I have recently discovered the amazing beauty of Dynamic Battle Maps (or living battle maps, as I've also seen them called). For those that don't know, these are videos that show a map to be played on a flat tv being used as a gameboard, or through a projector onto a table to use as a grid.
Does anyone know of any websites or anywhere really with a large cache of them? Really any source for them is what I'm looking for. I'm looking to grab as many as I can.
Also, does anyone have any experience playing with these, does it help immerse the players?
Hey! I actually make the "Living Battle Maps"! I don't have a ton out there, but I am ramping up my efforts to make more. I just launched a page to keep track of my work which you can access for free here: https://www.tabletopthings.com/living-battle-maps
I would say it helps with immersion, but I'm also biased. It's been fun to use them in my games.
Excuse I'm trying to find a program to create my own, I would really like to be able to use a fog of war type system where players can only see certain parts and ones that have dynamic lighting and shadows.
Ultra interactive dynamic maps (uidm) is what you're looking for. You can customize all lighting, weather, and adjust it in real time. You can use their map packs or upload your own... and you can save!
This is such a long time from when you posted.. but i just want you to know that you're maps are beautiful and i'm totally going to use them in my games!
I'm trying to find a program to create my own, and the link above no longer works. Do you guys know of any new programs that I can use to make and save dynamic maps?

How is this not more widely used? It looks to be super useful!
Thank you very much! Exactly what I was looking for. I will be using this for my 55 inch tv.
Okay, this is all really sick stuff. I project my maps on my wall so this should make it looks more professional. Haha

Wait? Project it on a wall, how does that work?
Basically a combo of laptop, Owlbear rodeo and a portable projector.
