Have you ever had events so big in your campaigns that the local bards made up songs about it? If so, this is the thread to share them in.
In this first epic poem is described what happened to a city of mind flayers when they attacked those under the protection of a bunch of level 20 pcs and their allies. Needless to say, it wasn't pretty!
“The Fall of Tariyon”
Written by Loremaster Lee
Chronicling the destruction of the mind flayer city by the Stormsons and their allies.
In dark Tariyon, buried deep, mind flayers did live, breed and creep.
Abominations that fed on thought and mind, they twisted life for their consumption fine.
And yet in their arrogance and hate, did they end up sealing their own dark fate!
For on a day past, on one fine morn, they chose to attack the home of the Storm!
With giant and gnome under their thrall, and Minotaurs and beholders they did call.
Slaying those innocents who were there, they left behind destruction and despair.
Yet the Storm was not home and so did they, seal their fate that one dark day.
For when the Storm found out the tale, great fury arose like a cyclone’s tail!
And so it came soon after, that the Storm upon them broke and destroyed their laughter!
Out of the dark, they knew not how, The Storm arose and fulfilled its vow!
The first they knew of their doom, was when their elder brain was slain in its room!
As an unknown force ripped it asunder, in its last thoughts, thru its thralls it saw lightning and thunder!
A gleaming sword,60 feet long with power glowing, pierced its mind and brought death to its knowing!
The STORM shattered its cavern and supposed might, gales ripping it apart while thunder boomed and lightning did smite!
And the words of the Storm, grown 100’ tall: You attacked those I love and now you will FALL!
And as life left it going down to darkness and despair, the illithids awoke to find it no longer there!
For illithids do not follow any gods, trusting only in the elder brain, themselves and their thrall bods.
Believing themselves superior, free to twist life however they please, they sowed their own destruction for they are a loathsome disease!
The storm had come to cleanse and destroy, those who would with life would cruelly toy!
And so against them rose not only the Storm, but nature and gods, even those dark and forlorn!
For daring to twist elves to their desire, arose against them the god of elves in fury and fire!
For daring to pervert even vegetable life, nature sent the arch druid to end their strife!
For daring to force giants to them bend, the STORM the giants did against them send!
For daring to destroy minds and life, even Asmodeus sent his dreaded sacrificial knife!
And thus did dark Tariyon fall, as storm and nature raged thru its halls!
And the hunters of illithids, the githzerai, in astral winds appeared,
To strike down those who would astrally hide or disappear!
Nature’s elementals tore Tariyon apart, while Underdark hunters from shadows struck their mark.
Duergar and elf, giant and gnome, struck down the mind flayers and destroyed their home!
But storms come not only to destroy, but to heal. To cleanse away filth and wounds cover and seal.
Those races twisted by flayers to be their stomachs delight, now were rescued and brought to the light!
Transported thru gates arcane, they were brought first to safe demiplanes.
There hordes of creatures, twisted and poor, were transported and saved and given more.
For when the STORM had passed over and finished Tariyon’s blight,
It came to the poor twisted creatures and offered them new light!
No longer bound by their creator’s sins, they were offered new bodies to again begin!
And so into fair Asador, did a new host pour. Of halflings, gnomes and elves galore!
As gnome and hobbit and elf and friend. To minotaur, pixie and others in the end.
The storms destroyed those who twisted life dear, but gave new life to victims far and near!
And when all was done, peoples saved and treasures looted,
The flayers were destroyed and from Tariyon booted!
Dark Tariyon was destroyed by lava and heat, so no evil would ever after in its heart beat!
The Sword Mountains were wiped free by the Storm, a new life to them given with the new dawn!
A heart of good now, they rose up on high, new home of the Storm, by and by!
