Take a step outside, go to a park, go downtown and enjoy the nightlife. I know you all have some vacation photos of beautiful landscapes that you have never looked back through. I suggest going through those and start creating towns, landscapes, and obstacles that your players can run into. But I do highly suggest that you give yourself a vacation and drink it all in, and put it into you DnD games. Thank you all for taking time out of your day to view my video, it means a lot. Cheers.
Though I am only a player and am not running own campaign, I sometimes do it as a player to exercise my imagination and better prepare myself for the role play aspect. I've done this my whole life where I let my mind wander and imagine myself in a different world, like Pokemon, yugioh, and so forth. I come up with elaborate scenarios and imagine how I would ideally act in those scenarios. For D&D I always think "what if I was my character?" and play out how that may go in my head for different everyday encounters.
I feel this exercise helps me be more involved in the game I play in. I'm much more quicker on decisions because I base them off of my "experiences." I find it frustrating when players take a long time to make decisions so I try to make sure I am making in the moment decisions as well informed as possible.
This is awesome to hear! Glad to see others let their mind run on wild tangents in relation to this wonderful game. And you are absolutely right about being a quicker decision maker. This technique helps improve your improvisation and just boosts your overall positive game experience as well. Always exercise the mind with creativity and you will never loose a step in game.
