I'm not sure this is the right thread for this, but I love hearing/reading about other player's characters and their stories so far.
If you're so inclined, I would love to read about your character's background, and their story so far up to whatever level they are. I'd love to know what campaign setting they're in, and their stats, and how you're liking them too. But mostly I want to know their story and what makes them special and unique to you.
At the time he hatched, there were whistles from the docks and someone dropped some cooking supplies; thus Whistles and Pots Clanging was named.Like most of his kenku kind, Whistler (as he was nicknamed), was stereotypically cast as a villain by the townsfolk of Baldur’s Gate. Most of the kenku were in fact what the townsfolk thought: nare-do-Wells and thieves. He would have followed suit, but he is rather nearsighted. This hampered most nefarious activities and makes it so he has difficulty differentiating between the non-kenku races.
He joined the town watch instead. His dexterous skills and his mimicry helped him land a position in the administration department, where he files and copies important documents. While he rarely leaves his desk, he is a good hand with a rapier and a dagger in a pinch. He has watched many battles, and prefers to grant his allies attacks from afar.
Currently he and his allies find themselves in a desolate world, where only a few mega-cities sustain the world’s races, looking for a powerful magical gold piece.Retrieving said item will help bring them back to their plane of origin.
I'm playing in a campaign, and I'm an Aarakocra, Paladin its a lot of fun being a bird person, with a bird voice.
I play them with an old man kinda flavored kooky prospector voice, and when I feel like it I'll throw in an aWW to punctuate a statement. Gives a nice bird tone to stuff.
People seem to enjoy it, so far I haven't had a reason to get out of the heavy armor and fly, but its a nice bit of utility to have in the back pocket for the group, and I think getting out of armor is a good downside to balance for it, so I can't just cheese past encounters.
I leaned into the Folk Hero sort of attitude of being a stand up bird, but I don't quite follow the law. So far I've given my word to a bandit to let him go if he threw down his sword, and while my friends made me go back on that promise, I was able to divert him from imprisonment to simply being branded and made a kennel handler...which he wasn't very good at (they attacked with some jackals so I thought maybe he might be good at it.), but I used an animal handling check which I crushed, and taught him a few tricks, and hope to hear back from the captain on how he's doing. He didn't give us a name, so one of my companions called him Bumberdy Cumberbunch, and when I talked to the captain thats the name I gave when referring to him, so he' stuck with it.
Unfortunately the oath options are limited on the f2p stuff so he's got the wrong oath, (oath of the ancients) on here. I'll have to eventually unlock the bundle, but I'm waiting on getting a tablet first.
Well I am in the early stages of curse of strald, with my Tifling Druid named Ekron.
His backtstory is that until auntil year ago he was a crook(criminal background) but after some how you say unfortunate circumstances. He was forced to flee his home town, his left side badly cut.
But as he got lost in the woods some druids took him in, he side healed the scar looking like red tree bark. He then adopted the druid lifestyle, but he wasent happy with trees and moss, so he snack away and met up with is only friends a kenku, and an ork. Set off too have adventure.....
And then promptly got stuck in strads domain.
We haven't played much so we all are still level 1, but its fun.
I have an amnestic barbarian dragon born that woke up on a beach I've only made 1 chapter so far but I hope you enjoy!!
As the emerging sun rises soaring through his face
The birds stop singing. Their heartbeats stop beating
And Dark wing awakes from his deep slumber. His orange eyes budge open he as he stands up his peach and blue jacket soaked around his vest. His jet-black skin imprinted as a shadow, he stares around his location seeing he stands on a beach and beside him is a shattered pirate ship. Lots of paraphernalia (equipment) lay on the ground but only 4 caught his attention 2 fully loaded shotguns and 2 hand-axes. He picks them up and buckles them into his jacket. He glances away from the intensifying sea and sees immense jungle trees.
I'm really green to this whole DnD thing but I've written a few characters prior. I tend to write a lot of lore to them but here's one of my favourite: Aeon Medani, the Warmind Eternal
Aeon was a young fledgling half-elf whose family was travelling to a nearby sea port. However, the ship was captured by Tempus warlyons who proposed a deal. In exchange for their lives, they had to give up their brightest mind to become the one of the first warminds. Warminds were slaves put into a stasis for several centuries while their mind was subjugated to a simulant world called the simulacrum that forced warminds to fight legions upon legions of enemies through hundreds of different conditions, all to research the art of war and combat. Every time they died, they would simply be revived, forced to fight again and again. This was a fate worse than death, worse than thousands of deaths.
