Great googley moogley, this one was a nail-biter...!
This one was so intense. I'm glad they went a little long in order to show Jester's last spell. That would have been a lot if he'd either ended in the middle of that battle or before she could RP that one.
(Which totally got me teary-eyed. But then I'm usually misty when the Traveler is interacting with Jester.)
Yes, definitely a super-intense episode, I've been on the edge of my seat for the entirety of the 5 hours.
I wonder, though, what would've happened if Matt didn't do that retcon with Jester. I think he went a bit easy on them, at least one permadeath was clearly in this fight. But I love the M9, so I'm not complaining

Do you mean her still having the diamond? That wasn’t a retcon. Daikon gave it back to her right after she dropped the disguise in the warehouse. Matt did have that moment in this episode where he reminded her that inflict wounds would be an option because he knows how much she always wants to use it. But she declined in favor of saving her third level slot. Which thank goodness she did.
I meant when that Giant demon cow thing attacked Jester, but when Matt realized that it was going to possibly knock her out too, he deiced to range attack instead

Ah, I must have zoned out for my sanity at that exact moment.
If last week was a nail-biter, this week had a "Holy $#!+" moment at the end when the party did something that nobody (especially not Matt) was ready for. Good thing they are off next week, because one little action likely just changed the course of the whole campaign and Matt is going to need the extra time to consider the future.
With regards to the end of last night's episode...
I feel like going to prison would have been a VERY bad option? They would have had all of their items confiscated, and I assume the Krynn dynasty has detect magic and identify. So then they'd know what the haversack was, and would only need to cut it open to find the Beacon. And then the MIX would be in waaaaay bigger trouble than before. I'm very glad that Caleb did what he did, it positions the MIX in the best way possible.
I'm very excited to see what happens in two weeks. Are they going to have some clout? Is Caleb going to shine in a political atmosphere? Will we see Yeza?!??!
In some ways I feel like this episode was more intense in its latter half than last week's marathon combat was. Even with how last week's episode ended.
I totally agree with MellieDM about how this was probably the best course of action for the group. I also (like a vocal contingent on tumblr) was so worried for a while there that they would just be executed on the spot.
Do you think this whole consecution thing the Krynn keep bringing up could help Nott regain her halfling form?
Wasn't the confrontation on the ship with Caleb just as they went on a break as well? The writers really know how to build a cliffhanger and leave us waiting don't they? ;)

In regards to your spoiler comment:
My wife had the insight that maybe Nott already was consecuted!! After all, seems awfully coincidental that Veth was reincarnated (which is typically random) as a goblin among the goblins. (Considering my wife also called the reincarnation thing a couple weeks early, I’m certainly putting weight in her guesses. Well, and she’s my wife, so of course I lke her theories. :) ) Could also have been a factor in Molly’s backstory, too. Maybe it was botched which lead to the memory erasing? Or maybe Lucien was consecuted into a new body and whatever spirit was in *that* body was transferred into Lucien’s old tiefling body???

As to your spoiler block:
The theory that Nott's reincarnation was actually some sort of consecution is interesting. Until it was confirmed off-stream that it was reincarnation, I know a lot of people were wondering if the person in the cloak who did this to Nott was maybe a spellcaster with access to resurrection and intentionally botched the resurrection. A lot of people seem to think this woman may have been Astrid while an equally large contingent of the Tumblr crowd seem to think it's the same woman in Molly's backstory. Given how so many of the characters' backstories connect in even the smallest of ways, I wouldn't put it past Matt to have this woman turn out to be a drow and have been responsible for Molly's death/revival with no memory and Veth's being turned into Nott. I have seen the Molly theory floating around about it. All I know is as an English major I'm tired of not being able to figure out what Matt means by consecuted. I know what the word means I just don't know what it means to the Krynn.

I just realized... Caleb had his false memories dispelled by a mysterious woman. Is it possible that this is somehow the SAME WOMAN in all of their backstories??
Oh man, now I'm trying to figure out the timeline. We know Veth's son Luke is about six years old, so I'd say Nott was reincarnated no more than five years ago. Mollymauk rose from the grave with no memory after a supposedly botched ritual of some sort two years ago. We don't know exactly how long Bren was institutionalized for before his mind was restored and he escaped...

I really wouldn't put it past Matt to have that actually be a thing. Now I need to go re-watch the Caleb backstory reveal episode and take detailed notes. Then re-watch the one that gave us that hint of Molly backstory and the one about Nott's history. Maybe they just haven't asked the right questions yet, unlike when Jester was talking to her mom and they casually mentioned the Gentleman and it turns out he's probably Jester's dad. What's the lifespan on halflings? Nott said she was of child-bearing age when the group early on was asking her about her age. Goblins live shorter lifespans than halflings, IIRC. But, yeah, I think Luke was somewhere around 6-7 because he was talking quite well. Full sentences and all that. Well, looking at teh CR wiki (bucket load of salt), Caleb is 33. He was 17 when he went into the asylum and 28 when he came out. So he's been on the run for 5 years. Which would put him leaving the asylum probably around the time that Veth was reincarnated into a goblin and fled Felderwin. It's feasible that the woman who cleared Caleb's head then got caught up with the goblins and reincarnated Nott then got caught up with Lucien/Molly and his gang. Motives are unclear. Unless she's just chaotic evil and wanted Caleb to hurt more by unfogging his mind so he would see the depth of everything that was done to him. The goblins said "Make her pay" before Veth's reincarnation. They were ticked because she'd killed their leader. We may never know what was going on with the Lucien/Molly thing (RIP Molly). Man, now my head's spinning in all sorts of directions.
Has something happened to this thread, that nobody is discussing CR Campaign 2 any more? Or is it being discussed somewhere else, that I've overlooked?
While I don't love the super combat heavy episodes this was overall pretty good. (Who else now has a huge craving for donuts?)
That Yasha focus at the end?! Holy crow. I'm seeing a few theories out there regarding the entity in her visions/dreams. I don't think the horned guy is the Stormlord (nor do a lot of people). I haven't read the Tal'dorei campaign guide so maybe I just made myself look stupid. But I'm seeing theories that Yasha made a deal with something evil to get retribution on her tribe for Zuala so she doesn't actually have a tribe to go back to. And the Stormlord is trying to free her from that deal and its ramifications. Which I really like the idea of a god of storms being totally soft and worried about the state of someone's soul/whatever. Maybe he has a dark ulterior motive for wanting Yasha but maybe he's just a good god and really genuinely wants to see her free of an evil influence/master. I'm getting a bit of a Percy/Orthax vibe off these theories and that's okay.
I want to know what was on that sheet Matt tore up after Caleb incinerated that goblin. And I seriously love how Beau has grown (Nott too!) into her own over the course of the campaign to where she's comfortable showing off the intelligent side of herself. That whole scene was so great. And Nott actually being concerned about the goblin that got killed, to the point of asking Caduceus to do his grave domain cleric voodoo on the remains was so sweet and so much character growth. Our little goblin mom is growing so much.

I have watched and re-watched that momentous scene a few times now to catch everyone's reaction to Caleb's decisions.
I won't spoil anything but it was a "gutsy" move that I believe to have been the best one in their predicament.
