Strahd, Yawning Portal, etc., = Realms. Heck, even Volos guide, for obvious reasons, is Realms - but as a monster manual 2, essentially, its dissapointing the lack of support for other worlds.
In trying to see the good in Volos potential to tie worlds, that are linked in their multi-verse, I was happy that beholders origins were left as unknown... after all, we all know the Daelkyr are responsible for them! :)
Personally - the Realms, tried to like it... played a full campaign, PoTA there, but... ... got tired of waiting for Eberron support and bought essentially every 3.0 Eberron sourcebook available. (Maybe thats WoTCs goal) At this point, really not sure I will purchase more 5.0 material if they cant show some love to other worlds.

The DMsGuild and DrivethruRPG are there to help those who want to know more about a setting... albeit through older editions. :)
Until that time, Keith Baker keeps an updated blog on Eberron... enough to fill a book with. Lot of good info, and his thoughts on 5.0 unearthed arcana for Psionics. http://keith-baker.com/category/gaming/eberron-faq/
YEs. This. My intro to DnD was Baldur's Gate, and the Dragonlance books, but I love DDO, and to me, Eberron is the best of what DnD can be.
I havent purchased SCAG or Volos, and I doubt I will until they bloody well support other worlds a bit.
SCAG is purely FR but contains several interesting new class options. Volo's is also pretty interesting but is also FR, although you could shift it a bit to Eberron.
Volo's also does not include the Gatekeepers when talking about orcs. Nor Droaam. Nor the ancient giant empire on Xen'drik, the Prophecy, nor the drow in the giant section. HOW DARE THEY!!!
Personally as far as races , classes, and dragon marks go I think the new 5e versions are more than fine. what it's really lacking is updated stats, descriptions, and costs of the worlds tech and dragon stones. I want my lightning rails and land carts; not to mention the other Cannith tech.
I need to see the progression of the world too. We all know that The Last War isn't truly over. That there is another one coming. Whereas the last war was modeled after World War One (kind of, right?) I feel like Eberron should progress with that and shadow WWII. Where there is a good side and a bad side. I know there are thousands of gray areas within Eberron itself, that's what makes it such an amazing world to play in. Yet, there are supreme evils in this world that have done nothing short but try to bring about its end. I feel like this world should start to feel a connection within itself. There's a war coming, one that was promised. And I feel like that's where Eberron should start. The storm clouds rising and the treaties and alliances of The Treaty of Thronehold start to break. Give us some adventures and modules leading up to and during the next conflict. And of course, CANNITH TECH!!! :P
I've been playing a Mat Mercer Fighter: Gunslinger and when I downloaded then new 5e stuff I had to take a Dragonmark as a feat to add to the magic I got from Magic Initiate (druid craft, thorn whip, entangle). Don't have time to tinker up something? Magic; Busted equipment or constructs? Magic; Can figure out what they new magic item does? Magic; Your weapon doing less then desirable damage to that resistant monster? Magic!!! It also fits considering some small things in my character's background and being a Gunslinger. Dragonmark Magic For The Win; Cannith For Life!!!
Eberron is not Eberron without House Cannith :D
I bet Cannith is everyone's favorite house. Actually, we should start a thing about our least favorite houses in Eberron.
NAh. My favorite house is probably either Thurrani or Tharashk. I like the effect of Cannib upon the world, but as a campaign element to acuallybdirectly interact with, it's mid teir, for me.
t
Also, I am with Keith Baker on the idea of moving time forward. I want Eberron to stay where it is, no big time jump, no enumerating the cause of the mourning, etc. there is plenty still unexplored without changing what Eberron is, as a setting.
Same. Except for the House part. Mine is Cannith and Lyrandar/Medani. Or Tarkanan, if that counts.
d'Lyrandar is the best Dragonmarked House in my opinion. I mean, all the Dragonmarked families have helped shape Khorvaire and the world that it is today, but none more so than Lyrandar. Masters of the seas and the skies...damn, they're cool!

Regardless of what house we all favor at least I know we can all agree the House Vol were a bunch of evil suck up elfish A-holes (who in their right mind tries to create avatars of death?). The only thing better that knowing all the other houses curb stomped them into nothing, is if there was a mini campaign that let us go back in time to push the button(s) that would drop an equivalent of a nuke on them.

