relationship. Evidently, she is a pact keeper of some sort. She talked of healing and the ‘Celestial Auditors.’ Quite a unique girl.”

Odmun had been sound asleep at the tavern. More acurately, stone cold drunk! He was slumped back in a chair with his boots kicked up on a table. The wide brim of his hat covered his face and muffled his gentle snoring. It wasn't until the following morning that he was driven out of his stupor. Come the wee hours, he was already up and stoking the flames of the taverns hearth. The flames twinkled against the rosie tint of his spectacles as he read over the mysterious letter.
It was this letter, in fact, that occupied his thoughts the entirety of the 5 hour trip to Barovia. It was then and only then that the fog of insight and contemplation lifted from the mire of his mind. Odmun looked up to see he was in mist and fog and dark gnarled forest. He was surrounded by the odd lot that was his party. Time had lost all manner of grip on him. Wasn't he just at the tavern? Hadn't they just left?
The place had a quiet oppression. A silence that cast down the dread of some ominous lurking ire that would be drawn for breaking it. So after a moment, Odmun cleared his throat and held up a hooded lantern. He brought the small lamp up and around while adjusting his spectacles "Are we there yet?"
OOC: Lilitu besides the Celestial Healing Light and Cure Wounds spell, etc. she is a skilled Healer with a healer's kit (Feat), the scars from her mouth... and all over her body is her own work ranging from primitive to skilled as she is self-taught in the healing arts.
As the party gathered in the morning sun, a raven swooped down from the inn and perched on the wizard's shoulder (Ritual Casting of Find Familiar). Grishkar took no chances heading out in the morning. This world possessed dangers at every turn. As the party travelled, Grishkar commanded his servants to flank the advance from either side.
After the relative ease of the road, the forest seemed to stall their progress at every turn. The party's order of march opened gradually, allowing everyone to navigate the trees without concern. This loose marching order caused Grishkar to modify his previous caution and recall his minions to his side. Using one as a guide, he spent a minute or so at a time looking through his raven over the canopy of trees for a sign of direction or civilization.

Briella marches with the others, eventually ending up towards the middle of the group. She has been listening to most of the conversations, but not really engaged with any. Throwing occasional looks over at the bugbear that she had missed last night. "How strange."she thinks, "Bugbears don't normally talk like that. Or dress as nicely. Apparently he is a friend of the group's. How did I not see him last night?" Brought out of her thoughts at the appearance of the iron gate, she starts to feel a sense of foreboding. Clutching her amulet in one hand she sends a quick prayer to her goddess as she passes through the. Her other hand find itself in the fur of the creature beside her. Her newest companion, a large white dire wolf, sensing her master's distress, pauses for a moment, sniffs at the air, and continues walking.
As you all walk west along the path to Barovia, you notice something that is extremely hard to miss. There is a dead villager in the underbrush. He holds an envelope crumpled in his hand. The remains of his clothes are torn and raked with claw marks. Paw prints of many large wolves are pressed into the clay around the body. The man has obviously been dead for several days.
Lilitu quickly moves to the body to determine if it's mostly dead or all the way dead if it's all dead she does the only thing she can do and goes through his clothes to look for loose change.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kia looks about, scanning for danger. Then she examines the prints, trying to determine how many, what they were, where they came from and where they went.
Kia noticed that there is no eminent danger around, and there could have been about 10 large wolves, maybe more, based on the amount of tracks and prints.
At some point while the party is examining the body, if there are no answers forthcoming, Kia may interject to Grishkar, "Prove your use, wizard, can you pierce the veil and ask this man what was done to him?"

"For me it's hunting. Or traveling a new road."
Martha jumps back surprised, “Warn a girl next time before you sneak behind her! You’re surprisingly quiet for someone so armored...”

The body is very all the way dead - it's completely mangled. Sadly, aside from the note in his grasp, he doesn't have anything else of value.

They came from the woods, but that's all she can tell. They weren't interested in the note, it seems. Just some poor dead villager.
