Origins Game Fair 2018 is coming up and a small number of author-only adventures (DDAO) are being offered. For those who don't know, DDAO adventures are only supposed to be DMed by their author, usually an AL admin or WoTC employee.
Has anyone played an author-only adventure? If you have, was it awesome, average, or awful?
I have my schedule mostly figured out and want to know if it's worth missing party of a trilogy of other adventures and paying a few extra dollars.
It's a unique experience, whether it's worth it to you is purely subjective. Even good DMs have bad days. I have played in one and had fun. Also there are often prizes at those tables. Claire Hoffman gave away a copy of Lost Tales of Myth Drannor at my game. I didn't get it, but there was a chance.
I played in an Author-Only adventure with Robert Adducci at ChupacabraCon, and it was a blast. It's different from many other AL adventures because they really are in a position to tweak and adjust according to the table and the choices made by the players. (Plus it's nice getting to meet those folks!)
It's too late for me this year, but I appreciate the responses. I'll try to get into one next year and hopefully this thread will help someone else out. Also, keep these stories coming. I'm enjoying hearing about these experiences.

The authors know their adventures better than anyone, so I'd say its a pretty fantastic opportunity.