During the war between elves and dragons, the matriarch of House Vol sought to make peace between the two races by combining the blood of both. The result was her daughter Erandis Vol whose father was a green dragon.
House Vol achieved its objective of peace, though at their own bloodline's expense as both dragon and elf saw Erandis Vol as an abomination. The dragons and elves allied with one another under the one goal of killing Erandis Vol and the entire Vol bloodline along with the mark of death.
Eventually, every member of the House of Vol was destroyed along withErandis Vol, the other Elven houses that had aligned themselves with House Vol were spared the same wrath and were instead banished. These banished elves kept their faith and spread the religion to the Human of Khorvaire.
The Blood of Vol is centered on the belief of Divinity Within, which means that the Blood of Vol does not revere any deity but the blood that courses through their own veins. Only by embracing the potential power of their blood may they avoid Dolurrh's gray wasteland and live in an afterlife crafted by the individuals own abilities, a place of eternal happiness.
That's from the Eberron wiki...I mean, they just wanted peace and eternal happiness! But then again...
While the followers of The Blood of Vol are often distrusted by members of other faiths because of rumors that they worship the dead, the members are not evil. This is widely misunderstood due to the fact that the teachings are dark and driven. While no longer presumed evil, the members of The Blood of Vol are unaligned and follow these exhortations:
Believe in yourself: "As the blood is the power, and the blood flows through me, the power is mine."
Work to improve yourself and your capabilities. A complete understanding of divinity within opens the door to immortality.
Meet with others of The Blood of Vol to share in the power of each other's blood.
Those of The Blood of Vol are entranced by the meaning of blood, both literal and figurative, as well as heredity. To them, blood is the source of power and the divine, and only through understanding that power is within and not without or through an illusionary otherworldly power can one focus on day-to-day activities and self-improve and ultimately obtain immortality. For if one is strong enough, he may be able to master the source of life and abilities that come from within him and his blood.
We can agree that they can be great Protagonists. Other than that, they're not that bad. They have been used as baddies in some story arcs, yet for the most part, they believe in an inner power. The ability to believe in oneself and the power you hold in your very blood. If anything, it's admirable compared to believing in a being that may or may not be there. They're kind of like vampire/undead Buddhists.

To everyone who enjoyed the first episode of Manifest Zone, thank you for the kind words! I'm one of the hosts (and sort of producer as I do the recording, posting, website maintenance, coordinating, social media management, etc.). I'm really excited about our future episodes, and we have some ideas on how to get you more content between the monthly episodes. Stay tuned!
PS - Thanks for the iTunes review. ;)
I wasn't aware of the podcast until this thread, but I listened to it, yesterday. Absolutely awesome! I've tried several gaming podcasts, but they generally sound like fatbeards sitting in their basement. You all sounded really professional, knowledgeable, well spoken, etc. Great job.
Also, where can I find your conversion for Savage Worlds? And, for anyone else in the thread, I've yet to find a good Fate Core conversion; anyone have a recommendation?

Advantage to Insight is a really good podcast about gaming that Wayne does. Kristian guests on the mics on some episodes as well. (I just found that the other day too!) And I never heard the term fatbeard and holy heck...lmao and I think I saw a link for his Savage World's stuff... give me a little bit to look for it...

I would prefer if all of the 5e material kept out as much specifics to one setting as possible. Makes it more convenient for other settings and homebrews. But even if things like Volo's are specific to FE, still a pretty cool book with race templates and some cool insights into some classic creatures.
Up to you whether or not you want to use them.
From what I heard the Yawning Portal are supposed to have instructions for translating the modules included over to Eberron. Not sure if that is true though, I heard it during a Con at an Eberron panel.
I still have the 4th ed Eberron campaign guide. I will still use that for setting and such. If they had an updated version for 5th I'd be all over it, no more subbing monsters.

The only Eberron material in TYP is suggestions on where to set each of the dungeons.

Also counts in all other adventure modules like Strahd (which thankfully is set in Ravenloft), Storm King's, Tyranny of Dragons, and OA and EE. We need a pure Eberron adventure. NAO. With Khyber. And Shavarath. And Dal Quor. And Xoriat. And the Lords of Dust. And Warforged. And House Lyrandar. And House Tharaskh. And House Medani. And the Lord of Blades. WE NEED EVERYTHING.

Thank you so much, SobekRe! We do our best to give it a professional touch, and we appreciate that recognition.
Yawning Portal has suggestions at the beginning of each adventure for where to place it in a setting. Unless it's very, very setting based, (*cough* Dead in Thay *cough*), and even then they make suggestions for other settings. Which I would love in their other supplements. I'm using pieces of Princes of the Apocalypse in my current game. I can see how Hoard of the Dragon Queen/Rise of Tiamat would work as a cult using guidance from a draconic prophecy to release Tiamat, (I think she's one of the Overlords). Not sure how to input Storm Kings Thunder. Would need to think on it more.
Actually, some of Volo's Guide can easily be used. Goblinoids just needs you to ignore the religious stuff and focus on tactics and society rolls. Orcs can be tossed. Hags, Mind Flayers, Beholders are really weird, otherworldly so can be used as is. As can kobolds, with a little ramping up their draconic delusions of grandeur.
SCAG has backgrounds and races that are good to pull for Eberron, though 70% of the book goes to waste. Also, pull races from Volo's too, nothing wrong there.
It would be great if WotC would do more system neutral stuff but a lot can be mined and dissected for good materials. It just takes extra work on our part.

Yes! That's kind of why I started this thread. Well, that and to talk with others who have the same love for the setting as much as I do. Because I think Wizards should realize how many of us would love some Eberron content or even a more neutral line of content. I don't mind the extra work of being a DM, but it can become a little much when I work full time, have a small family and just want to get into the nitty gritty on Friday's without having to prep so much for every game session...

Natural 20 Charisma
I still have the 4th ed Eberron campaign guide. I will still use that for setting and such. If they had an updated version for 5th I'd be all over it, no more subbing monsters.

Your best bet is to keep an eye on Keith Baker's social media.
That said, I don't expect an adventure native to Eberron until (if?) we get a dedicated sourcebook.

Manifest Zone
I have enjoyed listening Manifest Zone. Can't wait to hear more about Eberron.
