In response to the news regarding Season 9 rules changes, I've created the following survey in the hopes of gathering some actual, quantifiable numbers. Please fill it out and share it far and wide. Thanks in advance!!!

Took survey, but it is lacking. I am completely dissatisfied for 1 primary reason. They put 2 legendary I win items on the seasonal unlock list that had no business being there. Not even in the Hardback books. Season 9 has potential to now say, oh you can't use those anymore. Season Unlock lists are broken beyond belief and should not even exist.
Staff the magi = game broken now that everyone can get it
Cloak of invisibility = game broken now that everyone can get it.
Season 9. Can't get those unless you are a season 8 character. So maybe one power player gets it, not really broken.
I quit entirely for the season 8 unlock list. All other items are workable, but not OP I win items for everyone.
1. Not "re-roll", you'll have to create a new character every season to take full advantage of seasonal content (though you could duplicate a single character if that's what you wanted to do). 2. Correct, but you would also miss out on magic item unlocks for seasonal content.

Given how infrequently I play: about 3 days a year, losing magic item unlocks doesn’t hurt me as much as creating a new character would. If I played several times a month, creating a new character would be worth it.

Absolutely, I will post the raw findings in the near future.

You’ll still be able to play your old character, but what rewards they earn will vary based on what you’re playing.
Starting with season 9, seasonality will be introduced.
There will be two types of characters: Season 9+, and Seasons 1-8
you have to choose what type of character you’re making after season 9 and declare it as being 9+ or 1-8
All existing characters prior to season 9 are auto Seasons 1-8
Characters from Season 9:
Get bonus racial options to choose from in character creation for season 9: Winged tiefling variant + winged aasimar (and it does not count against PHB +1)
can earn ACP, TCP, story awards, and magic item unlocks from season 9+ modules and content.
Can earn ACP, TCP, story awards, and magic item unlocks from non-seasonal content (see below)
Can play season 1-8 content, but will only earn ACP/TCP, not the chance to purchase items within the adventure.
Characters from Seasons 1-8:
can continue to earn ACP, TCP, Story awards, and magic item unlocks from season 1-8 modules and HC.
Can earn ACP, TCP, story awards, and magic item unlocks from non-seasonal content (see below)
Can play season 9+ content, but will only earn ACP/TCP and not the chance to purchase items within the adventure.
They are introducing a non-seasonal campaign, “Dreams of the Red Wizards”
These can be played by any season of character, and the character will earn ACP, TCP, and magic item unlocks from it.
CCC are also counted as non-seasonal.
Characters of any season can earn TCP, ACP, and magic item unlocks from it.
I don’t think the changes are going to break AL, but I am not a fan of the complexity. I tend to be the table that runs newbies at my game shop, and I do not look forward to explaining this system to them while theyr’e still trying to juggle the rules of 5e and the basics of AL. I think I’ll have to make a print out sheet at that point. :-/

Are Pre-Season 9 characters able to use Pre-Season 9 Story Awards that effectively Revive/Resurrect the PC for various incurred costs. I have an 11th PC -- mainly played in Season 8 content -- with 'two extra lives'.
Sorry if this is obvious, I've been trying to speed read through various threads and there are contradictory replies.

Yes. Season 1-8 characters who already have story awards will be able to use them unless there's some other reason they expire as far as I'm aware.

Because of the magic it unlock restrictions and seasonal everygreen list, when do they announce banning magic item trades?
Greg Marks noted that there's information on magic item trades coming soon which concerns me but I'm trying to remain hopeful.

For those who are interested, we switched to HH late last month. So far so good.
It's somewhat amusing that probably half our players have never played the old rules; but they 'get-it' right away as the old rules (exp/gold/keep found magic items) aligns way better with the PHB.
What i don't get is why season 1-8 are 1 season. Why not make each separate? What benefit is there for older seasons when i make a season 1 character but seeing as its its now one season i can grab the seasonal unlocks of season 8 and use them in the season one book i am playing in?
For that matter what motivation do I have to create a season 9 character if there are better unlocks in preseason 9? I've got 8 seasons of books to pick and choose one off adventures to get my unlocks and then play season 9 with all sorts of goodies you cant get in season 9

It's entirely valid to play your Legacy character and collect all sorts of magic items and goodies from the first eight seasons of Adventurers League! I'm looking forward to continue adventuring with my Cleric, even after he becomes a "Legacy" character, I particularly want to get involved in the Dreams of Red Wizards plotline if possible.
BUT! I'm also excited to create a new character specifically for Season 9 content. I'm pretty excited to see what storyline unfolds around Baldur's Gate and Avernus, and I'll want to be able to collect the magic item unlocks from Season 9 while playing it. And if my Season 9 character becomes "Legacy" when Season 10 rolls around, that's fine too. While I'm excited to collect magic items, I'm more excited about the adventures themselves, and each new season means a whole new adventure to me.
But my point is they made separate season 9 because of the cross over issues in the past. Season 4 items showing up in season 7 etc... So why make seasons 1-8 as one and keep the issue going in past seasons and only fix it in season 9?
Breaking up each season separately would quickly become nigh impossible to track, but a separation between "Current Season" and "Legacy Seasons" isn't bad at all. It lets the current storyline stand on it's own, while also keeping the last five years of content open and available.

I am sorta confused about the whole re-roll thing. If I read the dragon article properly, I have two choices:
Given I only play AL about twice a year at Cons, option 2 will at least let me play characters without worrying about being perpetually tier 1?

You might want to consider posting the survey link on some of the other D&D sites out there:

ENWorld http://www.enworld.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?506-*Dungeons-amp-Dragons
... or the D&D facebook group if you have access.
Posting more places might obtain a better range of survey results.

Basically cannot trade magic items between seasons, so a season 1 to 8 character may not trade items with a season 9 character.
