I will soon be playing my first ever Adventures League game. So, I should give it a go because I keep moaning about it, so I thought that I should play at least one game to get some personal experience.
I have finally settled on my very first AL character: Wu Yongzheng (right click to open in a new window). He is a Fallen Aasimar, Warlock of the Fiend.
From an AL perspective, what do you guys think of this character?
All thoughts are, and constructive criticisms will be well received.

The only thing that stands out would be Pesticide, since being listed as a familiar I would expect you to either have the Find Famialiar spell (somehow) or be lvl 3 and having chosen the Pact of the Chain. Other than that, were you worried/curious about something specific?

Not Specifically worried about anything, but I have never played AL before, so I was wondering if I had a decent character for Adventurers League.
Am I not allowed to have a pet, who later becomes a family in AL. This is something that I would have been allowed in a normal game? If not, I can easily remove the pixie until I get to level 3, but if I am allowed to have her as my pet and then have her later become my familiar when I get to level 3, I would prefer to do that.
I feel like I am cheating a bit anyway, having a pixie familiar when my character is a warlock of the fiend - I just really wanted a pixie.

I do not think there are specific rules covering this, but I guess that as long as the Pixie is just "there" until you make her your familiar, I don't see much problem with it.
As to having a Fiend Patron and a Pixie pet/familiar, well, the world is nice because it's varied. If there were any limitations as to what familiar you can have based on your patron (something I had actually thought about and made a post on some time ago) it would say so in the manual.

The character looks fine. In AL you can completely rebuild everything about the character except the name until you play your first game at level 5 in tier 2 at which point your choices are locked in.
However, I should point out that a pixie is never an option for a familiar. AL follows RAW. You could have a fluff pet if you want, you can talk to it, you can cuddle it. However, it can't scout, it can't perform any actions, the pet can't actually DO anything.
If you decide to take pact of the chain at level 3 you get an improved version of the find familiar spell which offers the following additional forms for the familiar:
- imp, quasit, sprite, pseudodragon (the stats for these are in the back of the players handbook - NOT the monster manual - all familiars are summoned spirits - either fiend, celestial or fey which take the form of the familiar you request)
Pixie is not an option. You could choose the stats for a sprite and call it a pixie if you like but a pixie has abilities like casting polymorph and other spells which won't be allowed for your familiar (it wouldn't be allowed in most home games either to be honest).
- imp, quasit, sprite, pseudodragon (the stats for these are in the back of the players handbook - NOT the monster manua
If I choose the Sprite from the PHB, what can it do as my familiar? If I am limited to these options, I am tempted to take the Imp instead, for its shapechanging and its ability to see in magical darkness as it seems that this would make it a more useful familiar than the Sprite.

Yep. The Imp is usually considered the best option in terms of the mechanically more powerful pact of the chain familiar. However, keep in mind that you can actually change which familiar you summon every time you cast the spell so you aren't stuck with one unless you want to be for role playing reasons.
As for what familiars can do ... read the find familiar spell and the extra section on chain pact warlocks. They generally make good scouts since you can use your action to see through their senses (within 100'), you can telepathically communicate with them within 100', they can perform the help action in combat to give the next attacker against that target advantage on their next attack.
Oh so they are just like familiars from a normal game? There is no special rules for then in AL

Yes. Familiars in AL are the same as those from the Find Familiar spell that could appear in any game. However, AL doesn't allow the variant familiars rules from the Monster Manual unless there is a special cert allowing it somewhere.
As an example, I think there was a cert issued for playing some epic that allowed characters with the cert to choose a treesym as a familiar when casting the find familiar spell. Not a variant familiar but an alternate form anyway.

It's a pretty standard LvL 1 Warlock, I'd say.

In general, familiars have a lot of utility.