Despite this, Aeon volunteered but the warlyons broke the deal, simply slaughtering the entire ship after Aeon was secured. Being a prodigy of sorts, Aeon's capacity to wage war within the simulacrum proved so effective at drawing up strategies that many other warminds were subjugated. However, after centuries of battle Aeon eventually started to become smart enough to break the spell, and escaped the grasps of the warlyons. He had lost much of the knowledge within the simulacrum, and knew little of the outside world.
After wandering a few days within a nearby forest, he was taken under the wing of House Dace, but so as not to bring the wrath of his pursuers down upon them, Aeon quickly left after learning some knowledge and collecting some gear. Despite his efforts, however, his pursuers also descended upon House Dace and completely annihilated them, leaving no survivors.
So you can understand why Aeon is struggling for a reason to live. He's lost all that he knew, all the allies he had gained, and he had just escaped a world of endless battle into a world hundreds of years later than what he is familiar with. Much of what he has known has all faded into history books and all the while he has to evade the capture of his restless tormentors. None of it has really been his fault either, and his enemies are too powerful to deal with at any present rate.
He tries to keep up appearances. He hadn't aged at all since his capture, and he looks like a young, spritely teenager who has had a nice, caring household and a peaceful life. He appreciates colorful pebbles and quiet naps under a shade in summer. He hates grapes with seeds in them but don't mind if they're the green ones. If he can, he leaves milk out in plates so that stray cats have something to drink. He knows how to find berries in the wilds and gets angry at raisins in choc-chip cookies.
But in times where he is alone, he cries over his family insignia, the only symbol of the old world and his family he belonged to. When he is sleeping he is haunted by the memories of the simulacrum, leading to inadvertent self-harming behavior. When he is in battle, sometimes he wishes that the next blow will guide him back to where the rest of his family awaits for him.
All in all? He's a cinnamon roll laced with eternal suffering.
While green to D&D as a whole, creating characters is something akin to a drug for me; especially when I write short stories for my own personal enjoyment. Here are a couple of my characters' backstories. Tell me what you think of them.
Syru Ravenclaw, Human Fighter LVL 3 (Eldritch Knight): Once looked down on, Syru Ravenclaw rose through the ranks of his kingdom's military forces. Viewed as a tactical genius after several notable battles, he gained more prominence within his clan Ravenclaw. A fierce clan born of warriors, the Ravenclaw Clan proved to be one of the best warrior clans while having only a few of the magic-kind. However, as the warriors were needed to patrol their kingdom of Kolnburn, Syru focused his attention to the clan. With fewer children being born into this proud clan for unknown reasons, the Ravenclaw clan was dwindling in numbers; believed by others, due to the introduction of magic users into the clan. Syru wants the tactics he's learned in battle to be remembered, joining the Kolnburn Army and teaching them to his fellow soldiers. Wanting his clan to be remembered for all time and beyond its walls and borders, he left the army and his kingdom to learn new tactics and teach them to his clan, whether he learns on the battlefield or in a tavern with a good ale in his tankard. It didn't matter if it was a new technique of using his trusty battleaxe & shield or the strange magic power he inherited from his mother.
Tarik Blackstone, Half-Elf Rogue LVL 3 (Arcane Trickster): Born to the not-so-affluent life of his mother's Elven heritage, Tarik Blackstone inherited his father's proud nature while the grace and cautiousness of his Elven mother Tal'en. Though his mother is from a well-to-do family in the woods of Galorum, his father was more of a merchant and has dealt with the elves of the woods for a majority of his life. However, Tarik's father Garrick stumbled upon a strange coup rising in the Elven city. Begging his wife to leave, she couldn't; her family has always lived in these woods and will continue to do so. It wasn't long before the coup was more than just a coup. Several drows took over the city from within and siezed the throne from its rightful rulers. Realizing that her husband was telling the truth, Tal'en Blackstone took her children and sent them off to their father. Her business in the city remained unfinished. After rising in the ranks of Garrick's hometown soldier unit, Tarik has always wondered what had happened back in Galorum. Using his natural inquisitive nature, he left the safety of his father's business and began to hone his investigative skills by sticking to the shadows. His arrival in Galorum had to wait; several towns have asked of his natural detective skills to discover the horrors of their streets. Naturally, Tarik knew his skills need to be top notch before he can reach his old home.
