For my latest character's backstory I'm making her discover and assimilate into a nomadic Druid (and some non-Druids) tribe that is made up of four different Circles of Druids (Land, Moon, Shepherd and Dreams). The idea is this nomadic tribe moves from place to place and heals the land, routes out monstrosities and other threats, etc. All to make wherever they've been better than it was before.
The key is that this is the four Circles working together each with rigid roles within the tribe and the oldest of each circle making up the four Elders. The Elders work with their own circle and lead by council drawing on the knowledge and expertise of all the circles for the betterment of the whole tribe. The problem is I can't think what each tribes specific role would be besides maybe Moon.
I thought the Circle of the Moon could act as the scouts being that they have more affinity for Wildshape. They could fly on ahead to make sure the route is safe or spread out from the tribe while it's camped as an early warning alarm system and act as the first line of defence. I don't have any idea what the other three would do though.
Anyone have any ideas? Does this even make sense? (Is it a stupid question?)
Circle of Dreams allows Goodly Fey influence to heal the land. Those of that circle would fill the role of dedicated healers and also provide the magic to transport the tribe to different groves that they have set up, using their intimate knowledge of the FeyWild.
Circle of the Moon are the protectors and scouts like you mentioned. Using their mastery of combat wild shapes to fight intruders.
Circle of the Land is for druids using their own innate magical to influence the land, rather than relying on Fey influence. They also are the ambassadors to any of the sentient denizens on the land.
Circle of the Shepherds I would just keep with the name. Literally the shepherds of wildlife rather than focusing on the land.
Hopefully that helps you shape your story.

Mega Yahtzee Thread:

Yahtzee of 2's: Emmber (#36,161).
Lowest 9: JoeltheWalrus (#312), Emmber (#12,505) and Dertinus (#20,953).
Seems like the moon (caster that has greatly lengthened life spans?) Would be the priestly cast.
And the land would be the warrior class.
Shepherd would be more working class.
Not sure what the dreamers are.
Read the first chapters. Feel free to critique. Will link the next chapters at the end of the first. Two stories running so far.
