Wait till you get tier 3, whole group buys Cloak of Invisibility and ruin it. When AL admins were asked about this their reply was. "if the party wants to "I win" then that means a longer lunch break for the DM."
They are not expanding the game with this system. I've heard people argue that it will bring new players... I really don't see how this = new players and more money. How is introducing a less interesting, less immersive way of playing going to attract new players? All in all, I would chalk season 8 AL changes to be some of the stupidest rules changes from any gaming system in the history of gaming. And I was a warhammer / 40k gamer for a long time so that is saying something....
Im still very new, but I don't care for it at all. Is there any upside to these changes? Well, treasure at least. I can see the xp changes being more streamlined.
PFS had a very good XP rule, but didn't work off of the same teir system. 1XP for each successful scenario. You leveled up at every 3rd XP.

Does htis mean that if you want to play an evil character you are required to take the Faction Agent Background (or at least the Safe Haven feature)?
No more evil pirates or criminals?
Yes, this is still correct.
