It would be great if WotC would do more system neutral stuff but a lot can be mined and dissected for good materials. It just takes extra work on our part.
Yes! That's kind of why I started this thread. Well, that and to talk with others who have the same love for the setting as much as I do. Because I think Wizards should realize how many of us would love some Eberron content or even a more neutral line of content. I don't mind the extra work of being a DM, but it can become a little much when I work full time, have a small family and just want to get into the nitty gritty on Friday's without having to prep so much for every game session...
Praise the Six! I agree and thank you for starting the thread.

"...Debts must always be paid, sometimes in more than blood and gold. But this is Ordo Ursa," Ren places his hand on Erakas's chest, right where the Dragonborn's heart is. "Right here. And it always has been and always will be. Don't ever forget that. Because I won't."

Recently I've been reading the 3.5 Eberron stuff so I could perhaps somehow start an Eberron Campaign.
There is a lot of good material in the 3.5 books, I can't really talk about the 4E books because I hated that system. (I still don't like it...lol) The Shran: City of Towers book is probably one of the best ones...though Secrets of Sarlona was done extremely well. Dragonmarked is pretty awesome too.
What ideas do you have for an Eberron campaign?

Good place to start. Knowing the setting is the core of running any published setting. The 4e books had similar information but I remember it being better presented, as if they could refine the writing or something between editions. Though it's been awhile since I read those. After that just pull the stuff from the Eberron Unearthed Arcana articles for Eberron specific rules needs.

I have an idea for an Eberron world set over 1000 years in the future. All the warforged are antiquated and those remaining are being studied by Cannith researchers or turning to a life of crime. The 5 nations are still not pleased with each other and there are tensions between Droaam and Stormreach. The Emerald Claw has moved on from Karrnath and are looking for places in Stormreach, Riedra, and other places. All giants are dead and slaughtered and the Inspired, with help from their Quori masters, have managed to capture Argonessen in a 50 year fight, but soon after their capture, the ancient dragons, in a last act of bravery and sacrifice, destroyed the whole island, and now only a few dragons remain, and only one even has a clue about the Prophecy. Thankfully, there still is no Xoriat.

I use the 4e books even when running Eberron in 5e. They are really good.

The guys at the Piazza helped me wade through the abundant material, available for Eberron, in order of relevance. Coming from an anemic 5.0, it was confusing, at first, as to what would be most beneficial.
Essentially: Campaign setting/guide (3.5/4.0) Region specfic material (Excellent sources) ... and some you can live without... mainly "Forge of War".
I recommend ignoring the Five Kingdoms book. It was written without Keith Baker's input, and contradicts a lot of the tone of setting elements. For instance, Thrane refusing refugees from Cyre on the day of Mourning?

No. Absolutely 0%.
Nice catch... I didn't even notice that. I usually I am a stickler for stuff like that. I also didn't realize he had no input in it. It's been so long since I have held a physical copy of that book. (DAMN YOU, 4E FOR BEING SO PROMISING THAT I STUPIDLY SOLD ALL MY 3.5 BOOKS!!! #neveragain) What else was contradicted? I have a bunch of 3.5 books on my birthday list (4/25) so, if I don't get the Five Nations book I probably will buy it again. lol I'm a hoarder...lol

If your looking for Eberron material with Keith Bakers input: * Campaign Setting 3.5 / Campaign Guide 4.0 (Keith has an older article stating he prefers the 4.0e, chapter one, the most from the source material) * Players Guide to Eberron 3.5 (Guys at the Piazza said the 4.0 edition isn't worth it, in comparison to the use they get from 3.5s sourcebook)
* Dragonmarked 3.5 (Not 'essential', but - I like my Dragonmarks!) :) * Races of Eberron 3.5 (Not 'essential' either, but I really enjoyed the entry for the Eberron races.)
* Dragons of Eberron: (If you want to campaign in Argonnessen) * Secretof of Sarlona * Secrets of Xen'Drik * City of Stormreach * Sharn: City of Towers
Non Keith-Baker Books: * Five Nations (Mixed reviews... sounds like enough material to salvage - Chris Perkins name is on it.) * Forge of War (Its said to ignore Thrane - but even Keith Baker has an article on how to 'reconcile' some of what is said, through the filter of what was intended.)
* Magic of Eberron: (Very low, mixed reviews: one redeeming factor is extra data on the Daelkyr) * Faiths of Eberron (Though some points are not aligned with what Keith has posted in his blog, they seem not to be a 'game-breaker') :) * Explorers Guide to Eberron: (Mainly useful for distances, etc. - if you are expecting areas in-between to be filled out, you will be disappointed.)
* Adventurer's Guide to Eberron: (A coffee table book)

Don't forget that he wrote on the 4e books, as well as many(most?) of the 4e digital magazine articles about Eberron, all of which are official.
On Keith's Eberron blog, he was asked his favorite 'canon' material in print - to that he replied he liked Chapter one of the 4e ECG, (Eberron Campaign Guide), due to how it nicely summarizes material spread out across 3e source material.
Having said that, it seems that the only other 4e material, (aside from Eye on Eberron articles, etc.), would be the 4e players handbook, which did not seem to do as well in reviews compared to its 3e counterpart.
But you are definitely correct... He has over 400 pages of material, in regards to Eberron, on his blog - may not seem like it, but its definitely there. While its 'unofficial', my take is - its his setting, and he knows what he wants to do with the world, and while I don't necessarily 'agree' with all aspects, he has done a pretty solid job, and knows the world like the back of his hand. :)
i.e., It seems the Daelkyr are 'under-used' as top villains in most campaigns - lower stats than the Overlords, and as 'artist'/'scientist', as he put it, they do not necessarily pose an immediate threat. Add to that their mysterious nature/way of thought, it can be daunting, without some initial guidance, in how to use them. (But Keith has you covered!) After all - they are the creators of all aberrations, (beholders, mindflayers, etc.)
I will add, its a shame that the material on Aberrant Dragonmarks was cut from the Sharn source book. He apparently had a full system for it - and felt it was 'watered down', as it were, or rather that the marks and their abilities did not really match up. Only one way to get that info - WotC opens up the DMsGuild for Eberron! ;)
I wish they would put all the article types from 4e into collections and put them up. I'd pay 40$ for a collection of all the Eye on eberron articles. Some really excellent work in there.
There's a couple new little Manifest Zone episodes. The newest one is Keith Baker pronouncing different countries in Khorvaire. It was funny to me because of Breland and Cyre...I said them WAY differently. lol

I like the idea of different common pronunciations.
Personally, I pronounce it Kye-ree, rhymes with eye-bee.
We just dropped a new full episode of Manifest Zone yesterday covering The Last War.
Thank you, Kristian! :)

PbP Character: Primus Eidolon, Eotha 2
