I am creating a character who is sorceress. I want her to have a Draconic Ancestor, but I also want to have absorbed the soul of a fire giant from the elemental plane of fire. So essentially, I am saying that her magic from her draconian bloodline. However; when she was 14, the people of the fishing hamlet where she lived, tried to burn her as a witch. This trauma, awoken her draconian blood.
As her true power was awakened by trauma and not naturally, it exploded out of her as magically infused fire that burned everything around her. Buildings, people, everything. The flames also tore a hole between the planes, momentarily connecting the elemental plane of fire, with the material plane. She was terrified, she had no idea what was going on and in her terror, she unconsciously reached out and latched onto the soul of a fire giant, who resided on that plane.
She was not really aware of what she was doing, she was scared and looking for something, anything. She was acting on pure instinct and not in control of her actions at this point.
The rift/hole/portal between the two planes didn't last long though and when it closed, Aveline and the fire giant were forcefully separated. This forceful separation essentially ripped part of the giants soul away from it and trapped it inside of Aveline and did the same with a part of her soul, trapping it inside the fire giant. This left a hole in Aveline' soul, which was filled with the part of the fire giants soul that had been trapped inside of her.
Turning her from being a human sorceress with a draconian bloodline into Genasi sorceress with a draconian bloodline.
This happened off screen as it were. So her character has been made as a Fire Genasi Sorceress with a Draconic Bloodline, because that is essentially when she became.
I am working on a backstory, that starts just after she has burned the hamlet and all the people in it to ash. The dragon from who she is descended (now an ancient dragon) decides to take her under its wing and teaches her about her bloodline, the lore and history of the world and how to control her fire. It also names her Starfury.
So she becomes Aveline the Starfury.
She is now an adult and having spent 10 years with the dragon, she has lived largely apart from the world. Now, with control of her fire and the knowledge imparted to her by her teacher, she sets out on an adventure to restore her families name and rebuild what they had once lost. The dragon however (her teacher) isn't particularly happy about this and so abandons her when she leaves him to start her adventure. So though it still somewhat cares for her and wont attack her if she ever meets it in the world, it wont help her either because it considers her to have betrayed it.
This I hope gets around the fact that she has a relationship with what is at this point, an ancient dragon. Since it wont come to her aid or help her in any way, having that relationship should not be story or world breaking as the only thing it really means is, if she ever meets the dragon out in the world, it wont attack or try to kill her, provided she and the rest of her party are civil and respectful of it.
Just curious what you guys think of this.

You would need to come up with some serious repercussions for the multiple bloodlines to keep that from being op.
For example, I have an NPC in my campaign who has both wild magic and draconic powers, and the party is basically escorting him around the world, so to keep him from overshadowing them I made it so the clashing bloodlines (and his magic-hating parents) basically screwed up his ability to control his magic. He has no spells, instead only relying on his class abilities, and whenever he tries to cast a spell I instead have him roll on the wild magic table (cause it's dope). Sometimes I give him advantage on his wild magic roll so I can pick one of 2 outcomes, but he never has direct control of the magic. Also since he's an npc, he's constantly half the player's level.
The story is interesting but mechanically speaking, the only way to do it is strangely enough in my opinion is same class multiclassing. The game doesn't have this made so it might be very weak or very strong... As much as i want to see your winged giant of flames but balance might be out of the window. All what i can say is first see your DM allows it or not. That's all the help i can provide. Hope someone comments and gives a better answer.