Lol this reminds me of a session I did...my oc was a Knight from the inhuman kingdom and she was a Knight of the human kingdom They met and fought but eventually due to being trapped they became friends...then..became more than that. One day when they were helping refugees they were ambushed he stayed behind to buy them time Here is an excerpt from that scene: Sergei plants his feet turns and shouts" maria take the others and go...I will buy you as much time as I can" he says as the rope bridge ahead was the only crossing point over the Massive chasm, As Maria gets across he turns and swings his blade cutting the Bridge's tethers" Go...Live...Goodbye my love" the resulting battle ended with 215 dead enemies before they ended up shouting Sergei with several Balistas[Repeaditly firing into him], Firing volleys of arrows, jamming spears and finally Using heavy amounts of magic before they could force him back here is the last scene: Sergei Stumbles backward but steadies himself at the edge of the cliff he looks down at the massive River turns and smiles as he extends his arms out and falls backward into the water...When he hit he felt himself at peace...he had died for a good purpose...or...so they think...as he faded into the water she cried out his name his last words were..."Goodbye...my love...I am sorry..."
Due to a series of rolls i managed to fake his death and now he is a oc who is waiting to be used
I always like reading over other's characters, so I'll pitch in!
Jeriah "Swift" Lidholm - Level 1 Warlock A Lapineirdae (A Homebrew race found here, think rabbits.) that was born in a distant, far away land deep in the forests in a large city that followed Midnight as a deity. They preserved magic and nearly everyone there was a spellcaster of some sort, or a patron of the arts. Jeriah was not one of these sort. He lacked any talent for magic and was not gifted either. His family was diverse: his mother a cleric, his father a scholar, and so on. His only talent was for drawing. He was able to turn this into a profession when he met an Elf in church, whom was a cartographer and took him in as an apprentice. This lead them to a ancient ruin where he found a stone that whispered dark, profane secrets too him, which lead too him taking the stone and exploring these secrets. This, however, lead too his exile when he was turned over to the church. Now roaming the world, he was attacked by a thief and left for dead.. when the stone whispered too him once more, and he heard a voice offer to save him. He accepted, and the pact was made, and he was revived. He then continued his travels, discovering dark secrets along the way.
What makes Jeriah so unique and enjoyable is, aside from him being a 3 and a half foot tall rabbit that has Warlock powers, he's most certainly a good hearted person that cares for his party members and others alike, playing around with the 'Dark is Not Evil" approach. In the race details, he also has disadvantage against fear, so I decided to incorporate this into his personality as he's a timid, demure person that is easily spooked and quite anxious. Yet, when he warms to you he's unfailingly kind, and is not afraid to show his teeth when he really needs too. Plus there's been moments in the campaign involving him that make you go "D'aw.", such as learning that a local pub was adding carrot cake to it's menu: he let out an excited, happy giggle. (Which I did actually act out.)
First real D&D campaign I've really been a part of and he's been a blast none the less.
I have a treatment for a Simic Hybrid character from the upcoming Ravnica set. It may sound confusing without any magic the gathering experience, but here it is!
Rakabac "The Scout"- Level 1 Simic Hybrid
Izzet Engineer Dorf Asal has presented a revolutionary device to the guild's Wizarding board; A mizzium-archway capable of bringing living beings into the space between planes. Several tests with objects proved successful, but no amount of shielding seemed to help living test subjects survive the Blind Eternities. Forming a joint venture with the Simic Conclave, "Project Scout" was designed with various animal attributes and magical augmentations to withstand the unforgiving enviornment. To spare potential suffering, the scout's higher brain functions were left undeveloped. Both guilds gathered when the scout was first sent through the "Fireway" connected to a coiled tether. Minutes passed, and readings indicated the scout was functioning normally. Just as cheers of celebration rang from both groups, arcs of energy erupted from the Fireway, and the scout’s life signs began to wildly fluctuate. Now in a panic, Dorf ordered the tether retracted and the power shut off. The energy from the arch slowly faded as the scout was ripped back to Ravnican soil. Biomancers stood shocked as the previously inert hybrid now screamed and flailed upon the ground, tears streaming down his scaled face. Quickly moving to sedate him, he was brought back to the Zameck Laboratory and the two guilds put the project on temporary hiatus. Further examination of the scout revealed that whatever energy existed beyond the arch had activated his dormant brain functions. Now calling himself "Rakabac" for reasons he himself did not know, the scout described alien deities that assaulted his mind and body, teaching him to fear and laughing at his confusion. Further questions were planned the next day, but Simic guards were discovered unconscious outside of Rakabac's door and the scout in question was nowhere to be found. To this day, Simic efforts to retrieve him remain unsuccessful.
I'm not sure this is the right thread for this, but I love hearing/reading about other player's characters and their stories so far.
