I want to do a d&d fundraiser for a group and I have a few questions for dming an AL game, can I charge admission for the game? If not, could I charge for things like snacks, or sell dice? Also do you have to use the official stories or can you use an original one-shot? Thanks in advance
Has to be an official story as the rewards are standardized and Characters are standardized. I'm not sure about charging money to play, but I don't think this would be a great way to get people to show up. Donations may work better.
Shouldn't be an issue if you sold anything else so long as it remains within the legality of the state where you reside.

Considering that a great many AL games are run at conventions, which are paid attendance, yes... you can charge people to attend your event.
Snacks and dice sales have nothing to do with AL, so go for it.
As for content... If you're not using an official AL module, you're not running an AL event.
I'd encourage you to download the AL player and DM guides. They will tell you everything you need to know about the AL rules and of course we can help answer any questions you may have about running a AL legal game.

While true, I would distinguish between charging someone to attend an event, as compared to directly charging them to play in an AL game. While I think there wouldn't be an issue, I just didn't want to go ahead and say go for it, without knowing for absolute certain there wasn't going to be an issue.

At Dragoncon, there is a paid amount to enter the convention, and a per session charge per gaming session (Dnd/pathfinder). I assume since they are one of the biggest conventions around they are probably by the book. I don't think there are any mentions in the AL documents specifically allowing or disallowing paid games.
In my area, there are stores that charge entry fees to play the official scheduled AL games, but that has a tendency to push some folks away. Basically, charge if you want, but beware of possibly garnering a bad reputation.
For AL games can I use the season hardcover? or the stories must come from the AL modules from dmsguild.com exclusively?
You can use the hardcovers to run AL-legal games, but they're a bit more complicated. For one-shot (even repeating one-shot) play, the modules are relatively self-contained. If you're running for a consistent group, the hardcovers can be more appealing.
Heya... absolutely you can charge admission for the game... AND for snacks and sell dice and all those things. In order to run DDAL, you must use content that is designated as official DDAL content. You can find this for purchase at www.dmsguild.com.
You could always raise money another way to raise money for your needs. Selling candy bars, shirts with logos, food, music, entertainment. Anything that will get the word out about your need for raising money. The event could always coincide with an Adventure League game. Perhaps raffling tickets for tables or even running a multiple table AL event sounds cool. Perhaps it would turn away people but I'd say if the cause is great and friends are invited, it sounds like a great time to raise money for a cause.
