There are plenty of games to be had, practically every day of the week, here up in Northern California. There are even places that run games that aren't listed on Warhorn, but Warhorn is a great place to find games.
Game Kastle Mountainview runs open signup modules on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30pm-10pm. They also run book adventures on Sundays, for which signups for the new season are still, as far as I know, being accepted. Spaces are limited, so sign up as soon as you can!
Isle of Gamers in Santa Clara runs modules on Tuesday nights 7pm-11pm and runs book adventures on Wednesday nights also from 7pm-11pm. The store gets very crowded during both these nights, so be sure to reserve a spot or face being turned away.
Anime Imports in Pacifica runs games on Tuesday nights from 6:30pm-10pm. Want a little anime with your DnD? This is the spot for you!
In addition, we even have our own mini convention coming this April, called FarWest No Foolin'. Promising an EPIC adventure, where your actions will affect a host of other tables, as upwards of 40 players will work together to defeat a common enemy and decide the fate of the Moonsea. Join us this April 1st and see if you can conquer the Ark of the Mountains.
Many of us are also part of a facebook group, so if you are looking to play previously-unscheduled games or just have further discussion within the folks in our area, you can join in with us at the Bay Area Gamer Guild.
These adventures and more are all available to anyone. Signing up is free, though some stores and events do charge admission. Find the right store for you and experience what awaits you in the Adventurer's League today. And always say no to strange cheese. Don't ask.
I believe there is a community in the Sacramento area, though I am not personally familiar with it. Anything further North than that I am not aware of.
Really far Northern California would be like Redding/Chico imo. anything north of that is sparsely populated until Oregon. I know there are game shops that would run AL in those two cities I'm sure.

I used to be active in the Sacramento Area league until work took over my life. Good group of people, wish I could be active again. They primarily use warhorn as well. Primary game store for them is Great Escape Games in Sacramento.
El Dorado Hills Town Center (just outside Folsom) has the Game Room Adventure Cafe that does league games on Thursdays. Most comfortable gaming store I've been at, and they offer real food (sandwiches, quesadillas, coffee/lattes)! Also features an escape room.
I've heard of a store or two in the Roseville area, but have not been and cannot vouch for either the store or league community there
There are two in Sacramento area. NorCal Adventures League and Sacramento D&D Adventurers League. Norcal is the newer one but Sacramento D&D tends to have more drama which sucks because it used to be really good.
A few players had a dispute with Sacramento Adventurer's League and formed Norcal Adventurer's League (now called West Coast Adventures League). The dispute was over how many players should be allowed in a game (I was there when it happened). SAL said 6, Norcal said more is ok. Both are offering lots of games and are worth a look.

For a moment I was hopeful, then I saw it was the Bay Area. I was hoping for really far Northern California :)
