In adventurer's league, I play a 4th teir necromancer. (level 17-20). Necromancers gain the ability to Control undead at 14th level. the control undead ability states
Starting at 14th level, you can use magic to bring undead under your control, even those created by other wizards. As an action, you can choose one undead that you can see within 60 feet of you. That creature must make a Charisma saving throw against your wizard spell save DC. If it succeeds, you can’t use this feature on it again. If it fails, it becomes friendly to you and obeys your commands until you use this feature again Intelligent undead are harder to control in this way. If the target has an Intelligence of 8 or higher, it has advantage on the saving throw. If it fails the saving throw and has an Intelligence of 12 or higher, it can repeat the saving throw at the end of every hour until it succeeds and breaks free."
The ability has no set duration nor does undead with less than 8 intelligence ever get to repeat the save to break free. As such it should be able to persist between adventures. I found no official ruling on this on the season 8 FAQ nor anywhere in the D&D beyond forums. additionally, the ability is a class ability. not a spell so it cannot be countered or dispelled.
Does controlled undead persist between adventures? If anyone knows the official Ruling on this I really want to know. Additionally, I would like to know if there is any CR restriction on this ability in organized play because right now I could take control of a Nightwalker (Page 216 of MtoF) without suffering major complications
EDIT: The undead I have controlled is not a Nightwalker, It is a beholder zombie. and unlike Animate dead You do not Ever have to reassert control
As far as I know there is no official ruling or guidance on the issue. We've been discussing almost ready exactly this issue in another thread and there is quite the divergence of opinions on the matter. For what it's worth, I think you should record the undead on your log sheet and that there's no rules reason for them to not be portable between tables.
Additionally I checked the finger of death thread. but unlike FoD Control undead can only ever control 1 creature and that creature can be any undead. not just zombies.

Thanks! That's what I thought! Thanks for confirming that for me.
