I ran my first live stream game, a Spelljammer setting for D&D 5E. Biting my nails right up until the stream went live, that's for sure.
But! I've got to say, the campaign tools here on DDB made an enormous difference! Being able to create tooltips in the DM notes didn't take very long at all and I had everything I needed in one space. There's a lot of room for the campaign tools, but just that one thing was so incredibly helpful.
Also worth mentioning, if you're thinking about streaming a game but unsure if you should or not, just go for it. Live gaming is a distinct playstyle and it's a ton of fun. One of the biggest takeaways from the game was, ahead of time I was concerned if I had enough material to fill the time. And then I quickly realized the players are going to more than fill the spaces in between. I am lucky to have a really terrific group like Ben from Puffin Forrest and several folks in the Nerdarchy family for the game but if you've got a fun adventure and interesting characters you're good to go.
And if you do take the plunge, use those campaign management features and tooltips! You'll be glad you did.
